One afternoon someone walked up to a neighbors patio door, smashed in the glass, walked in, and walked out with a new flat screen TV, leaving my neighbors to pick up the pieces. I felt way too vulnerable so immediately started looking for a way to avert that from happening to our house and came across this product! Exactly what I had in mind. I ordered and installed and am very pleased with the end result. The price of the unit is very good. However, the shipping charge was expensive (~99$) and took about two weeks. The product quality is very good with the exception of the rushed paint job. I had to use a can of white spray paint to touch up some rust spots and uneven painted areas but not a big deal. I did not use the included security screws because after 4 stores I couldn't find a driver for them and based on other reviews I just tossed them in the loose screw bucket. I used heavy duty 4 inch screws installing with silicone on the threads to enhance seal integrity (as another reviewer suggested). I then used silicon and lock-tight to deface the screw heads. Lastly, I painted the screw heads white to disguise which matches the gate. I installed a lever doorknob so I can still use the screen (clears the knob) with nice weather and feel secure, but rely on a small strand of robust chain (painted white to match) wrapped around (used clear silicone to attach the chain links in convenient position on the mounted frame) the frame near doorknob and a heavy-duty designer combination padlock to secure. This makes it secure and qwik and easy to exit/enter. The design is such that you can modify it any way you want basically, My install is solid, looks nice, and makes a statement. For the money you will not do better. I highly recommend this as an investment to your home. Now I worry less while away and the beach will feel that much better!

The product is a good one but is incomplete.
The product is of good construction but it needs a security strip near the center L bracket on the door nob side of the door. On both sides of the door needs security screens. The bottom L bracket needs to be pointed down on the outside of the bottom frame so it can be bolted to the concrete. The L brackets hole should be drill one inch from the end of the tab.

does the job, looks good
Much less cost than custom, but is hollow rather than solid steel. Gives the security I need for a bedroom door that I want to leave open at night for the cool breeze.
Note: Passive side does not open, both sides do not open as described. Not a problem for my application

This security door is well built and looks nice. I did have to modify the lower center brace as our sliding door sits right on a concrete platform. Had there been some space stepping down to the cement steps it would have attached directly to the house as it is designed to do. I like the finished project.

The stand off brackets do not allow for a door...
The stand off brackets do not allow for a door knob with a projection greater than 1-1/2" or it will conflict with the slider screen door. Also the powder coating color is patented so I was unable to match a custom window cover I fabricated and Unique Design would not supply the powder or coat it.

"Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,
The 3"" projection brackets that the Su Casa Patio Security Door are installed with should allow for a standard lockset that has a 2-3/8"" backset in all but the most unusual entryways.
Please refer to the detailed installation video available in the product listing at homedepot.com. There is a copy of the installation instructions available on the product page under ""Info & Guides."""

As expected, pro install required
The security door was as expected. No screen, which I would have preferred, but I knew before buying.
Due to the length of the one way screws, and the difficult nature of "redos" I would consider professional installation a requirement. We are generally handy around the house, but that was not enough! If you want to install thru home depot they want to order it, so order directly at your own risk!

You'd better read this first
I installed two of these doors and both were pried open today, less than two weeks after installation. The doors provide no security whatsoever. The problem is that they have two pieces, the door body and then a vertical bar which has the hole for the deadbolt. It is very easy to pry this apart from the door so the deadbolt just comes out of the hole. If you have two people you can actually do it just by pulling manually. Do not waste your time and money installing these doors so that you can then have a false sense of security for the short period of time until you are broken into again.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, we have reached out to the vendor and their response is, "Pry resistance for this model meets industry performance standards for this price range. For additional security, the Arcada patio security door utilizes a heavy duty 1” x 2” frame. An additional trim piece or board can also be installed on the top of the bracket foot. "

Just the right security door!
I knew I had the right security door for my patio door. It closes halfway only just like the sliding door. . The only thing I have to use two different lock sets without knob or else you cannot really close the door. It is gonna bump your sliding door. One lock set you can lock and unlock from inside and can be picked from outside to unlock. I have to get another lockset that has a keyhole so you can only lock and unlock either inside or outside with a key. I chose a deadbolt. It works perfectly. I love the most is I can lock my security door when I am at the backyard without worrying someone may enter my house thru the patio door.

Patio Security Door
Since door was just installed ...I will need to give it 6+ months to determine the quality of the installation provided through Home Depot. As it stands right now...it looks well attached. I understand Home Depot includes a 2-3 year warranty on product and installation....so if it remains firmly attached to the 6 key wall mounts and & does not show rust or deterioration problems, I will be a very happy camper. :) :)

Extra security
It serves it's purpose as a visual deterent for my deck patio doors and basement walkout patio doors. I used 2 double cylinder bolt locks since someone can reach their hands between the bars instead of the single cylinder locks. I feel alot safer at night and alot more comfortable with my wife having the patio doors open during the day for the fresh air and not having to worry about someone just walking in. The keys are in a close place if we needed to get out in an emergency. I was able to install each door in about 15 minutes.

Patio Security Door
I picked up the security door from my local home depot (ship to store). It came in approximately 3 weeks after placing an order). The box it came in was a little over 3 feet wide and about 7 feet long (easy to transport in a pickup bed). I am fairly handy using power tools and I had no difficulty installing the door on a cement stucco house. (Note that a hammer drill was required to drill 8 holes in the masonry). I also chose to add spacers to facilitate closing the patio door screen. To complete the installation, I purchased and installed a double cylinder dead bolt and standard door knob kit. The house is now more secure, and the door looks absolutely great.

Not really a "security" door.
Well made, simple installation, but anyone could reach through the wide vertical slots to unlock the gate. You'd need at least one double key sided dead bolt to secure the door from tampering, then you've also secured it from an emergency exit, think kids/fire, where's the key!!! It should have been manufactured with a screen backing.

Good Looking Door - After the Seasons 1st Rain
We liked the appearance and ease of the installation. Disappointed after our 1st rain 2/2014 draught season -- we began noticing the powder coating is not good qualify. Signs of rust are visible. This door sits back under the eves so it is not exposed directly to rain. The door will require repair and/or maintenance.

Excellent product for the price
This product stands up to anything else out there for the price. I was amazed at the ease in installing this security door. I was not pleased with the bolts supplied to anchor this security door to the mounting surface the one way screws were difficult to install but i managed with a few extra lag bolts i had in my shop. Delivery was on time at my store that i requested, and the staff there loaded it up for me with no problem. I would have to say it more than serves the purpose it was intended for and i would recommend it to anyone.

not the best
The box was torn open everywhere like it was thrown around, but the item was not damaged. Once I got it home, I noticed that the steel was starting to rust though the paint especially at the joints. As a result, I had to apply touch-up paint. It was relatively easy to install, and I like the overall appearance of the door.

WONDERFUL DOOR IF IT ONLY HAD MORE COVERAGE WHERE THE LOCK SITS!!
This door is easy to install and looking really good. There is one big problem though!! The lock can easily be removed since it has no metal to cover some of the opening where the lock sits. BOOOOOOOO!!! I would have returned it but to much of a hassle to remove and return.
I would not recommed this DOOR if you need it for sucurity!!

Our patio security doors allow enough room between the sliding patio door and the security door to insure proper operation in a wide variety of main door and trim configurations Assuming local codes allow for use of a double cylinder deadbolt, the design will deliver a secure installation."

As expected
Sturdy enough to definitely deter, hinder and slow down un-invited visitors. The "reveal" isn't perfect. After a couple weeks minor rust "drips" on flat surfaces. And, had to fabricate a one-sided door handle because screen would not close with inside handle in the way (I wasn't going to un-mount and re-mount - too lazy) Lastly, when i'm away from the property, I leave a kryptonite bike lock securing the door with the frame (looks good with a white sleeve).

Rust all over the bars after only one half winter season.
There is rust at almost every weld and in many places along the bars themselves after only half a winter season. Not pleased that I will have to try and spray paint Rustoleum and not get it on the window. My custom front door from another source has been up for five years and no rust at all. I should have gone to them!
