Horrible purchase
Motor broke at 4 years, replaced it for $500 and 2 years later it’s broken again. Freezes up and stops.

    I want to caution everyone not to buy a Samsung side by side refrigerator. I made that mistake. Since the warranty expired, I have been repairing it constantly. I have put enough money into this refrigerator in repairs to buy a new one and it's STILL not fixed. Everything in the bottom of the refrigerator side freezes, the water to the front freezes constantly and the inlet valve for the water has gone bad for the SECOND time! I paide $1200 for this piece of junk!!! I rarely get an ice cube out of it. Even though it is set on "cube" I get crushed ice all the time. I will never buy another Samsung!

      The fridge works as it should. But the shelves on the door and refrigerated side break fairly easily. Once the warranty is out on the fridge, you'll have to buy the shelves yourself. We've had this Samsung fridge for three years now, and have had to buy out of pocket three door shelves (they break the fastest), this is after replacing two on the door and two in the refrigerated side during the warranty period. So far, the freezer shelves have held up.

        Do not buy this fridge. Our new house has this fridge so we did not buy it ourselves. Twice in the past year, it has just stopped cooling. We have lots hundreds of dollars worth of groceries because of this. This started when the fridge began a mechanical humming sound that would come and go. After searching online what the problem could be and what other people did to resolve it, we "defrosted" the fridge. I put that in quotes, because there wasn't any actual ice built up, or any melting from it, but we turned off the fridge, unscrewed some panel, and left the fridge like that for a day. It worked for awhile. It is now happening again, less than a year later. Again, a complete loss on our groceries. The basic function of a fridge is to cool. It has no other purpose. Now, if a light stopped working, or a shelf broke, it wouldn't bother me that much. But when a product's one purpose in life cannot be achieved, you have a terrible product. I don't know why Samsung can't make their fridge cool food properly, but I will never, ever be buying a Samsung appliance again.

          First off, I'm not a brand new buyer so please take my review as a foreshadowing of what your experience will be like with Samsung refrigerators, either this one, or basically any models they make. Do yourself a favor, search youtube for samsung refrigerator and then add words to the search like doesn't cool, stopped working, noise, repair, etc.... You'll see what I mean. Ours stopped cooling the first time after 13 months, right after warranty period. We fixed it 5 times for same issue (design problem, it's can't be fixed, best you can do is repair and wait a few months to fail again). After 3 years, we just had it hauled off and spent another 2k on another brand fridge, hopefully the other brand we bought is better. Stick with making TV's samsung, it's about all your good at.

                I'm not sure if this is my exact frig but it looks like it. I've only had it for a little over a year ( of course warranty is only good for one year). The refrigerator stopped cooling, it got up to 64°. I called a service man and he said Samsung refrigerators are a problem. He checked a few different things and couldn't figure out why it wasn't cooling. He now decided that it must be the fan. Samsung will not do anything about it without the extended warranty. I didn't get the extended warranty thinking Samsung was a good quality and the high price I paid for it I figured would last, I guess I was wrong. Very disappointed and Samsung won't buy again!

                  Overall I like the refrigerator with the exception of one annoying thing, its internal lighting is quite bad. There is LED on the back wall which provides backlight only and makes it hard to see the front of anything inside if there is no light source coming from outside the unit. I wish I would have tried it first in the store before buying. Lesson learned.

                    Don't be mislead by the the Consumer Report review !
                    Hey ! We bought this fridge as rated #1 side by side fridge by consumer report and were excited with noise performance : "...noise tests, to earn one of the highest overall scores of all tested models...." I'm not saying it's not true (I did not measure a lot of fridge) it's just still fairly noisy... the worse part is that some time some coil touch each other and create a high pitched noise ! Support came and can't do anything about it...Now I guess I could ask for a refund and get another product but I'm not sure I can find a really better one and I don't want to go through the hassles of replacing a unit full of good food... So I just put a piece of cardboard between the coil. No High pitched noise anymore but on a brand new expensive fridge it's lame to have to do this kind of adjustment. Also when they installed my fridge they did not put too much effort removing the plastic cover and because of the way those plastic cover are mounted it's fairly hard to do... Bottom line : Don't get too excited like we did after looking at consumer report review, and maybe just look for a cheaper solution, at least you'll get better value.

                    Disappointed
                    I am so disappointed in the quality of materials used in this refrigerator. We had the fridge installed in April as part of a kitchen remodel. And today, I found spots of rust on the doors of the fridge. We thought being able to use magnets on the fridge was great, but underneath them spots of rust had formed on two places on the doors. I might expect this if the fridge were 3 or 4 years old, but 6 months? I will not be recommending this fridge to anyone anytime soon.

                    Stay away from Samsung
                    I bought this one 13 months ago. After warranty expired it gave error in front panel. I called Samsung they asked for about $400 to fix the fan. I've never seen a fridge that go out of service in terms of months!!! I decided to sell it and buy a new reliable American brand...

                      Worse purchase ever
                      Did not work right out of the box. It leaks water inside the fridge. Have called home depot and Samsung and neither are able to get anyone to our house to fix a "NEW" fridge. I would stay away from this product and any product that Samsung makes.

                        Refrigerator OK, but installation accounting is disappointing.
                        I'm only rating this two stars because of a discrepancy in the installation accounting. Home Depot automatically tacks on a plastic pipeline for the water supply. But, in my case, it wasn't needed. The installer said he'd arrange a credit, which didn't happen. The contract installer (GE) claims that I signed a form saying that the installation was complete, and that's that. It's a minor annoyance, but it's not right. So make sure any credit is noted on the installation papers, and keep a copy. The refrigerator so far has been good. It's extremely quite. My only complaint is that it keeps the interior too cold, using the upper end of the temperature settings. The freezer seems to be at -10 F despite the +5 F setting. The refrigerator section is a bit more accurate. Nice look, plenty of space.

                          Too noisy for my taste
                          I took delivery of my RS25H5121SR side-by-side two days ago based on Consumer Reports top rating of "excellent" on noise. I don't know what CR was smoking. According to my Radio Shack noise meter, when the compressors are running normally it is putting out 62-65 db of noise, which I found totally unacceptable. After I complained, Samsung sent a tech out, that was a waste of time because he said it was "normal" noise. Now I have to sell this turkey on ebay or somewhere and I am back in the market for a QUIET refrigerator. The other features seemed cool, didn't have a problem with anything except the noise.

                          How a Samsung refrigerator ruined my Christmas in Portland, Oregon. This year, I had purchased a new Samsung refrigerator (model #RS25H5121SR) from Home Depot on July 2014 and had it delivered and installed on September 2014. I was excited to get a new refrigerator. However, within 60 days I experienced a problem with the refrigerator. The refrigerator did not keep temperature. Both the refrigerator and freeze both did not cool and we lost our groceries for the first time. When I called Samsung service, they hung up on me twice! When I was finally able to reach a live person, they had us reset the refrigerator. We thought the problem was resolved. The resolution they provided lasted only until December. I did my holiday grocery shopping for the holidays and was getting ready to celebrate with friends and family. Today on December 25, 2014 we discovered that the refrigerator failed in a big way and I lost all my groceries and holiday meals. Both the refrigerator and freezer experienced a catastrophic failure and warmed up to 60 degrees. Needless to say everything in my freezer and refrigerator was a total loss. Thinking this over, we have lost over groceries twice which cost more than what I paid for the refrigerator in the first place. My previous refrigerator lasted 20 years, without a problem. Now, my new refrigerator has failed twice in four months. I seriously am questioning the quality of this product and would like to make other people aware of the problem, so they do not waste their time and money. After this experience, I cannot recommend buying a Samsung refrigerator.

                          Not quite as described
                          I bought this refrigerator based on the website photo and description, but was a little surprised when it came with white handles versus the stainless steel handles shown. I'd have preferred the stainless handles purely for aesthetics, but the white handles are okay. I do have a few issues with the refrigerator. The handle for the refrigerator side did not fit well, and had some "play" in it at the lower end where it attaches to the door. I shimmed it up a bit with Teflon tape to correct that. When we close the refrigerator door, there is a rattle on the right side of the appliance. It doesn't appear to be anything in the refrigerator hitting something adjacent, etc. I'll call Home Depot about this one. The only other matter is that the drawers in the refrigerator don't have very good lighting, which can make it difficult to see at night. On a positive note, the refrigerator is quiet, and the water is chilled nicely.

                          Fridge works fine. Keeps food at correct temperatures. Runs quietly except minor noise from ice maker. Main negative is poor fit/tolerances (e.g., drawers too cheaply made and too loose in racks to slide smoothly, no fridge level adjusters at rear (at front only), door level adjusters' range inadequate to properly level doors, doors also lean inward towards each other). Inside lighting only illuminates top half of fridge. Arrived with minor scratches on doors, Samsung offered $75 compensation, six weeks later I'm still waiting for check.

                            not worth the money
                            The door handle is very lose and the man who installed it could not fix it he said it is just how it comes. I cannot get a hold of anyone to fix it. We read that it is a very quiet refrigerator but in fact it makes a loud humming sound all the time, still trying to get a hold of someone to fix this, but no phone calls or emails have been returned. Came dented the first time and then the second time it has a small dent.

                            Excellent Fridge/Freezer
                            Excellent value. Everyone we dealt with at the store was friendly and very helpful. Delivery was on the date select by us at a convenient time. Setup was done in a professional and efficient manner. The refrigerator has performed flawlessly since installation. Having only had the unit for less than a week at this writing we don't have any idea of what the long term performance will be - Hoping for the best.

Bought it on-line and the price was compatible with major suppliers. Most of all I saved money buying the Home Depot warrantee.                               Very Satisfied So Far (3 Months)
                              We have owned this refrigerator for three months and have had no problems with it, and are very satisfied so far. The refrigerator space and the internal lighting are very good - we would like the door shelves to be a bit wider, but of course that would take space away from the main refrigerator shelves, so it is a necessary compromise. The front control panel is very readable, both with the room lights turned on and with the room dark. The in-door water dispensor works great, and directs the water stream into the containers very well without any spill problems and no notable dripping. The temperature controls for both the refrigerator and freezer sections are excellent; it is great to have separate cooling sources for the freezer and refrigerator. The ice maker has performed well without any problem; we aren't huge consumers of ice, and it has certainly met all of our needs without any problem. We don't notice any significant or excessive noise from the refrigerator, although I suppose that some people would find some reason to complain. It is also very nice that magnets for notes will cling to the front door and to both sides of the refrigerator of our stainless steel version. We haven't noticed and problems with keeping the stainless steel free of stains, fingerprints, or smears. We are an older couple without young children, so I can't provide information concerning use by children.

                                Not happy
                                The control panel is virtually impossible to read under most light conditions and impossible to read at night, although the mode is eliminated the location to press is not. Three large bins restrict/limit shelf adjustment. The water fill to the ice maker is quite noisy. My call to Samsung got me no sympathy.
