I wasn't expecting this high quality of a window until I received this unit. I am currently building a small RV and needed a window. Yes, there are RV windows I could have purchased but these are the retro type of days gone by and I wanted a change from the traditional windows. Upon opening, I was surprised at the quality workmanship of these windows. The finish is flawless and the mechanism glides effortlessly. The screen is removable with four screws and if damaged one can purchase a repair kit sold here at The home Depot. The design will not allow leaks during a rain unless a blowing rain. I don't recommend these for colder climates unless used for sunrooms and outbuildings. In the southern climates these are perfect. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and the value of this quality window. I expect a lot of compliments with this jewel. Job well done Tafco!

The size information is wrong. First, they're only 3" deep total, and 1" of that has to sit outside the framing, so the ACTUAL jamb depth is only 2", not 3.25" as erroneously listed. Also incorrectly listed is the 24x60 rough opening size. That information is to be ignored - the actual exterior dimensions of the window as it fits in the rough opening should be 23" x 58.5". For the price they seem quite flimsy and don't fully close (?). The point of a window is to CLOSE and prevent wind and insects from passing through them - anything less than that is called a "hole" and would have been a lot less expensive and troublesome than these. Because of the bad sizing information and the apparent cheapness, I would not recommend, and I regret buying 8 of them and waiting over a month for them to be delivered. If you wasted time framing for 20x60, you're in for a nightmare trying to get the exterior spacing correct.

Nice windows for our three season porch. Keeps the rain out but still lets the breeze come through. We went from a screened in porch to these and didn't want any lack of airflow during the warm weather

very cool windows for an outside room
I bought these windows to use in a full wall of windows that will enclose 2 sides of my covered patio area. They arrived well packed and of the 8 windows and close to 80 individual glass panels, only one was broken. I replaced it at a local glass store for under $10. If anything, they are over-packed. I actually had trouble disposing of all the bubble wrap they come in. This is a very small issue given that these windows are not readily available anywhere else that I could locate. They look extremely classy in the two walls that are now complete and are so different than the usual window and patio enclosures that I have seen that my patio is the crown jewel of the neighborhood. The leak air like a sieve, so they are not good for a conditioned space, but for wind, water and sun, these take the cake for my purposes. I love them and plan to by 4 more for the covered patio extension that I am building later this month. They are a little pricey

Frame Your Jalouise Window - WOW!
This Aluminum utility window is cut precise to dimensions stated and is very sturdy when the thick window glass panes (13) are inserted. Thirteen is a lucky number on these windows! We made custom frames from pvc boards to give the windows a solid and healthy insertion unit to perfect this unique look for a Sun-room addition. The Owner was very impressed with the out come (utility windows framed - photos attached). NICE!

    Summer Breezes Best Friend
The opening-closing device "machining tolerances" make 50's American cars seem as precise as cash machines. Other than that, they do what they do very well, delightfully, and breezily. See "shipping" for sad flaws....

Product is nice quality item in many sizes
The catalog uses one picture to represent all sizes. I took the 32 in X 14, White, 6-slat model to mean 32 inches high and 14 inches wide. I needed something that would fit between studs to minimize re-work to framing for installation. WRONG. It didn't have 6 slats--it had 3! and with the slats horizontal, it was 14 inches high and 32 wide. I simply installed it sideways, but the slats are vertical, which won't keep out the wet in a light rain, which is why I chose this type of window. Nothing wrong with product--simply misrepresented in catalog. You'll be happy with it as long as you know what you're getting.

I understand the problems this year has presented and am willing to overlook the 7 months it took to complete my order but the process has been nothing but a nightmare....issues have been pawned off to tafco by home depot, and to home depot by tafco. quite the symbiotic relationship.....nobody to take responsibility for anything. biggest issue is I've got two different styles of window (of the same size in the same order) i thought it might be acceptable once installed but it's glaringly obvious when you look at them side by side...also one version is of much better quality than the other, and the lesser of them is actually quite dangerous, shooting shards of glass off the edges when the adjustment is cycled. I've reached out to tafco on this to no avail.....i only hope that someone higher up the food chain at home depot sees this and makes an effort to contact me. thank you, Robert

This is a high quality window. We installed on the door of our travel trailer. The aluminum frame is very solid and rigid; the louver mechanism is smooth, and it was easy to install. The packaging was great -protected the frame and glass super well. I look forward to years of use on our trailer. Would absolutely recommend!

I guess, first of all, it took 3 weeks to get them, and we were originally told 1 week. Second, in reading the instructions, it said the windows had to be fastened to their frames with aluminum screws. In searching, there were no hardware outlets within 50 miles of us that carried any aluminum screws. Upon further inspection, the window frames themselves are assembled with regular steel screws, so they went against their own advice. I put them in with regular screws. It's some specialty items like this, that the manufacturer should've included with the windows. The windows themselves seem to be made fairly well. I have to wonder how they will do long-term, since they're made pretty much entirely out of aluminum and plastic. They've got a good deal of weight to contend with, from the glass panes. So, we'll see. They're going to help us make a screened-in porch more "liveable" in inclement weather or winter.

Nice window with the crank that stays in place . The only problem we noticed is that when all glass panes are closed , there is a GAP ! No seal is around edges of the glass so air conditioning goes right out the window . Husband had to put something there to close the gap . Not a good design for a airtight window.
