This is a beautiful pair, to be clear, but there are things that a buyer should be aware of. First, the base is not perfectly flush/flat on the bottom and it is raw finish, so it will scratch your floor without some barrier between it and the floor as you maneuver it into place. Second, there is no positive "lock" between the sink and the base, so whether you have them perfectly positioned; one on top of the other, is at the mercy of your best guess (no guide peg/hole, channel, etc..). To that point, you may have to scoot them a bit and you will scratch your floor doing it if you are not careful. The 4" is more expensive than the expandable and is only available online, which is a mystery. Small sink basins are not really suited for spread fixtures and the majority of the fixtures in the store are fixed width. Attaching the plumbing was no problem and the overall install looks fantastic, though I would not trust the sink / base to support any weight because of the lack of positive lock (the 3 lag bolts; wall and floor, mitigate this, but with the bottom of the base not perfectly flat and the fit between column and basin not locked in place, I am not confident that it wouldn't topple under a series of unfortunate circumstances (like a kid trying to hang on the edge...because kids do that). Overall, I'm happy with it, but would like to see a few things addressed to take it from "pretty" to "excellent".

Poor Sink Casting - Uneven and Blemished
The pedestal bottom portion is fine, straight and even. The sink portion however is poorly casted. Specifically the bottom edge/ rim that rests on top of the pedestal is not level. We struggled for a while to make the sink top level, after getting the pedestal plum. We thought that we perhaps had it misaligned, because the last thing we expected was a warped sink. Upon close eye inspection, the warping was visible. Kohlers response to another customer with the same issue (see below), doesn't make sense. Why not just start with a straight, quality made product to avoid having to use the "pads" / "gaskets" at all. I'm guessing these "pads" were included as a 'damage control' fix to save all of their poorly made inventory. I've installed three other pedestal sinks, and have never had these issues, or seen this sort of solution presented. Response from Kohler Product Expert September 29, 2016 Hello, my name is Sarah with Kohler Co. I am sorry to hear your Willamette pedestal sinks had several small flaws in the finish. This is not normal. Could you please send pictures of the flaws to our Customer Service team at KohlerCustServ@kohler.com? This will help us find a solution for you. Regarding the installation, the pedestal sinks should not "sit" on the pedestal base. The sink will mount to the wall and there will be pads between the sink and pedestal. The sink is leveled by the installation into the wall by the hanger bolts. If you have any questions regarding the installation, please email us. We're glad to help! -Sarah B. KOHLER Customer Service

Eddie, this is Laura with Kohler Co. I am sorry for the issue with the basin for your pedestal sink. Please return it for a new basin if it appears to be subpar. Regarding the installation of pedestal vanities, all our units provide leveling pads to be installed between the basin and pedestal. Due to the possibility of ceramic grating on ceramic, the leveling pads provide cushioning between the two pieces and allow for some variance as well. Please contact our Customer Service team at KohlerCustServ@kohler.com with any questions. We're glad to help!. Sincerely, M. Laura K. KOHLER Customer Service

Beautiful sink
We purchased this sink after seeing it in the store. Home Depot shipped it free of charge to our home. It arrived quickly with no issues. It looks beautiful. We ordered a toilet to match and we are very happy how it looks with our clawfoot tub.

Just the ticket for our needs
We needed smaller profile pedestal sinks to put 2 in our main bath. The vintage yet clean styling of this sink fit the ticket, and is good value as well. They look great installed.

      Poor casting quality
I had been under the impression that the Kohler brand was a quality brand but the two sinks I purchased were cast very poorly as to not sit correctly against the wall and on the pedestal. The bowls also have several small flaws in the finish. I had a professional plumber do the installation and he had a very frustrating time.

New Sink for an Old House
Ordered on line and the package arrived promptly and well packed. The project was to install a new sub-floor in the bathroom of a nearly 100 year old house. It installed easily and is a beautiful addition.

        BEWARE, INNACURATE INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS!
Instructions wrong like review below. Bolts for sink need to protrude further. Also pedestal diagram shows 11.5 inches from wall for bolt to floor, this is also wrong by 1.5 inches for sink I purchased. Called company and got snotty woman on phone that tried to tell me nothing wrong till I found review below from 12-14-15 to prove it, then technician with superiority complex did about the same.. Inaccurate instruction and offensive customer service. Unbelievable company. Welcome to the bold world of Kohler!

Finally both pieces were not damaged
Very disappointed with the quality that was shipped out. I guess really 3rd time is / was a charm...because this time both pieces arrived and were not damaged. It took a total of 1 month to finally get the undamated pieces.

        Beautiful Sink
This is a beautiful, stylish, oval pedestal sink. It arrived much sooner than I expected. It is rather large for a small bathroom, so be advised. It is "comfort height", which is really nice. I had it professionally installed by a plumber. The wall behind the sink has ceramic tile, and I need to be sureit was done right, with the right tools. I am very pleased with everything to do with this purchase.

          New basin
the clean lines suit my 1940s bathroom nicely and my plumber had an easy job installing it. The basin does project from the wall almost as if it were free-standing which can be disconcerting at first but is a lovely illusion effect and it also allows a bit of additional space to access the connections when installing or doing maintenance.

defect in the casting caused water leaks
I believe my sink had multiple defects in the porcelein casting. First noticed that despite the pedestal being perfectly level and plumb when attached to my bathroom floor, the sink top surface sat very far out of level left to right when placed upon it. A large 3/8 inch shim under the left side and smaller one in the front (where the sink meets the pedestal) allowed the sink to sit level when measured left to right as well as front to back. Next, after installing the drain I had a substantial water leak. After contorting myself under the sink and refitting the drain parts multiple times to eliminate any errors during install, I was forced to unbolt the sink from the wall, disconnect the water supply lines and move it to my workbench for closer inspection. I found several defects in the area where the drain pipe's rubber seal mates to the porcelain. The lack of a clean and uniform surface prevents the rubber gasket from forming a clean seal. My career is product development so I understand that defects will occur in mass produced product and some defects will simply slip by QC unnoticed. Will open the next box when going to HD tomorrow for an exchange and will inspect the porcelain casting prior to driving home. Not a bad product, but make sure to inspect the above areas. Hoping I can find a good unit... install was done in a brand new powder room I just finished installing. I'm committed to the holes in my walls, wallpaper and new tile floor specific to this Kohler sink model. A potential large problem if I need to go to an alternate pedestal brand and/or design. One last thing... the supplied pedestal securing lag bolt is too short for anything other than a laminate floor. Drilling thru my new tile and cement board to get to the wood for the bolt to bite, leaves insufficient bolt length. Needed to source my own longer lag bolt to hit the wood subfloor effectively.

Has Kohler tried to follow their instructions?
They put a clear drawing of the bolts in the wall protruding 1" to attach the sink. THE SINK IS THICKER THAN 1" so the bolts don't reach through it. Now I have to buy new, longer bolts to finish the job. Ridiculous!

Michael, My name is Sarah from Kohler Co. I am sorry to read you had problems installing the Willamette pedestal sink. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our Engineering Department has looked further into this and can see the sinks can have a range in thickness. We will be updating our installation instructions to specify the hanger bolts will need to be protruding from the wall 1-7/16". This will allow for any minor fluctuations in the thickness of the sink. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you. Please contact us directly at KohlerCustServ@kohler.com if you have any additional questions or comments. Sincerely, Sarah B. KOHLER Customer Service

              Bathroom sink project
Sink and pedestal go together easily, better for new construction if you don't want to remove part of wall to insert a mounting board and reinstall drywall and plaster. Attachment hardware for wooden subfloor only if installing on a slab foundation you will need a concrete anchor and bolt. looks very good once installed.

Good looking sink. A little shallow.
Nicely made, space saving sink. Everything was included in the box. Even the studs to secure to the wall. I installed this in a small bathroom. Fits perfectly, and looks beautiful. The price was a little high for a shallower type sink. Installation was very easy. I installed by myself with no issues. You may be wise to get a little help to hold the sink in place before securing. I would purchase again if on sale.

                  Beautiful sink
We paired this sink with our clawfoot tub. The basin isn't very deep but we purchased this sink more for the look. I ordered this from the Home Depot store in Rockland, Maine and they shipped it directly to our house. Very happy with my purchase.

                      Practical sink basin
This merchandise serves its purpose. Problem was, this is not what i was going to buy. Unfortunately, the merchandise was incomplete or out of stock for a long period of time. In other words, the basin was available but not the stand. Then you have vice versa. Its ok what we purchased but still could be better. Thanks AL.

                      Instructions needed!
I bought the sink / pedestal combination and nowhere in the instructions did it cover attaching the sink to the wall! Once everything was installed, I discovered the area to affix the sink to the wall was too small to work in...so now the sink just sits on the pedestal, hoping I don't bump into it!!
