Need to remove the head assembly to slip the adjustment ring onto the shaft. Not difficult to do. Strap works well

After you follow the instructions to assemble it and put it on maybe it will fit right. Don't stop there. Fit it to you otherwise you will hate it. I love mine now, PS some gave it bad ratings because they had to turn a few screws to attach the strap to the machine, trust me it was child's play.

Pain to install, but works as expected.

Haven't used this extensively yet, but it seems to do the job - reduce back strain when using my string trimmer. The instructions for disassembling the unit to attach the ring that holds the quick release clip are awful. The tools you need are different than what is described (torx driver not phillips screwdriver; 8 mm socket not wrench) and the way you remove the trimmer head is different than what is described. There is one bolt, not two. Most strangely, there is NO instructions on how to put the darn thing on. Took me a bit of trial and error to figure out the strap goes over your left shoulder, putting the quick-release hook that holds the unit on your right hip. Really, you could have a picture of someone wearing the unit? Better still, Echo could put the darn clip in every unit for about a nickle apiece and there would be no need to take the unit apart at all. Strap kit is still worth buying and if you have problems looks like there is better info on YouTube than what Echo provides. Would give another star or two if it came faster and/or had decent directions.

There were no issues with the shoulder strap. I had also purchased an attachment and it came with the same strap.

This shoulder harness takes much of the weight of the trimmer off of your arms and transfers it to your shoulders thus reducing the amount of strain on your arms. It is very beneficial for me since I have had issues with a pulled muscle in my right side rib cage.
