Restored my refridgerator water supply with ease
Had an old compression brass valve that provided weak pressure to my refrigerator and would no longer shut off. Simply spliced in a SharkBite Tee with a larger shut off value and back in business. Super clean and easy install in less than 20 minutes. I've used multiple SharkBite applications and never had an issue.

I am redoing an old house and replacing all the copper with PEX. I have 3/4" PEX in my basement, but my runs to upstairs are all 1/2". I am using SharkBite for all of my connections. These 1/2" to 1/4" straights are ideal for lines coming through a floor. I love how easy they are to install, and they are just as easy to remove. The simple quarter-turn ball valve (see pics) knob makes turning Off instantaneous, and when turning On, I no longer have to turn and turn and wounder if it is fully On? Make sure to turn the handle before installing. Mine was initially stuck and took quite a bit of force to move; more force than I would have like to exert with it connected to PEX. Once it finally moved, it now moves freely.

I first learned about SharkBite fittings about ten years ago when the PEX lines to my water softener sprung a leak. At that time, I'd never worked with PEX before and didn't have the tools to install PEX fittings. A really nice woman at my local Home Depot introduced me to the SharkBite fittings I would need to repair my water softener leak and I've been a fan of SharkBite fittings ever since. I ordered this 1/2 inch x 1/4 inch push-to-connect stop valve with the intention of using it as a shut-off valve on my swamp cooler water line. I didn't realize at the time that the 1/4 inch refers to a 1/4 inch PEX line which is 3/8 inch outside diameter. So this will not work for the cooler shutoff without an adapter of some sort. I could also use a new shutoff for my RO system but that also requires a 1/4 inch OD connection. There is another model SharkBite stop valve that will work for either of these applications. This valve is made of chrome-plated brass with stainless steel grip rings and plastic inserts like most other SharkBite fittings. The 1/4 turn feature means this a ball valve design which I prefer for almost all my plumbing work because turning the handle 90 degrees shuts off the water or turns it back on -- very important if you happen to have a leak somewhere up the line. Push-to-connect means it works like all SharkBite fittings: you cut your pipe end square, remove any burrs, and push it into the SharkBite fitting until it stops and you're done. If you change you mind and need to remove the fitting, a simple little U-shaped tool compresses the locking collar and allows the fitting to slip off the pipe. SharkBite fittings are more expensive than their regular counterparts but are well worth it in the time and frustration they save in dealing with plumbing problems.

I have been using shark bites for many years and they seem to work very well. There is no mess with cleaner or glue and I am not the best at sweating pipe so they are handy to use. I am also able to remove the shark bite from the pipe and re use if necessary. They can be more expensive than a copper or plastic fitting but it is convenient having it as an option.

The push fit connectors are wonderful products for DIY people and home repairs. The extra cost of these parts are made up in time and convenience. I used this in bathroom to fix an old corroded toilet. No issues at all. The best tip I can provide is to make sure the pipe is cleaned with a little sand paper, maybe 200 grit, and then use a spare towel to clean off anything else. After the prep work is done, simply slide on to connect.

Sharkbites are great products. There are easy to install and/or remove if they ever need to be replaced. No soldering is required. I've replaced most of the old supply values on my fixtures because of leasing valves or frozen valves I could no longer turn off. All you have to do is turn the water off in the house and drain the line. I typically open an outside faucet and/or the lowest faucet in the house or outside. Then use a pipe cutter to remove the the old valve just past the value. Clean the pipe with emery cloth to ensure no solder or other foreign material is on the pipe. Then you install the new sharkbite valve in place of the old valve. If there is ever a problem, all you have to do is turn off the water, use the valve removal tool that typically comes with the value and then slide the new one on. Then turn the water back on and bleed the air out of the system and your good to go.

I've always been weary of push-to-connect plumbing products, especially if they are going behind a wall. BUT, I've used Sharkbite products for years without an issue. We picked up the 1/2 IN. CHROME-PLATED BRASS PUSH-TO-CONNECT X 1/4 IN. PUSH-TO-CONNECT QUARTER-TURN STRAIGHT STOP VALVE to replace a failing toilet connection and the ease of installation makes their products a no brainer. The connection we needed to make was an abnormal size for a hall bath and adding the push-to-connect valve was very simple once the old valve was removed. We would recommend this product.

This is a quality push-to-connect shark bite straight stop valve in polished chrome. I really like the quarter turn valves because they have way less issues than the old style turn valves that slowly close off the water. The quarter turn is designed to be turned on and off routinely and has no residual effects that other valves have. I am using this to connect my humidifier to my water line. The current strap saddle valve has failed and is clogged and is no longer functioning correctly. This valve will allow me to use a stainless steel line to connect it so I dont have to mess with the compression fittings (I hate them and they occasionally fail and make a big mess). The stainless lines use an o-ring that offers a great seal and long lasting.

This is another top quality push to connect valve. I absolutely love the push to connect system. I was able to slip this on to the end of a 1/2 inch copper pipe and do two things at once. I added a valve and I reduced the 1/2 inch pipe to 1/4 pipe. How awesome is that??!! I accomplished this in mere minutes without a torch and solder. I would highly recommend the push to connect system. I prefer to use it in areas like under the kitchen sink or in a bathroom vanity or any area that is exposed.

Used this 1/2 IN. CHROME-PLATED BRASS PUSH-TO-CONNECT X 1/4 IN. PUSH-TO-CONNECT QUARTER-TURN STRAIGHT STOP VALVE by SharkBite to complete the plumbing for an ice maker line in a renovation I have just completed. The old refrigerator didn't have an ice maker so I tapped the sink water line and terminated it with this supply valve. SharkBite makes plumbing easy enough for most DIYers to look like pros.

Push to connect fittings sure surprise me at times no matter how many times I’ve used them. My old fridge water supply valve didn’t work anymore and it was compression so this new valve was fast and easy once I removed the old one. Just made sure the copper was clean and pushed in the new valve and pushed in the 1/4 copper line and a was done. No leaks. Connection feels solid and valve opens and closes just like it should. Anybody can literally install these push connect fittings and it’s made of brass so it feels quality and should last a long time.

These quarter turn valves work great for hooking up things like ice makers, toilets, sinks etc. Ice makers usually need 1/4" supply lines and this valve fits the need perfectly. These SharkBite connectors allow you to make fast, clean, quick installations of shut-off valves in tight or hard to reach areas. I have used these for quite a few connections that needed shut-offs and they always work great. Never had a leak. Strong tight connection. The quarter turn valve makes it so much easier to use. Absolutely love sharkBite connectors. A little more expensive than the traditional stop valves. But when you consider time and effort in the old solder method as well as the dangers. They are well worth the price..

Although I am a plumber, I am not immediately opposed to SharkBite style fittings. I think this one though may be a bit much. One of the most common leaks that does a lot of damage is the water line to the refrigerator. I would strongly suggest using a more solid connection and using a 1/4" threaded braided stainless steel supply line (above the floor) for the best protection and peace of mind. I would imagine most users would use the plastic line and push it in and run it through the floor and think it was so easy, until they flood something. So, while it may be quality, I couldn't recommend it.

I like the fact that this is a push to connect valve and that it is a quarter turn ball valve for a shutoff. The valve also comes with trim covers on both ends that if you remove them, they are tools you can use to disconnect the valve from the pipes you installed them on. What I don't like about these valves is the fact that once you install them on the feed and service lines, they are not solidly affixed to the pipes. They seem to seal alright but they can turn on the pipes making it hard at times to turn the valve on or off. It's not like a valve that is soldered to the inlet pipe or even locked to the pipe with a compression fitting so it can't move. For ease of use they are great but I prefer to solder my service valves on.

great little stop valve! installed in one of our bathrooms to replace an old valve at the toilet, and it was super easy to install, valve was very well made and smooth operating, I really like the quarter turn valves when you need to turn water off, as opposed to the old ball valves. This was the last one I needed to replace in our home and so glad I did. These valves are such an improvement, You cant go wrong.

My review is of the Sharkbite ½ by ¼ quarter-turn straight stop valve. The valve is so easy to install, simply cut and clean the pipe and push the valve onto the pipe. I used this on PEX pipe but it can also be installed on copper or other materials with same results. I have yet to have a leak with this or any other Sharkbite fitting. It has a shiny chrome finish that looks sharp. I like the quarter-turn style because the valve I replaced was a pain to turn 360 degrees plus to get the water shut off. Now only a quarter-turn does the job. A well made valve that I would highly recommend to friends and family.

The Shark Bites are great. Using this for a somewhat difficult situation, these Shark Bites made the repair easy. They appear to be made very well, so they should avoid getting rusty. Their appearance makes them able to be used where someone can see them as they are not ugly. You just need to make sure you are using the correct size for the pipe being repaired.

I had an old stop valve that began leaking under the sink. The valve goes from the 1/2" main cold water line to the 1/4" line that goes to the refrigerator ice maker and water dispenser. I turned off water at the main and cut off the ends of the copper line going to and from the old valve. After sanding down the edges on the copper pipe I installed the SharkBite 1/4 turn straight stop valve. I have always dreaded fixing plumbing prior to SharkBite. Now I know that plumbing can be less of a hassle due to the push to connect valves and fittings and I feel confident the connections will be leak free and hold up over time. I really like the innovative and well designed features of this product.

SharkBite has come up with a very easy solution for DIY'ers who might need a simple solution for installation of a shutoff valve that transitions from 1/2" copper, PEX, CPVC, PE-RT to 1/4" tubing such as is or can be used with toilet installations and such. The SharkBite fitting provides for simple, push-on connections to connect at both the inlet and outlet ends. The valve is a 1/4 turn valve and it is smooth and certain. The fitting is chrome and it comes with plastic, chrome-finish trim pieces for both inlet and outlet ends that snap into place to hide the points of connection and provide for a finished look.

I appreciate sharkbite connectors especially when working with PEX or Copper in tight spaces that are not friendly for crimping PEX or sweating solder with Copper. In a tight space Sharkbite connectors are as close to magic as you can get, and is exactly what we plumbing DIYers needs! Compression fittings on copper can be frustrating--sharkbite beats them across the board! My two gripes are that even with the special removal tool it can be hard to get sharkbite to disengage if/when you ever want/need to replace and I also wonder if the o-ring seal on the PEX or copper pipe will eventually fail a couple of decades down the road.

This was the perfect valve for an ice machine with 1/2" copper coming in and 1/4" tubing going to the ice maker. I'm really starting to like the push fit that shark bite offers they are so much faster compression fittings and so easily removable, took me awhile to start using them being a plumber for 30 years I always used compression or solder on copper. I was shocked to see the valve was certified for 200 PSI and 200F in wall and underground use. The best thing about shark bite is you can use it on Copper PEX CPVC. I'm really going to use it more often on these small type repairs.

I've been using SharkBite connectors since they first became available over fifteen years ago. I'm not a plumber but I do a fair amount of plumbing work on my apartment renovations. Until SharkBite I've always had a problem keeping the pipes dry enough to get a good solder connection These fittings eliminate that problem. Wet or dry just push them on and a water-tight connection is made. An added benefit is that the connector can be removed and reused with no damage to the connector or the pipe. Yes. They are a lot more expensive than standard copper fittings but time is money and after installation I don't have to cross my fingers in the hope the connection won't leak. The need to have to redo a sweat connection is very time consuming. SharkBite offers a wide range of fittings and sizes to cover every project I've ever come across. I've never had a failure and I've never had to redo a connection. As long as you start with a cleanly cut, deburred and emery cleaned pipe your connection will be problem free. SharkBite offers a 25 Year Limited Warranty. If the connector has failed due to a defect in material or workmanship during the specified warranty period, they will repair or replace, at their sole option, free of charge.

Quick connect and most importantly, no leaks. This is an upgrade from the exiting old fashion valve that seems always be leaking. No more worries. easy to install. I am installing them in most of rentals.

      I'm Sold!
So I was in the process of installing a new faucet in an 85-year-old house and realized that there were NO shut-off valves anywhere to the copper water pipes leading upstairs, save for the main house shut-off. I'm not a plumber by any stretch, and when the guy at Home Depot suggested Shark Bites, I was a bit skeptical. But I have to rave-- these things work like a charm!! Simply cut the pipe (leave at least 1.5" for the Shark Bite to slide over), hit the pipe with an emory cloth 'til it's shiny and burr-free, slip on the Shark Bite and you're done! Amazing! And it doesn't leak a drop!
