Good product, easy to install
Like the title says, good product, easy to install. It goes down fast and looks great when it's done. There's definitely a technique to installing this flooring. I strongly suggest watching some youtube videos first, they helped me greatly. Once attached, this product doesn't want to come back apart, which is good for the final installation, but can be tricky when installing. There is a youtube video where the installer joins the seems at an angle while pressing the seam together. This was the technique that worked best for me. It's easy to work with. I scored it with a razor knife and it breaks cleanly along the score. I've heard that vinyl siding shears work well too, but I did it all with the score and break method. This flooring is not picky about what you lay it over, it's very forgiving. I put it directly over an old vinyl floor, and it turned out great. The other advantage to this product is that it's relatively thin. I didn't want to raise the height of my floor much, and this product is only about an eighth of an inch in thickness, but very strong. TrafficMaster makes a similar product that snaps together, which I have used in the past. This stick together product is far easier, in my opinion, to install. The picture makes the flooring look dark brown, but it is actually almost black.

    Iron Wood is the best
We are updating a home that was built in the early 70's. It's our second home in the last couple of years and the previous home we used wood laminate throughout. This time around we decided to use Allure. We started with the Master Bedroom and then the laundry room. We have three dogs and two cats and urine will delaminate the wood laminate. All you need is a tape measure and a box cutter. I did an 11x10 room in under three hours to include cutting in around two doors and inside of closet. This is some hard stuff and resists scratching and other damage. It feels like real wood underfoot and doesn't have "that sound" you hear with laminate flooring. Actually I can't say enough about how I like this flooring. I would say I'm a step above a DIYer, because my dad was a homebuilder and you can guess where I cut my teeth as a teenager. I know what's good and what isn't. No more laminate.
