Garbage. Don't ever use this, get the professional ones that tighten with a wrench. It allows the rail to be manually turned askew by mischievous children at any time in the future. The posts never feel tight when a spring is holding them in their place. The drilling work to prep for these connectors is about the same skill level and work as using the professional connectors. I had a spring on one side jump a thread while tightening and had to take things apart to try again. While they were apart I discovered that the springs were turning on the screws slightly during the tightening process so you can't get equal tension on both sides. It's very hard to plan where to start the springs positions such that they will be tight enough when the rail is in it's ideal final position.
Very dissatisfied with this cool looking idea.

Hi WNYmathGuy, we're sorry to hear of your disappointment with the Spring Bolt Rail to Post Kit. Applying a thin bead of wood glue between the joints after assembly will make a permanent joint, whether it's two pieces of rail, or a rail joined to a newel post. Kids should not be able to rotate the pieces once the wood glue has been applied and dry. Again, we're sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction. Thank you.

Horrible packaging arrangement
The product is great but they are getting a poor rating because they package two units to a pack so you think "Great, one for each end!!" right? WRONG!! They are BOTH for the same end of a railing so as one tightens the other loosens. Eventually you figure out that you need the LEFT handed one TOO!! At that point, you have to go to the company website to purchase it where they rob you on "shipping and handling" that is nearly as much as the item itself! Glad this is the last railing system I ever need to build!

I do apologize for the confusion you found in our packaging. Indeed, the product you needed was the "Rail to Post End Kit" (#202756681). This kit comes with a left-hand Spring Bolt, and a right-hand Spring Bolt. This kit allows your rail to rotate in one direction, and tighten on both ends simultaneously. Works fine.
I used this to connect a 14 foot handrail to a rosette on one end and a newell post at the other end, it worked fine; the connections seem solid (time will tell) and this was easier and visually more appealing than the alternate method of drilling a hole through the bottom of the handrial and then using a plug.
