Worked great i tried with a sprayer but it got clogged, went to a brush and went on better. Does about 10 to 12 sections of wood fence coverage per 5Gallon bucket. So it gives a idea on how much you will need.

Use a sprayer and cover yourself
I applied it with a pump sprayer adjusted to a fine spray, and it worked well. It has good coverage and although it did run a little, it stuck to the wood and the fence looks good. Cover your hair, your glasses if you wear any, your face and hands and wear clothes that are dispensable. You will be covered in this very resistant plastic by the time you finish. I has no smell and it did not harm my plants.

Good but the coverage that is mentioned is not true, I got about half the square footage and so had to buy more of this expensive coating, it’s early days so will have to see how the fence holds up through rainy season and winter.

Excellent product. Leaves a plastic-like protective coating that is tightly bonded to the wood. I used latex paint as a second coat and it worked great! Easy water clean up.

Should have read the info better. It does nothing for graying - only protects against rot caused by water absorption. Otherwise, it's fine. For me - not worth the effort.

Very satisfied with the product. Was a little leery because of the "non toxic" label, having had bad experiences with "green" products. This stuff went on so easily. No worrying about brush strokes or drips showing. Looks great. It's been a few weeks since I applied it and it's repelling water just fine.

Went on easily with Wagner sprayer. In order to have good coverage, amount needed is half of what can says it is. Looks good, dried quickly. Time will tell about effectiveness.

Didn't last long
After our fence was built and had time to dry out we applied the fence seal. It lasted about six months before our fence started fading, now just over a year later it's completely faded. Very disappoint with this product, I would have been better off with the cheap thompson water seal. Would have spent half as much considering I used 8 gallons on just 190ft of fence. Don't waste your money!

    Very easy!!!
Very easy to apply. Use a pump spray (you can pick one up for twenty bucks) not a paint brush or roller. Choose a non windy day or you will not be covered in it. Yes it does run a bit if applied heavily but it drys quick and even.

    Exactly what is says
A quality VOC free exterior finish. It preserves the natural beauty, tone and grain of the black locust lumber I used for a pergola. A little bit goes a long way. One should be cautious when applying it with a roller, to not use a lot of pressure, and just lightly glide over the surface with the roller. Otherwise it will puddle up or run down a vertical surface. If you do that, it will apply evenly.

Additional lubing of piston type sprayers is required
I picked up a Ryobi battery sprayer to apply this. It worked fine and then the sprayer stopped spraying. I was at a loss and gave up for the day figuring I'd have to return the sprayer. The next morning I figured out the problem. Piston type sprayers use a vegetable oil or equivalent to lubricate them. Water based latex or oil paints are fine with that and it breaks down over time, but whatever it is that keeps the tricopolymer in a water suspension also degrades the oil for the piston and makes it gummy. After a few refills, I'd have to pull the piston and re-lube it and then everything was fine. Once I accepted this, it was quick to do and I lubed it every two refills and the fence came out perfect. The stuff is very thin, so I opted for two light coats and didn't have any problems with running or drips. The few drips I had, I just smoothed out and they dried clear. Since my new fence has a lot of greenery around and contact with pets, kids, and other animals, the non VOC and non-toxic properties were the main selling points for me. It was also on sale, so that was a bonus. It is also totally invisible after drying. You can feel it, but the fence looks exactly like nothing was done. Most of the other toxic sealers and clear stains darken the wood somewhat and may darken different areas or woods differently. Like I said, you can't visually see any difference in the appearance of the before and after which I like a lot. I'll have to see how this lasts over time, but even if I have to re-apply it more often, being non-toxic, that's well worth it to me. That's why I rated overall and quality good, since I really don't know how long it will last, but the company that makes this seems to have a good track record and a lot of products with this technology, so I expect it will perform well.

      Questionable
I opened the container to find the product is the consistency of water. Brushes do a poor job of holding the product and it continually runs and drips as you try to apply it due to this consistency. The instructions say it can be applied with a roller, but I see that as impossible without the applicant wearing a wetsuit. Half of the product or more will just run off of it and to the surface your project is sitting on. I called the the manufacturer's toll-free number and was told that was normal consistency. I was told, 'what you see is what you get'. I can see why this product is not normally stocked at the Home Depot stores. It sounded like a good idea, but I would not recommend this product.
