This didn't work out of the package and in fact had looked like it was previously used and returned. We returned it.

Unit failed the second time I used it. Temperature would swing from 177 to 195 degree F with the alram constantly goining off. I replaced the batteries and moved the receiver around to see if was interference or something. Nothing worked.I had to rush to the grocery store and get a dial thermometer. Once that was in, my actual internal temperature read a steady 167.

This thermometer takes the guess work out of what the temps should be for what you are cooking. Select the meat type, and the thermometer is set automatically.
