This product is designed and marketed for minor cosmetic/surface repairs, such as dents/dings in wallboard (not large/deep repairs). The most common cause for slow dry time is related to environmental conditions (lower temperatures, higher humidity) and application of the product in excess of its recommended fill depth. As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: "One application is usually sufficient for small repairs. For repairs deeper than 1/8”, apply two or more layers allowing spackling to dry between applications." Because you did not provide any details regarding your experience, such as the application surface, temperature, humidly, depth of fill, or application technique, it is difficult to provide you with a more detailed reply or specific product usage guidance in this format. With respect to your commentary indicting: “it bleed thur my paint leaving brown circle”, would appear to signal that your wood contains sap/and or tannin (wood resin) or that there may be a metallic fastener in your wood (in proximity to the repaired area), as there is nothing contained within the DAP PATCH-N-PAINT formula that could produce a “brown” color as you indicate. Because you did not provide enough details about your attempted use of the PATCH-N-PAINT or your attempted finishing process, it is difficult to provide you with any specific guidance in this format. As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: "Contains: Crystalline silica. Sanding of this product may generate dust. Inhalation of dust may cause adverse pulmonary and respiratory effects. May cause eye, and skin irritation. Do not breathe dust. Use only w/adequate ventilation. Ensure fresh air entry. Wet sanding is recommended to reduce dust exposure. When sanding, wear a NIOSH-approved dust mask. Follow dust mask manufacturer’s directions for use." PATCH-N-Paint is not designed or recommended for large format repairs or “skim coating” and/or “taping and bedding” applications (applications that require the use of traditional joint compounds). Based on your commentary, it appears that this product was purchased based on in-stock availability, rather than for its appropriateness for the intended application. PATCH-N-PAINT is specifically formulated as a low moisture/low density spackling compound for faster dry time/paint time. PATCH-N-PAINT does not dry with the same hardness as traditional heavyweight spackling compounds. As this is a water-based (acrylic-latex) formula, the sole drying mechanism is the evaporation of water. Dry time can be significantly impacted by cool or humid application conditions, moisture in the application surfaces or by thick (deep) applications of the patch. The most common cause for slow dry time/development of full hardness, results from application in excess of the recommended fill depth or application outside of recommended guidance. As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: "One application is usually sufficient for small repairs. For repairs deeper than 1/8”, apply two or more layers allowing spackling to dry between applications." and "PATCH-N-PAINT may be painted within minutes with a latex paint. Please follow paint manufacturer’s instructions for application. If sanding is desired, or if an oil-based paint is to be used, allow to dry thoroughly, approximately 24 hours, longer dry time may be required in cooler and/or more humid condition or where deep repairs have been made." Full dry/full hardness will only occur once all of the water contained in the formula has evaporated.
