I purchased all the components for my rail system (which certainly isnt cheap) but Im willing to pay a fair price for high quality products. This rail system gives a very sleek, modern look. I would have given a 5Star rating but the brackets that fit to the wall and support the handrail clearly require 3 screws per bracket but the manufacturer only provides 2 screws per bracket - see enclosed photo, 2 brackets with 4 screws - not happy that you dont provide the fixings that are required as per your own installation instructions.

Remodeled about 6 months ago, looking for a more modern look. This certainly fit. I bought 2 with a connector and end caps originally. That is what it will take for a standard length staircase (8ft. ceilings). The length was perfect. The code inspector, however, told me I needed wall returns at each end. The reason I did not give five stars is that HD does not offer them, probably because, as I learned from the US distributor (its a Danish product), Dolle does not make a wall return for this. I emailed the distributor and received a call back almost immediately. (see website http://www.dolleusa.com/) While they do not make a return, he offered a work-around using an elbow (which HD also does not carry). They sent me two -- at no charge!!. Just installed the elbow between the ends and the caps.

My order came out short and Home Depot assistant told me, there was nothing to do with it .

Works for me! Not cheep though. I mean somewhat costly, but good quality.

It was the wrong thing. I ordered before and it was one type and they changed it. Now I have to return it.

Make sure to double check local codes before installing. I had the same issue with the handrail needing to return to the wall and could not use endcaps as mentioned by reviewer "roark" for this item. The install guide on HD's site for all the various parts in the system does not mention this as it was designed outside the US. I contacted the company and they were very helpful. I used the wood rail so the options were to miter it as you would a normal rail, or use the elbows. For this aluminum rail I'd assume you'd have to use the elbows. This is a nice system and gets a lot of comments, but it's expensive. If I can swing it in the budget may use this for a future deck also.

I usually don't post reviews, I just thought it would be helpful so other people don't go through what I went through. The hand rail scratches easier than any other item I've ever bought, you also need to purchase every single attachment to match the rail, I had to place 3 different orders, my hand rail project ended up turning up almost a 2 week project and almost around $250. worse buy I've had at Home Depot, very dissappointed.

I used this to add a handrail going down to the basement. The handrail is very sturdy with a nice finish. It can be cut with a metal blade in your saw. I think a hacksaw might also work, but it would probably take a while. After cutting, you will probably need to smooth the cut edge with a file. The length is perfect for half a run of stairs. I installed this 36" from the top of the front of the stairs.
