The shade works great. Check your window. If there is a plastic tab on each side at the top you do not need the accessory tray.

The instructions included with the blinds are pretty vague and the pictures are not good but aftre watching the online installation video at velux, they were easy to install. the blinds work great and block out about 99% of the sun. You can still see little rays of light coming through in the corners when the sun is right above the skylight but that's it. It really keeps the room cooler in the summer.

The installation can be very easy and quick (<10 minutes), once you understand how to slide the rail into the blind reel, but discovering that trick took awhile. The instructions could use some text to explain what to do. The blinds are made to fit the skylight and are a tight fit. They are also excellent at blocking light. The room definitely goes dark as night once the shades are drawn. However, one of my skylights must have been warped on one side because the blind would not fit at all. I had to grind some metal off the one rail to shorten it and grind some plastic off the shade handle to get it to move past the middle section. Still very tight.

We recently replaced an old bubble skylight in our bedroom with a new Velux one. Not only do we love our new skylight, but this blackout shade rocks! Super easy to install, total light blockage, easy operation, a cooler bedroom during the day and it looks nice too. Now we can finally sleep in when the sun comes up and the birds start chirping :)

I don't usually buy $100 shades but how do you hang a shade on a skylight! I was really surprised how nice this product is. It completely blocks out the light when its closed. It operates seamlessly. I don't doubt it will help insulating the hot or cold. We only had it a few weeks and the weathers mild so that's yet to be seen. It has a cute design on it, our daughter loves it. Installation was easy. The blind virtually snaps in to place. Then the rails fit so perfectly I hardly had to hold them while I put the few screws in! Wish I had hundreds of dollars more I would buy them for all our skylights! If you get this and install it yourself be aware the shade slides inside the track not under it. The directions weren't clear on that.

Pretty flimsy for the money. Installs easily, after you know the tricks (they don't show in the pictures) The side rails fit above the main part and the shade slides into it. That picture is missing. Also the aluminum rail is snug at the top to the main part but you have to leave 1/4" below the end clip so the shade will pass once passed it it will stay closed. I called the 800 number and found out they have that picture too. For the money; better instructions expected, not such a skimpy shade demanded. They do block the light and the wife is happy so I guess I am too.

Of course, you need to match these up to the proper skylight model. We simply looked at the handy plate attached to the skylight and did some Googling. Surprisingly Home Depot was the best value in terms of price. Installation was a breeze and they look great. But the one caveat is that the shade sometimes gets caught along the edge and over time I bet that wears the edges down. A reinforced edge or a better (maybe thicker) material would probably solve that issue. We are very satisfied with these blinds.

I can't give it enough stars, it was so easy to install and completely blacks out the light. Our sky light is right over our bed it is so nice to not have to sun wake you up in the morning now, especially since I work graveyard.

I am satisified with the product, it was a bit difficult to install, pictures don't always match the installation. But it works well, almost total blackout, stops the sun from heating up the room.
