Good, Secure Way to Store Keys for Access
The Master Lock - Master Lock Lock Box, Resettable Combination Dials with tether, is a great solution to lost keys or having a need to share access via keys. It allows you to securely store keys so that the only access is via the use of a four digit code you set yourself. The process to reset the code to one of your choosing is easy and fully explained in the accompanying directions. This is a manual device, so no worries about batteries running down. I placed mine in a discreet location so that if my electronic locks die, I can easily access my spare key and open the door.

Installed mine outdoors
I installed the lock box outside by screwing it into the brick façade. It came with four #10 wood screws for mounting but I used masonry screws instead. I installed the key tether in the recommended location inside the box (in the middle) even though I knew the 36” cable would be too short for the key to reach the lock. The new combination was easy to set, and I’m hoping that the shutter door when closed will protect the dials from the elements. So far I’ve had no problem with rain ingress into the box. Curiously, there is a U-shaped wire that is stored at the bottom of the box that is not mentioned in the instructions and I haven’t been able to figure out its purpose. Lock box was made in China to Master Lock specifications.

Great way to keep a key
The Master Lock - Master Lock Lock Box, Resettable Combination Dials with tether, Black is a great way to keep your key safe. I have used similar locking boxes in the past but this one has an optional tether. I was excited since the key sometimes didn’t make it back into the box. I was a little bit disappointed when I realized that the location of my box in relationship to the door is too far to use the tether. I didn’t let the tether go to waste, I stuck it on my golf cart to secure those keys. The box works well even without the tether installed.

Sturdy combination dials
The Master Lock Lock Box, Resettable Combination Dials with tether in Black is a very sturdy unit that should outlast me. The combination dials are hidden behind a protective cover that helps to shield the unit from all outdoor elements. The box came with directions to change the combination as well as directions for mounting a key tethering unit, if desired. The directions for changing the numbered combination was clear and super simple! All mounting handware was included.

Lock Box !
Very nice and secure lock box. Come with hardware necessary for installation and a nifty little tether feature. It is very easy to change the combination to get into it by using the reset button shown in the pictures. Great for keeping keys handy for multiple family members. We are using ours to lock up the barn so caretakers always have the right keys on hand. Saves a lot of steps!! Heavy duty construction. We will be buying more of these.

Perfect Lock Box
The Lock Box from Master Lock with Resettable Combination Dials is designed to be wall mounted, and features a retractable key tether to prevent lost keys. Installation is simple and secure, and resetting the combination is easily accomplished once the unit is opened. AFter mounting the lock box, you can install he key tether inside by pelling the paper from the adhesive foam on the back of the tether. Care should be taken to install it low, against the lower mounting screw, or else it will interfere with closing the box if mounted too high. The tether is 36 inches long, plenty for most all applications. Unit is secure, and has a slide up door to protect the dials from the weather. This is a well designed product that is quite handy.

Handy and Strong Lock Box
This lock box looks good and feels like it is solidly made. It comes with 4 solid 30 mm long screws to attach the box. It also comes with a 91 cm tether that you can attach the key to, so if it is near the lock you can open the door without the risk of losing the key. You can set a combination with 4 different digits. As each digit can be one of 10 digits this give you 10,000 combinations. There are instructions on how to attach the box, but I wish they would recommend the drill size to use with the screws. Directions for most things do. I suppose it isn’t too hard to figure out. It seems like the instructions to attach the tether are a little contradictory. At the top is says: Screw your wall-mount lock box to the wall…prior to installing the tether.” Then lower down it says: “With the lock box lying on its back in a horizontal orientation, place the tether case…” I think you should attach the tether first but make sure you don’t cover any of the screw holes. With this particular lock box you need to attach the tether case in the center between the screw holes.

Nice Product
This Master Lock lock box, resettable combination dials with tether is exactly what one would expect from a Master Lock product. It's heavy, robust, and well made. Once properly mounted it will be very secure and I doubt anyone but maybe a professional could defeat it. You will want to change the default code to something else - not your street number.

A "Must Have" For Every Home
Every home should have AT LEAST one of these lock boxes. I bought one a long time ago for the garage entry into our house. Over the years, we have used it numerous times when we have forgotten our key and couldn't get back into the house from the garage. I have installed this box on one of my decks and will also be installing one on my other deck. The decks are two stories off of the ground, so if I accidentally lock myself out, there is no way I can jump down; I would just have to wait for someone to come home and "rescue" me. During the winter, that could be a long, cold wait. The lock box comes with all of the necessary hardware and is easy to mount - inside or outside of your house. The box is secured by four screws. A new accessory for this box is the key tether. The old boxes, as well as this one, have a metal clasp to hold a key or keys. The tether can also hold one key or multiple keys up to five. The tether is super easy to use with the supplied Allen wrench. Simply loosen the ferrule, pull the wire out of the ferrule, attach the keys, and then re-insert the wire back into the ferrule. The recommended location for the key tether is right in the middle of the lock box. (see picture). For me, I'm not sure that I will be using it, though. The reason is that I am only going to be storing one key (for the door) and the door is located quite a ways from the lock box. The tether wire has about a 2 foot range, but that isn't far enough for my needs. I could see that if the box was mounted close to where the key is going to be inserted, it would probably be ideal for that application. The instructions for both the lock box and the key tether are included. They are very detailed and well done. I'm sure that once you try one of these out, you will probably opt for additional ones to place beside other doors in your home. A number of my friends and relatives have already purchased this lockbox based on my recommendation. When you think of what it could save you in terms of inconvenience and cost if you don't have access to the key you need, it will pay for itself each time you have to use it. You will not be disappointed with this purchase.

Useful Features, Easy Operation
Automated locksets are costly, and sometimes involve design considerations that involve matching existing door hardware. And trying to outfox intruders by hiding keys also isn’t very smart. This wall mount lock box turns out to be a cost-effective and simple solution. 1. Although the box enclosure is diminutive, measuring only 3.25w x 4.5h x 1.5d inches, there was ample interior room for the retractable lanyard tether and several keys. 2. Unlike some competing products, opening/closing the box door was easy and painless. The latch was easy to find, and to press down, and the door opens fully to expose contents. The door does not separate from the housing (as some other products do), which leaves one less component to fiddle with, and the combination does not have to be reset every time the box is opened and/or closed (also as some other products do). Once closed, roll the tumblers with your finger and it’s locked. 3. The lanyard extends about 36”, which allows the box to be mounted away from door lock; this means, the box does not need to be mounted up against the door frame, leaving an unimpeded view of the door. Yet the box and key within, are still within reach of the door. The slender tether cable is braided for extended wear and the key is secured to the tether with small hex fastener (wrench included) to minimize risk of loss. 4. The combo is easily changed by moving a lever inside the front cover. For security, changing the combination requires knowledge of the existing one. 5. The combination pad is hidden and protected from the elements by a nice flip-up plastic cover. 6. The packaging states a limited lifetime warranty applies. A few small things might further enhance the utility of this product: 1. I realize that many folks these days carry a flashlight in the form of their cell phone, but still unless mounted at eye-level, the combination can be challenging to read. A solar- or battery- powered light, or the application of reflective material to the digits, might enhance legibility. 2. The housing is mostly black and sticks out noticeably against light colored backgrounds. Maybe you want this, maybe not. For those that don’t, an additional (lighter colored) housing should be offered. 3. The “reset” lever located inside the front cover of the box is notated by raised lettering molded into the door interior, of the same color and material. It’s hard to notice (see picture). Highlighting this reset using black font would be helpful. Installation was straightforward, but other surfaces (i.e.., masonry wall), may require additional effort and fasteners. 4 wood screw fasteners for mounting through pre-drilled holes in the back plate of the all-metal housing are provided. The retractable lanyard is packaged as a separate item and its use helps assure that the key finds its way back to safe storage after use. The retractable mechanism is intended to be affixed inside the box using pre-applied adhesive tape. I’m not a big fan of sticky tape to secure components that are exposed to the elements. It will be interesting to see how well this adhesive survives heat/humidity. Screwing the retractor to the housing might have been better. The packaging states the product is made in China. Bottom Line: All in all, this is a very nice product. Well-made and engineered, the housing and locking mechanism are likely to provide years of service. Sometimes, solutions to confounding problems can be found in the simplest of forms, and this product may be one of those very useful solutions. I would recommend this to a friend.

Works great to install on an unoccupied building to provide access to a key for emergency responders. I used a permanent marker to add emergency phone number so I can provide combo. I would like to see something added to the product for that purpose.
