The steps are very attractive and fully functional. My only criticism isthat they are very hard to assemble. I had two friends over, both of whomare experienced at furniture assemblage. Both agreed that the assemblageof this piece is definitely a TWO MAN JOB. One person alone will find it extremely difficult if not impossible. Once assembled it is a great piece

Missing parts and some metal parts bent easily when trying to put them together. Ended up buying hinges to secure the pieces together. Finished product looks beautiful and is now sturdy.

While the wood components were good, the cheap metal cam screws broke when trying to assemble. The manufacturer is aware of the issue and trying to source replacement screws and thought it might take about a month or more. Since the cam screws are a unique size, I have not been able to find replacements at the local hardware stores. I am now unable to use the steps, while awaiting replacement screws.

powell woodbury bed steps
I received this yesterday and was so happy to receive. Initially, the pieces were beautiful coming out of the box and I couldn't wait to put it together. Although there were only 6 or steps, I thought assembly would be easy. The instructions could have been more explicit. After taking me 3 hours to assemble, no matter how I tried, the pieces would not stay together. Everytime I thought it was sturdy, I would move the steps and it would fall apart...pretty heavy pieces to come crashing down on the floor. After much frustration, I just glued the pieces together. Unfortunately, my NEW step is now scratched and dented from falling apart so many times. The worst is that before I glued it together, when I thought it was well put together, I stepped on it...it broke and I sprained my ankle! I will not purchase from this company again. The wood pieces are beautiful, but the hardware to assemble it is useless..

Very sturdy step for next to the bed
This step stool is just what I was looking for to put next to my very high bed. It's quite sturdy and will easily support almost all weight. Has a nice storage space as well. Only recommendation is to assemble with two people - my husband assembled by himself and he got the job done, but said it would have been easier to assemble with a 2nd set of hands.
