The lip on the back of the sink drains down allowing water to run down between sink and wall. Not immediately noticeable but will cause water damage to walls over time.

It's so so pretty and classic. LOVE IT!

As another reviewer said, these sinks have a design flaw. Bought two in 2008 and installed them side by side and "noticed" issues about 3 years later but probably started right away. The sinks are hollow and drain water gets into the cavity and then seeps slowly through the uncoated back making the wall damp and rusting out the bolts. Both units have issues but the one with the drain height of 24" is worse than the one at 22" - coincidence? Instructions give a 22" suggested drain height but doesn't say it must be lower than that. I'll contact customer support and see if it's possible to seal the back with something?

Check your tailpiece! This sink hides a little problem that can cause the sink to smell and the back to leak. There is a space between the bottom of the sink bowl and the bottom of the sink where the overflow water goes. If the overflow hole in the sink tailpiece (the pipe that goes from the sink bowl drain to the drain pipe underneath the sink) is too high, the water will collect in the overflow space under the bowl and not fully drain. It will eventually seep out of an unglazed section at the back of the sink near the bolt holes. It may also begin to smell. The solution is to remove the tailpiece and cut a new hole just at the bottom of the overflow area but above the bottom of the fixture. With this fix, ALL the water will drain. Other that this it is a wonderful sink and I especially like the raised edge that prevents spills. In general, I have had overflow and tailpiece issues with 3 different sinks styles. You must check to make sure the tailpiece matches the overflow hole/space correctly.

It has been a month now after we installed it and it looks and functions great. We love the look of it and the matching (AS Retrospect) toilet

I bought this in 2013 and have wet wall seeping too! I had two plumbers out and none could fine problems and said it must be the sink. Now reading reviews here that others had same issue. Have to do major repair now with damaged wall.

Glad I read the reviews -- I also had problem with wet wall that I thought was plumbing issue but now realize is the design flaw in the sink allowing it to slowly seep water out the back. Bolts are rusted, wall is a mess and will have to be repaired and replastered after 8 years of this sink.

I am furious this investment of almost $500!! didn't last even 8 years. When it started leaking all over the floor, I was appalled to find a series of cracks had formed around the basin and outer overflow channel. Read the reviews for just the sink and you'll see similar complaints. Just horrible quality for so much $$. I've seen antique sinks at salvage yards with more integrity. I regret this purchase, and warn anyone considering it, to think twice.

The American Standard sink here that I purchased is excellent it beat out all the other top name brands and trust me I know my Brands because that's what I do for a living I would purchase this over and over again it's got a nice wide sides the Finish is great and that's probably one of the nicest matter fact it beats out Kohler anytime!

I love how sleek and elegant the sink looks. It gives my bathroom a retro feel. I am remodeling an old house, and I think it fits the style well.. Height is also perfect for my 5 year old. This is 3rd Retrospect!

I've installed several of these sinks and I like them better than all of the others that I looked at. Slightly difficult to install as I wanted the drain to go straight down through the floor instead of a "P Trap".

I wish it were a bright white color. Seems like a duller white color.

Love the product but was missing parts. Our plumber called american standard and their response in sending part was totally unacceptable. Very very disappointed
