I bought this based on a great sale price and the description which said it would be quiet and easy to install "from the room side" as a retrofit for an existing fan. The installation wasn't too bad except for two things: 1) after cutting the excess drywall and removing it I was reminded that I had blown in insulation in my attic - but that was my fault - and 2) this fan expects 6 inch vent pipe. Our original fan - the builder's special circa 1997 - used only a 3" vent. So I had to get a reducer - actually two of them a 6-to-4 and a 4-to-3. After completing the installation, I discovered a couple more issues. First, it's noisy- really noisy, louder that the old fan. Maybe the noise has to do with the restricted vent capacity? But it's still noisy even if I reduce the CFM to the minimum level. Second, the "timed-off" feature either doesn't work or I don't understand it. I interpreted the directions as it would turn off after the user-adjustable number of minutes. It doesn't. Bottom line, I hate to have to do this, but I'm going to have to remove it and take it back to the store. For this price, the performance is completely unacceptable.
