Nifty Product
At first I struggled to get this working. But then I realized I have a non-standard router configuration for this switch (I have a standard Apple router) and it was easy to figure out the issue and get it working. The socket plugs into your outlet and then you plug what you want into the socket. It is easy to turn on and off. I think it's neat that you can control it from another location. I could see that being useful if you maybe had a light plugged into it that you wanted on or off, or perhaps a coffee maker that you forgot to turn off. I think the calendar function is great, too. I plan on using it for my Bunn coffee maker which doesn't have a built in timer function. You can also use a countdown feature to have something turn on for a set amount of time. The socket is relatively inconspicuous. White, small and only a small light to indicate if it's on I don't think anyone would be bothered by (or generally notice) it's appearance.

A new device for Home Automation enthusiasts.
The Bayit Power outlet is a new addition to the Home automation. The Wi-Fi enabled socket connects your appliances and electronics to your Wi-Fi network, allowing remote on and off control to your appliances/devices from anywhere in the world. The possibilities are endless. It is very simple to install and operate, with your Smartphone. Installation takes about 5 minutes. The Power outlet is rated 10 Amps, that is about 1200 watts on 120 vac power. But it is safe to use about 1000 watts. I tried my electric tea kettle for testing purpose, and it worked fine. Overall, it is a very good device, and I would surely recommend to all Home Automation enthusiasts.

      Worked for me (Android)
I easily set two of these up on my wireless network (Motorola SBG6580) with no issues. Using the Android app. YMMV as you may have one customized setting or variable where you run into issues.

      Excellent item
We got it and set it up. Worked right away. Only draw back is you have to have wifi for it to work. I was hoping it had some type of built in signal. Otherwise it was perfect.

        Not worth the trouble
Bought this switch and it worked fine for awhile. After the software updated on my phone the scheduler did not work anymore. Tried everything to get it working. Contacted customer support and after awhile they sent me a replacement unit. Got it and that switch wouldn't ever power on. Not sure I want to waste my time getting another replacement considering the history of the first two. Steer clear...

        Doesn't work
Works *sometimes* when I'm at home on my WiFi, 3G or 4G, but once I leave the area, whether I'm on someone else's WiFi, or on 4G or 3G, it almost never works. And I have a security camera system that works over the WiFi and proves that the switch isn't working (I have it connected to a bright lamp). Save your money

          not ready for prime time
It was difficult to set up (Apple router), but after a struggle, I got it to work. It worked perfectly as long as I was within my home network. Outside the home network, either on the phone or on another WiFi network, it worked sporadically. About 3 out of 5 times, I would get an error message saying the plug was not online. I tried resetting it. Same problem. Bottom line: When it worked, it was great. But, it is unreliable. Not worth the money if I cannot rely on it when I am away.

          Good Product
Good Product. Does exactly what it's supposed to do. I have the app installed in both my Phone and Tablet. I use it to turn on and off my Dehumidifier. Had a little trouble installing the software, but I'm not really technically good understanding software installation. But after some tinkering and getting the learning curve down pat, I got it working. Takes a few swipes of the little "slide switch" on the app to get it to turn on or off. My Dehumidifier turns on or off instantaneously when the switch is activated, no delay at all. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the product.

          Good Idea - Needs Improvement
The idea of a WiFi controlled socket is great and I was excited to try these for 3 lights that were on manual timers. The setup was pretty easy, and once I had them programed and deployed they worked fine turning lights on/off. Once they were set up, if I tried to turn and light on or off manually, I would almost always get a message stating that the "socket" wasn't on line. Meaning it wasn't on my network. Also, the on/off schedules for each socket can only be modified when the router can "see" them, which is not the case most of the time. This is frustrating when you have to make adjustments for the changes in sunset times often. As a result, I'm finding that I have to unplug the socket and plug it in by my router to adjust the timer, and then plug it back in. I have a Netgear R6300 dual channel router which I can pick up at my neighbors house, so I know that it's not an issue on my end. I also e-mailed customer support with a question and never received a response.

          Works as advertised
A solid, well-built device that works as advertised and bought for a fair price (25% off). Pairing to my iPhone and iPad was a little tricky. As another reviewer noted, the socket had to be physically close (within inches) of the iPhone/iPad during pairing to be recognized. Once pairing was established the socket could be plugged in anywhere and remained paired to the iPhone and iPad.

          Product is good
Would have given this five stars, if the set up would have been easier. I almost returned this because the app would not recognize my secure network. I waited a couple days and gave it one more try and this time it worked. Not sure what the issue was as I didn't do anything different the second time I tried it.

          Great little device...
This WiFi switch does what it advertises and remotely controls any device plugged into it simply by using a smart phone with the app. It was a little less expensive than other brands which is why I chose Bayit. Setup was a little clunky, the directions did not always match what was happening with the device. It took an extra 5 minutes to setup and a few head scratches but it is now up and running. The other quirk is that while you can manually turn the device on/off from anywhere you have an internet connection, you must be connected via WiFi to your home network to make any schedule changes. If you're away from home and want to modify your scheduled on/off times, it's not going to happen. Other than that it certainly works just fine and it's a fun thing to play with... or mess with someone else!

          Installation unsuccessful
I tried setting this device up on my network but neither option (using your own network or the Bayit's network) for installation was successful. After several attempts, I decided to abandon the project. I can follow instructions and have set up my home networks several times over. I couldn't see any obvious reason for the failure. FYI - I'm using an Apple device running iOS 8 and using an Asus dual-band router. Nothing is worth this hassle. You may have success as others have; I didn't.

          Set up is a pain.
Okay be ready to be frustrated. If it goes good for you, you are above the curve. Instructions in the box do not tell you everything. Before you start throwing things look on the web site. After an hour of doing everything about 4 times I looked on line. In the box you will find a note saying "WE'RE HERE TO HELP!" After you stop laughing as there is NO PHONE NUMBER TO CALL! You have to make up a ticket which they will contact you. Well that was 3 hours ago. No call or email. I found on line my problem. Using the AP setup it kept switching my router to a WIWO at t he top section. Down in the middle you'll see your router, pick it. Just follow the instructions on line. After that. We'll see how it works.

            Works well. Setup wasn't easy.
This WiFi outlet works as designed. I can easily turn it on and off from my phone both inside and outside my home network. My only complaint is setup wasn't easy, and I consider myself pretty tech savvy. All it needs to be easier is well written instructions - they were downright confusing. I figured it out, but I'm not confident everybody will be able to.

$10 less then WeMo Switch- Carries fewer Watts 1200W vs. 1800W and harder to set up than WeMo
I started off with a challenge Configuration successful and no devices found Bayit technical support suggested I move the switch closer to the router Going from 20' to 1' helped me get the switch was configured. After initial setup, I relocated the switch to my desired location and it worked OK at that location I also tried the switch at a location farther from my router at it proved dependably undependable.
