I have this new Grape Solar "Stone" Portable Battery Charger. I opened the box and found a very simple instruction sheet. The layout for the instructions are simple and clearly stated. All you have to do is charge it up and use it when you need to power your USB device. I charged it up and kept it in my messenger bag for a few days. When I needed to charge my iPhone, I remembered that I had it in my bag. I had a full charge in under an hour. This portable power is a life saver! I really needed to have my phone powered up and I kept thinking how everyone should have one of these. The charger is so light! Very simple to use and the charge display is informative. If you rely on your portable devices like I do, this Stone charger is amazing!

Tested this with the Go Solar panel with great satisfaction. Plugged in, it charged 2-3 phones. It also charged all day in the window on the solar panel and was able to fully charge two smart phones. Price is unbelievable for backup power in the field, in the office or going green at home. Plug-in or mated to the solar panel, this is an excellent tool for those away from convenient outlets. This is a necessary component to the solar panel - was tested as such.

I work sporting events and finding a charging station usually mean leaving behind at minimum your charging cord. The stone charger is great it and my phone stay in my pocket while being recharge, I love it.

It holds perhaps a 30 minute charge. I was very disappointed.

I backpack a lot and a solar charger is important for some of my gear. I have had a Grape Solar charging pack for a while after being disappointed with Goal Zero. The Stone worked awesome for about a year, but after that, as useful as a stone. I would "precharge" before heading out for a night r two, and it would have barely any juice left a few hours later. However, the solar panel charging was way better - charges in low/cloudy light and felt more durable.

Purchased three of these for Christmas gifts in 2014. These work well and show the amount of charge in each pack via lights...I keep one in my truck and have it constantly charging when the truck runs, never can tell when your phone will need a charge when your away from your phone..

I would say that in a camping situation or if you have no power this is a convenient thing to have. Portable and small. Holds a charge. Overall a useful product.

Purchased this with the Grape SolarGoCharger 7.5-Watt Portable Solar Panel. At most, I was able to charge my S-4 twice and that was with the phone at 40% to start. The SolarGoCharger did little to recharge the Stone battery. After 5 hours in direct sun it still did not reach low charge. Great idea, but did not work for me.

I thought this would be a nice thing to have with me when I travel. Its nice and compact and doesn't heat up when in use. It will only work with devices that have a charging cable that has a USB connector on it somewhere (phones, iPad, etc) and you need to use one of those devices' cables to charge this battery. Charging the battery the first time took about 2.5 hours. Then you hook the battery's cable through your device's cable to charge it. The first time I charged my smartphone it took about 2 hours to get a full charge starting from zero. The next time I tried to charge the battery it would not charge fully. The lights kept flashing indicating that the charge was not complete. After about 12 hours I gave up. When I plugged it into the phone again, the battery only had one light lit - meaning it only had a minimal charge. It then only gave the phone about a 15% charge before shutting off. I tired 2 more times to charge the battery and it just won't charge again. Obviously defective and worthless. Maybe I just got a lemon, but I can't recommend it.

5200MAH is a lot of reserve power to have when I need it !. I've used this to power and charge my Galaxy Note tablet also as well as all my cell phones. In addition I take a lot of pictures and I have used this to power and charge my Canon Powershot camera. I love it !! I definitely would recommend this to carry with you for extra power when you need it. It also will charge from a standard USB car accessory adapter so its always ready when I need it.

I charge this with the separate Grape Solar "GoCharger 7.5" Solar charging panel for outlet-free charging. Using the solar panel, this charging stone took about 5 hours to fully charge at first usage. Once fully charged, I charged my iphone, which was at 50% power, back to a full 100% in what seemed to be a quick amount of time. I was able to do this twice more without recharging the stone. Used along with the panel, this would be great to have along on long trips like amusement parks, hikes, biking, camping, etc. This would make a great, useful gift.

The Stone backup battery pack is a well sized device that is smaller and slightly heavier than the average smartphone. You should be able to get at least two full charges out of it before needing to charge the pack itself. For me it restored about 1% of my battery charge per minute (iOS device) when not in use. So for a full charge at less than 10% battery remaining it would take about an hour and half to get all the way to 100%. Of course you can still use your phone while charging but it will be like holding a heavy key chain. Bottom line, this is a conveniently sized backup battery that will be helpful when needed.

This thing is awesome. I charged it once and used it several times to power up and charge my dead Iphone 5 and iPad Retina (4) - this was all off of one charge. If you're looking for a unit that it not brand specific, e.g. it will work with anything that has a USB cable, then this is for you! It also makes a great present for the tekkie that you don't know how to shop for. Take that to the bank. Tekkie#4591a :)
