GE icemaker
Unit works well in 20 year old refrigerator with a slight modification to adjust for change difference in plug in connector. Home Depot performed as advertised with the right product delivered on time. Job well done.

Great Disappointment
After my original ice maker (IM 5ss, I think) was replaced after 7 years with a substituted model (IM6D, I think) the temperature readout on the refrigerator (Model PSL42LGRBBV) door is often wrong, It is inconsistent and shows freezer readings from -1 to up to plus 10 degrees while the internal temperature does not appear to change. Ice in the storage bin is frequently found frozen in clumps. I suspect that the false readings are related to this replacement ice maker, probably when it heats up. I would not recommend it to anyone.

First, please try resetting the circuit breaker to your refrigerator. This will often reboot the internal circuitry and may resolve the issue with your display.

Quick and Easy Ice Maker Addition
I am very pleased with the PVC Ice Maker Kit. It was simple to install and was working in no time! I was so thankful to have plenty of ice during this hot summer!

good product with bad install instructions
The install instructions that came with the product was not helpful. If I was not already somewhat knowable about how to install the ice maker I would not been able to install it by using the instructions.

PVC ice maker kit
Actually the product was okay,but came with a broken part. Unable to get a replacement part without a huge hassle from GE. Apparently that was because I purchased it from Home Depot and not GE direct. Therefore would never recommend buying GE from Home Depot.

So far so good.
It makes ice pretty quickly, half way filling the bin daily. I didn't give it a 5 star because ice does get outside of the bin. Cannot comment on the installation as I had a professional plumber install.

Don't waste your time or money This ice maker makes perfect size ice but barely makes enough for two glasses per day

Hello STMicemaker - this is Nancy at GE Appliances. We are sorry to hear that your icemaker is not making enough ice. Ice production is dependent on freezer temperatures, which are affected by the temperature control settings (setting should be 5 and 5 on models with knobs, 0 and 37 for models with electronic controls and 26 cu. ft, bottom mount settings are –2 and 38), door openings, and food load. More food in the freezer will keep the temperatures more stable which will help the icemaker perform more efficiently. The frozen packages act as insulators to keep the cold air in. GE recommends that the freezer be kept three-fourths full for optimal operation. If necessary, use plastic jugs filled two-thirds with water to increase the freezer load to three-fourths of its volume. On a new installation, please allow up to 24 hours for the icemaker to begin cycling. I hope this helps! Thanks for choosing GE and for providing your feedback!

Easy to install...
I was replacing an older model ice maker that had begun to leak. The replacement was easy to install and works flawlessly. 20 minutes is all it took.

Painful to install
It may be my out-dated old fridge, but it was a very difficult process to install this ice-maker.

Ice maker wont fit.
contacted GE about an ice maker for my fridge. They told me to order this ice maker and it will not fit. The connector that goes into the unit for the electrical is different and there is not way to make it work. It looks like I just wasted my money.
