These grilles have top and bottom squeeze plates (advertised as “hands-free” installation). However, they make the fit more difficult if the duct boot is at all bent or distorted. Furthermore, the “squeeze” pushes the grille top/bottom walls inward, blocking ½” of free air flow. I chiseled them off.
