Seems sturdy. More tightly woven than regular sunshade sail. We like the color of sea blue which is a bit matte and grayish and matches well with our Cedar pergola. We bought two sails and put them together to give more shades. It’s nice that it comes with tie down hardwares. It’s not water proof and does not hold rain. But it’s breathy and hope it helps withstand the wind. We used two nylon lines to hold the sails to the pergola roof and it works so far!

Absolutely Love this sail sun shade
We absolutely Love this sail sun shade. We placed over some patio furniture and it provides just enough shade during the afternoons. It's very sturdy and resists most occasional stormy weather too.

Nice shade so far, but Mojave winds may rip it apart?
With the exception of the tensioner adjuster attachment, it's been good so far. The adjuster tensioner metal attachment spins off in the wind and the whole sail becomes detached. Within a few hours of wind the tensioned spins around somehow and comes apart. I guess I will just use some gorilla tape around it to keep it from spinning and competing apart. Won't look too nice, but I'm not sure what else to do? I'm surprised I didn't see anyone else in the reviews having this problem.

Nice product
They seem to be solidly build. The ropes and hardware supplied is not up to snuff though. I had to replace it all with heaver duty stuff including caribiner clips for quick release. On windy days I have to take them down

Pretty easy to install - make sure you measure correctly and have strong poles or surface to mount. I installed 4 of these at the top of my pergola and so far they work great to keep the sun off.

This is the 4th one we've purchased this summer and have been very happy with them. Sturdy fabric and grommets plus good and easy to use hardware to attach. We are using them to provide shade over our deck - laying them on top of a pergola-like structure. Survived a big storm and provide the shade we were hoping for. Wish there was a 10 x 10 x 10 size too.

This is a nicely designed and quality product for a reasonable price; all parts necessary to install it were provided. This was the size my wife wanted for shade on our deck. Though I argued for the 16x16 triangle or 12x12 square, the boss won. It works for providing shade for the two of us, but if you are planning for more than two, or sitting out for a while it would be better to go for the larger shade. If we sit out for more than 1/2 hour or so we have to move our chairs means to follow the shade.
I opted for securing it with an attachment to the house and two EMT conduit pipes attached to the deck (8' long x 1 1/4" diameter attached at bottom and at railing height). I would not recommend anything smaller than 1 1/4' metal conduit if you want to make the shade tight enough to withstand winds.

Great Product!! Great Price!!
After purchasing at least 4 shade canopies for the area just off of my house over the last few years. And then losing them to the wind if it came up while I was away. we decided enough was enough. I came across these and saw the reviews and decided to give them a try. So glad I did, we have left them up for a couple of months and they are holding up GREAT! I haven't had to worry about wind or rain. The hardware that comes with the sails is a great bonus! I would definitely buy more if I needed them!!

Provides just right amount of shade!
My husband secured two of the corners to the actual swingset with the provided hardware. Then he purchased an extra long rod at Home Depot for the last corner and put that in the ground. It was an easy install. So far it is a great purchase and provides us shade in the morning time when my little one likes to play on the swing. I wish I discovered this product years ago. I like the fact that I can simply unhook the end with the rod & wrap up the sunshade when we are expecting bad weather. ( just in case ) the product is like a mesh..it should hold up for quite a few years. I took a pic, but it's rainy here today. And it looks great too, not an eyesore. Stylish!

Love the shade!
We love the shade and the atmosphere that the shade sail created over our patio.
My father, who is super handy, installed it within 2 hours, attaching it to the roof, fence post and eave on the house. It's solid and secure.
We Love it!!!

Just what I was looking for
Installation was easy. I put this shade sail above a pergola so I didn't want to block all the sun. You need to watch the length if the toggle bolts. Had to get shorter because of the distance. Good product.

Functional, Effective and a Bargain
Our grandkids needed some shade while they played in their pool, 12' dia. x 3' deep. We looked at all of the options that we could find on the internet.
Our major concerns were the high winds and heavy tropical rains that we get from time to time during the summer in the greater Houston, TX, area. Strong winds have ripped out in the blink of an eye several other sun shades for us in the past.
This "shade kite" looked as if it just might work. When the "kit" (shade kite, ropes & fittings) arrived I was immediately impressed by the heavy duty quality of the kite. I wasn't expecting all of the other parts, but they looked more than adequate too.
I did make one mounting revision based upon my past experiences with high winds - I added a bungee cord to each of the 3 corners. The shade kite went up easily in less than 30 minutes, including adjustments.
The grandkids (and we adults) love the shade. We don't have to worry about the children getting too much sun while they play in their pool (sunscreen does wash off).
The kite got its first high-wind test in less than 3 days. Not only did it survive that storm, but it has gone through several more since then. It looks as good as new too :-) As for the bungee cords - they worked just great. In one heavy, tropical downpour as the water couldn't drain fast enough from the kite, the bungee cords stretched, allowing the kite's "bottom bulge" to rest on the surface of the pool's water, releaving the tension on the terminal mounts for the ropes until the storm was over. Then the kite drained perfectly and returned to it's normal position.
Are we pleased with this Shade Kite? YES!
Do we recommend it to others? ABSOLUTELY!
Would we buy another? In a heartbeat.

Great for Shade!
We purchased this for shade for our grill area on the patio by the pool. The edges are not strait on the triangle but are curved - would have preferred strait edges for more coverage. Will probably purchase another one to add to this one for more shade. Easy to install (installed in 15 minutes) with additional hardware purchased.
It's like they had random pieces of material they seamed together. It was that way on both the 16' square and 16' triangle sails. Also, one turnbuckle broke in half with the first breeze.
On the plus side, the turnbuckle broke; the sail did not rip and they do provide good shade.Time will tell about durability.
FYI, don't expect straight sides when pulled taught.

Proper sizing
Double check the size needed. Allow the extra space for the tension rods. I ordered a 12’ x 12’ which is the size of my deck. Should have ordered a 10’ x 10’. When I went back to reorder the proper side none were available.

Not to put too fine of a point on it, these sails are, well, cheap. That being said, they are perfectly fine for the money, and fit the bill perfectly. Thanks H.D.

I had purchased the 12 X 12 and needed to go bigger, with the triangle shape you lose some square footage of shade. This one seemed to cover the area I needed. Better off spending a few extra $$$ and go with the heavier weight one. Had a few rain storms and it held up

Sunny days!
Even though this is the largest sized sail, in reality you need to remember that the sun travels across the sky and 16 feet of fabric only covers a fairly small static area. What is nicely shaded at 1pm will be in direct, hot sun at 5pm... You might want to consider multiple anchor points in order to have shade at different times of the day. That said, it's of good quality, a nice colour, fairly maintenance free and of good quality. Might consider buying a second one to provide a moveable, side shade for that hot, late day sun.
