I've always been a long time user of Scotts fertilizer products and have been using the top brand in San Antonio, Texas where it really gets hot! But I felt that I would try the Scotts Southern Turf Builder fertilizer and see exactly as to what I would benefit from it............So far it seems to be very green and and my yard is thick! A lot of people stop by and wonder as to what I do and I tell then that I just use Scotts fertilizer products and water. I'll see as the the summer comes along and see how my yard does! But for now, I'm pretty satisfied with the product.
This is my first time using Scotts Turf Builder and I am completely satisfied. Easy to apply and within a week my lawn was a deep dark green color and very healthy looking. Coverage was a bit less than mentioned but could have been due to my spreader.
I purchased a handheld spreader to apply the Turf Builder granules & it was very helpful to achieve an even distribution. After caring for 3 dogs, who somewhat destroyed my backyard grass, on top of the South Texas Summer heat, I turned to this Turf Builder product to revamp my yard. I lightly watered, after the first application, & walked away, crossing my fingers. In the following weeks, we experienced several inches of rain & some area flooding. I'm not sure if the rain reinforced how well the product worked or not, but I'm grateful for the end result. After one application, my grass was thick, luscious, & really crowded out a few weeds I saw starting to grow! I couldn't be happier & will do another application soon!
Seems like a small bag at purchase for 5000 sqft coverage, but with a properly set Scott's spreader, it will cover that with a little extra for your shrubs and such. I put it down in mid-August before a ~2 inch rain the following day and the lawn is thriving.
I tried for two years without success, some fertilizer recommended by a local nursery. I decided to try this and have been very satisfied with the results. My lawn now reminds me of the well-maintained bemuda grass golf course which I play on 3 or 4 times per week. It is a tuf life but someone must do it. I am retired anyway so the burden is not that great.
