I bought the VENTS 473 CFM Power 8 in. Mixed Flow In-Line Duct Fan to use in my woodworking shop. Have been using it mainly to pull dust away from a wood lathe, which is always a difficult application. After two years of use, I love it. Most woodworkers use a simple shop vacuum for this purpose. The in-line duct fan does a much better job at collecting dust. The air flow is much greater and noise level is low. Good to have the high/low/off control right there on the fan. I purchase the 8" model (473 CFM), then connected it to 6 in. Semi-Rigid Flexible Aluminum Duct. This required a 8" x 6" reducer between fan and duct. The duct and reducer are stock items at HD. I suppose the 6" model (378 cfm) would do an adequate job also, and you would not need the reducer. I don't recommend using a 4" fan for this application. The higher air flow is definitely worth the additional cost.

I think this was one of the best investments that I have made in a long time. Works just like I expected it to.

Situation: Humidity out of control in a 24x26 detached, unheated garage due to water wicking through concrete. In Michigan, it's too cold to run a dehumidifier most of the year, as coils just ice up. Installed a year ago. This fan transformed my detached garage from a tool-rusting environment to a real workplace. Running only 4 hours per day, in less than a week my moisture issues were gone. Installing 2 more of these in my larger attached garage to abate moisture brought in on vehicles.

I purchased this product to use as a booster for a microwave 7 inch diameter vent. I used two 7 to 8 inch adapters and wired it to a switch in the kitchen. It now works alone with more power than the microwave vent and in companion with the microwave vent fan. Noise levels are very acceptable. It was an excellent choice for a non-standard fix.

I installed this fan in a residential house. It’s super noisy and you can hear it from almost all areas of the house running. Initially wanted to install few of them but just installed one to test try it. I can’t imagine how much noise would it be if more than one are running at the same time. Definitely would not recommend it for residential installations

The air volume and smoothness on low is outstanding. I would give it an excellent, top rateing but the plastic mounting ears were of such cheap, thin design that they and fan center cap arrived broken. I repaired with zip ties and installed anyway on a solid platform. No problem so far.

Very well made. It did exactly what I needed to do. The cheaper versions was a waste of time. 2 speeds is very nice & I only need it on low. 2 months in & still impressed.

Product started making a lot of noise after 2 years of use, no worries it has a 5yr warranty. Except that no one responds. Crickets...

This fan is about what I expected and works as advertised. I recommend it and would purchase another one like it if needed.

Powerful fan providing enough air flow but the noise is a bit loud at max speed

Had to remove a supply during a remodel. Used this on remaining supply. Easy to install and works great. Installed in basement off main supply to feed second floor. Good product. Received 2 days after ordered online.

Simple to install and very quiet. Worked out very well for my project.

Replaced old cheap (38$) fan that lasted 1yr...fit easily between st floor joists...modified 6" ductwork have low power setting...QUIET operation...easy mounting removing fan from fan and screwing base to subfloor above...now do not need additional hvac in attic 4 2nd floor (yup u read that right)

Great fan so far. Like having two speeds to choose from. Really helps boost the air through my ductwork.

I wanted to install a floor pick up exhaust system in my basement to help change the air in the space. This exhaust fan was installed and runs on a timer at low speed for 4 hrs/day. It is very quiet. I am very please with my purchase.

Twice the blades (twice the air flow) as the metal bladed fan it replaced. Also, half the noise.

Installed this fan in my portable generator enclosure. I like the fact that is has an electric plug so I can run it off my generator. Also like the 2 fan speeds but I keep it on high for maximum C.F.M.
