Not even 150 hrs. Junk!
We bought this mower and had it delivered. Right off the bat the hydros quit. The dealer was nice enough to bring us another one and take the first one back. Mowed good for the first summer. The next summer the brake control module went out. (Corrosion).Got a new one, and it was ok for 1 mowing. Then it starts acting like the brake control module is going out. Back to the dealer where they told me it was a loose plug. If you look at all the electrical plugs, you will see they aren’t water tight. Moisture gets inside them and they corrode, or what they plug into corrodes. The plugs should seal like the plugs under the hood of a newer car. 15 minutes ago while mowing it looks like one of the hydros has gone out. This is my first toro, and my last. 5 grand should buy much better quality.

I really like this Toro it's got great features. it's got good speed cuts very well starts right up the zero turn is wonderful and I love having the steering wheel instead of the 2 steering bars to turn the Toro lawn mower with. I also like the parking brake when pushed (lite up) I can get off mower and it will stay running. Also the safety running blades when you go in reverse they will shut off automatically but you can turn a seperate key to turn them on and the blades will stay running in reverse while cutting the whole lawn.

I haves been very pleased so far with the performance of this mower. The steering is very easy compared to conventional ZTR mowers. The mower handles well on slight slopes and the premium seat is comfortable. I replaced my lawn tractor with this ZTR mower and have seen a noticeable decrease in cutting time. I would recommend this mower.

I did a lot of research and chose the Toro TimeCutter swx5000 50 inch. So far I am very pleased with it. Easy to use and maneuvers well. Also it was nice that it was delivered to my home. Looks like it will be easy to do maintenance on too.

      WAY TOO MANY PROBLEMS !
Back in the shop again. This is the 3rd Toro Zero turn mower I have owned. It is the most expensive by far and the worst one of the lot. If there were Lemmon Laws for lawn mowers, I'd file a claim. After 1-1/2 years and only 42 hours of mowing, this mower has been nothing but a problem. The dealer has replaced the steering linkage 3 times due to rear wheel dragging. That is 3 separate return trips to the shop. Belt problem with the mower deck (returned) Dead battery (returned) Drive issues (Broken Spring) 2nd dead battery I want a refund or replacement mower.

Great option to get zero turn with a steering wheel.
Mower has a powerful engine and a wide base which helps to hold traction on uneven terrain. I was surprised the foot mat was not included. It is a small thing, but unlike my past experiences with Toro to cut corners to snip at the cost. The cost savings was not reflected in the purchase price. Dealer who delivered it said the mat could be purchased as an option.

Amazing quality, overwhelming amount of power.
This machine is quite a beast, to put it simply. It handles everything you throw at it with ease, and if you take the thick stuff slow, you don't even need to go over it a second time. Feathers the clippings fantastically, and even without making up my own stripe kit it stripes fantastic. Toro has always made a good product. The only thing I would even closely remotely change is the discharge chute, to make it more flexible and hold it's position when you fold it up like a commercial mower. I have not broken a single thing on this mower after three months of use, once every week. The only time the Toro branded engine would not start is when I left the key in the accessory position by mistake. A good tip I would give someone though, for starting it, is to always choke it and put the throttle all the way up, and then push the choke in and idle down. Always kill the engine at full throttle. It IS VERY loud. Anyways, great machine.

Thank you for your post. We actually do still manufacture 50" steering wheel riders and they can be located at toro.com/en/homeowner/riding-mowers. Toro as the manufacturer does not control an individual retailer’s inventory. The individual retailer is completely independent and Toro has no means to regulate an independent business’ inventory stock. We do honor the manufacturing warranty based on the date the unused machine is sold based on proof of purchase (receipt). If you have any additional questions or concerns, give us a call at 888-384-9939. Toro

              I LOVE THIS THING!
I have used many zero-turn mowers at work. This mower just works better for me. It handles better than all lever-operated mowers because it's just naturally easier to keep a straight line with a steering wheel than two levers. Foot control of forward speed and reverse is so easy to get used to that it is a no-brainer! The extra weight of the front steering makes the machine much more stable on hills. I have read complaints that the left-front corner of the deck catches on fences and posts. Folks, that is what string-trimmers (weed-whackers) are made for! This machine cuts much faster than the lawn tractor it replaced. I used to spend 3 1/2 to 4 hours on lawn care. Now, I get it all done in 2 to 2 1/2 hours. I used to HATE cutting the grass because it just took so long! Now, I don't mind it at all.

I have a little over 3 acres that are hilly (none more than 15 degrees) so I needed a rugged mower. Reading the questions, I saw that someone else had a similar situation and the Toro rep recommended this mower so I ordered it. The product shipped quickly and arrived ahead of estimate. The White Glove service provided was fantastic and we were given a tour of the features and informed how to operate. I took it out and was impressed at how well it performed. Used for two more weeks when it started to tear up my grass and leave ruts. It appears that one of the transmissions died (fluid was dark brown). Since this occurred in less than 30 days, I opted to return the unit. I also note that the unit I received was a 2015 and this was purchased in September 2016. The return process was not very smooth. The company (a different company than the one that delivered it) arrived with a box truck but had no way of loading it. They rescheduled, this time dropping a pallet off first (separate truck) and then sent the same truck with a lift gate as the one they originally sent. I guess the plan was to load the mower onto the pallet, then use the pallet with the lift gate where part of it would hang over. The problem was that they did not provide a mechanism for getting the mower on the pallet. I ended up backing the unit onto the lift gate where the assistant and myself lifted the front (luckily the weight was all in the back). I expected a more professional pickup than I received. Coordination was via Text messages..... argh!

Thanks for your review. Your particular machine has received more than satisfied reviews and has between 4 to 5 star rating over these reviews. Your machine came with a warranty protection and while we understand machine repairs are inconvenient, they can be necessary with any machine. Thanks! Toro
                  GREAT MACHINE / TimeCutter® SWX5050 (74797)
Lots of power, cuts grass easy and looks like a golf course when your done. I would highly recommend this mower to anyone that is looking for a top end 0 turn mower. The steering wheel feature works great on grades. The mower is very easy to service and take care of.

                    Great mower
I have had my Toro 50-50 with the heavy duty welded deck for two years and mow an acer on a farm with mole hill everywhere that pile dirt up to 10 inches high. No problem just try to mow when it is dry. If not wash the mower when done. This mower is comfortable and tough. Some times I mow grass and weeds 24 inches tall. It may take a second cut but it cuts it. Thank You Toro. Toro cuts it.

                    Good mower. Some caveats.
Good zero turn mower. I love the steering column. But there are some caveats: 1. It's one wheel drive. For such a big and expensive mower, it really should at least be two wheel drive. 2. The starter and control wiring are unprotected right above the drive wheel. So, if a stick gets caught in there and runs around the tire... it will rip-up your electronics. DESIGN FLAW. I am on the fence whether I recommend this or not. I suspect the other mowers are just as poorly thought out. If the terraign is utterly not-challenging, this mower is great. If there is any variability in your terrain, rough patches, etc... you are taking a risk with this mower. I love it when it is not broken. Finally, and I don't know if it is just me, but the mower keeps coming unhooked from the raise and lower bar. And that is annoying.

                      Love my mower
This is the most comfortable mower I have ever used. The ride is great. The cut is even. The zero turn allows for fast and close mowing. The only negative, the throttle is in a bad location. When mowing around bushes the throttle is sometimes closed by limbs. I love mowing my yard again.

                      Had trouble since day 1
Purchased a month ago, have used it 4 mows and only 7 hrs. and already have issues. First my right front wheel and tire was bad before first mow. Had to take back for replacement. Mower now has a bad wobble in rear when going down road. The steering has been almost impossible to turn especially at low speeds during trimming. Dealer has it now and tried it today and said that something was definately wrong with steering and thought maybe a rear wheel was warped. During end of 3rd mow the mower just shutdown and backfired. Wouldn't start back, let set for 15 minutes and it started back and I finished mow. I want to like this mower badly but so far I am very disappointed and cannot recommend to anyone yet.

50" (127 cm) TimeCutter® SWX5050 (74797) I am 70 years old and love to mow grass. I have always used Garden Tractors and this is my first 0 turn mower. I would not hesitate to purchase another Toro 0 turn mower. I spent a lot of time researching 0 turn mowers and after many hours of research, I decided on the Toro SWX 5050. This is NO toy, it is a very powerful machine that can do the job without much effort.

                          Great Mower
I am as picky as it gets when it comes to purchasing a product. Bought this mower after a lot of research and I am so glad I did. I have 2 acres with slopes, tight areas, and some rough parts. This mower handled every area and then some, I used a pull behind previously with tav that took over 2 hours to cut. Cut the lawn for the first time in 45 minutes. Awesome mower and wouldn't hesitate to purchase this mower for any need.

I have had 3 other riders and decided to try this zero turn. Love most of it but do have a few complaints... I short so my husband had to build all the peddles up for me... hate the fact that every time i use it i get dirty, use goggles and face mask, but still get full of dirt... the reverse key we have had replace it 3 times in 1.5 mths... it is on the wrong side of the machine, so every time i get on and off i bend it.... the choke should be father back of the PTO, i keep getting them mixed up... hubby hates to work on it... since no manual with it.... but the cutting is great the lawn looks like rich green carpet

                            Overall a great machine.
I have only mowed a couple of times with this new mower. There are a lot of pros and only a couple of minor cons. I love the steering wheel for the zero turn option vice the lap bars. The engine is powerful and the cut is nice.. Cons: 1) Mower deck lift is heavy and could use some sort of spring loaded assist. Also, I have a hard time seeing just which height setting I am on unless I get off the mower 2) The grass chute deflector outside edge rides very close to the ground and tends to leave a small row of grass clipping rather dispersing the grass clippings over a wider area. 3) The left front corner of the mowing deck is squared and not rounded. I mow along a fence row and have to be extremely carefully not to catch that front corner on the wire fencing. A rounded front corner would allow for the deck to "rub" and slip around those type of obstacles. 4) Seat is comfortable but arm rests sit to low for me.. Would be nice to be able to adjust them to the individual

I have only mowed with it twice but so far it a very good mower I have a yard that is basically a hill and it works great which is what I was looking far in a zero turn mower after I heard so much about how the leaver models are very prone to sliding on hills. So far very good.

Trying to decide if I'll keep this mower.
There is an unacceptable amount of dirt and debris that is blown all over me, head to toe, both times I have used this mower. To continue using this mower, I'll need to get goggles because of all the debris that is blown in my eyes even though I wear glasses. Something must be wrong with my machine because I have been unable to find any other users with this complaint. I like the way the it mows, and how much faster it is than the riding mower I had before, but I just can't describe the amount of grass and debris that I was bombarded with both times I have used it.

After all is done, my dad enjoys using the unit and found that it is a easy machine to use. Had it for about 6 weeks so far , able to use it in the last 4 weeks and the only problem with unit is with the dew in the morning picking up the grass to the bagger

Happy with purchase, very good, not perfect.
Its traction and ability to go almost anywhere is nice after using a garden tractor for 20 years. Still learning how best to mow things on a slope. I was afraid of the three blades as my old one left gaps, this new one does too in tall field grass if you go too fast, have to slow down and sometimes over lap the last cut....disappointing. Don't like the contour of the leading edge of the deck on the left side, as I need to get close to fence posts, the deck has a point that grabs the post and stops the mower cold, wish it was more beveled, may try to grind it off. The electric parking brake is both nice and a pain as it comes on by itself when parking and sometimes only seems to release one side and have to push the off button a couple times. So far starting the engine is challenging when cold. Hopefully will get better as it gets broken it.
