Perfect for Pearls that Need Minimal Polish
I originally ordered this product for my mom who graciously volunteered to have some of her pearls photographed in before and after fashion. She's had the strand of pearls for about twenty years, the two pairs of pearl earrings for eight years and the gold and diamond earrings for fifteen years. (Although the product is not specifically intended for gold and diamonds, my mom insisted on trying them out.) The jewelry is kept in jewelry boxes when not in use. Her pearls are not tarnished in the slightest, but we decided to test them out to see if it's possible for them to be more lustrous than before. My mom liked that the pearl cleaner was not sticky and that her jewelry was easy to rinse and dry afterward. The directions say to keep the jewelry in the Pearl Cleaner for one minute before rinsing. I tried the pearl cleaner myself and found the consistency to be like bubble solution. I've included before and after photos of the jewelry, and while I am not able to notice a significant difference in luster in the photos, my mom commented that her jewelry appears brighter in real life, and she is pleased with the results and the product, so she will be keeping this product in hand. (The "after" photo of the incandescent shot is more of a close up because after uploading I realized the other photo I took came out blurry.) Also of note--there's a dish inside the container to hold the jewelry, which makes it easier to take the jewelry out.

so disappointing
product comes in a small container that is hard to open if wet or if your hands aren't completely dry. first thing to remove is a plastic seal, presumably for shipping, However, there is no tab on the seal to lift it off and there it is very difficult to open. i finally gave up and cut the middle of the plastic cover with a scissor. In the process i got the cleaning fluid on me and the counter.the directions on the side of the container say to place the jewelry in the basket that is inside the container and agitate it for 60 seconds. Wow. the basket is smaller than the container and has a very small skinny straight rod coming out of it that is shorter than the container. Therefore, the rod is wet and there is nothing for your fingers to hold onto in order to agitate it. Even if you wear gloves or hold the top of this skinny little rod with a cloth you will get the cleaning fluid all over you and whatever counter you are using to hold the container level. Also the fluid has an unpleasant odor. i did not enjoy having it all over my hands I tried onyx and also turquoise jewelry. I also tried pearls. I didn't notice any difference afterwards. (and I made sure to count the full 60 seconds and not stop agitating during the entire time). the stones were only shiny after the required rinsing of the product in warm water and then once dry they looked the same as before. Worse yet, since the basket is smaller than the container, the pearls kept falling out under the fluid and i had to keep stopping "the agitation" in order to fish out the pearls and place them back into the basket. The product should have a basket that is held in place in the container with something to hold level just under the fluid so it agitates easily and the top of the rod should have a loop that you can hold securely with your finger to aide in the manual agitation. I don't think i will use this product again.

Safe cleaner for Pearls
My wife's grandmother, was looking for a product to clean her cultivated pearls. Hagerty pearl cleaner did a good job removing 20 years of dirt / dust build up. We did double dip due to the amount of build up. Lastly, make sure you have the lid on good after your finished to avoid accidental leakage from the lid rim (if it gets knocked over).
