I am told that I am somewhat eccentric when it comes to showers. I start every day with a shower and I put a great deal of importance on it starting me off right. Part of my eccentricity is the shower/stream room; that includes a couple of different type shower heads, a body shower and an earlier version of this wall bar shower. It’s located off a common bathroom that is separate from the master bed room area. In many ways, it fits the description of a man cave amenity. The room was built about 15 years ago using Grohe plumbing fixtures exclusively. My wife selected Grohe because she liked their modern styling. They appeared to be of good quality so I accepted her preference with one exception and that was the wall bar shower kit. It had too much plastic for me to accept it as a quality fixture. However, I went ahead and installed it with the idea in mind that I would replace it after I had taken time to look for a better product. That was 15 years ago, and even though I am still not fond of plastic, it works so well that I wouldn’t consider giving it up. The plastic is holding up as well as chrome or better, so if quality is based upon performance I probably should reevaluate my criteria. The shower head is what makes this fixture so special. It gives you the ability to select different spray patterns and because it is hand held you can focus for effect. I always prefer to start with a rainshower head installed on the wall with a shower arm. That way I can lather with both hands. Then I finish off with this shower head. Depending upon my mood and the time I have, I may select the focused burst or the pulsation massage. There is no real pattern to how many settings or what setting I choose. Although, I am a bit partial to the air infusion setting. This shower head could easily stand alone. It works well on the bar. But I have gotten into the habit of starting with a wall mounted shower head and finishing with this hand held. To me it is analogous to eating your meal and finishing with desert. I did include some pictures so you might be better able to visualize what I am trying to say. The second picture shows the new shower head on the old plastic bar.

Exactly what we wanted to compliment our other Grohe shower heads and trimset. Works perfectly and holds adjusted height.

This item is made in Mexico appears to be designed in Germany. It has a Limited Life Time Warranty. It's mostly plastic except for the vertical bar the shower head holder moves up and down on. The assembly/installation instructions are a sheet of pictures and are OK at best. They do not mention the Shower head and accompanying hose. The shower head works fine. The best part about this item is the height of the shower head holder is adjustable, so the height can be changed for short people to tall people fairly easily.

This is a really nice shower-head that has adjustable height and can be swiveled it also comes out and can be hand held to wash any area on your body. Great for washing your kids hair or for seniors sitting in a shower chair... With a almost 70 inch hose. Installation takes abut an hour with drilling some holes for anchoring the posts and attaching the hose to the shower,, Not a difficult job for a handy person. And makes for a great shower when your done with your choice of 4 different spray patterns. A good looking well built shower-head that is well made and easy to install and only uses 2.5 GPM.

Pros: The soap holder is great. It is large enough to put your soap as well as a razor. I love the bar where I can raise or lower the spray head to the best height. As well, the tilt on the spray head holder helps to get the right angle. Cons: The Brushed Nickel finish is not as nice as I had hoped. It appears to be mottled and almost like there is a brownish tarnish on it. No amount of gentle cleaning/polishing has made any difference. As well, the handheld shower head spray pressure is not as strong as I had hoped. The spray head does not have an 'off' option so cannot turn off the spray so that I don't waste water. (We have switched the spray head to another sprayhead with on/off toggle that we had from before. It's not brushed nickel, but is much more functional.) The shower hose looks awful. It looks like a piece of gray plastic with ridges and a big bend in it where they folded it in half. (Once again we replaced the hose with the proper metal flexy hose from our previous shower.) I almost wish we had bought the product in chrome so it would have matched all the older parts we switched over. Or perhaps not purchase online so I could see the product on display. But, we're not going to take it all back at this point now that it is installed.
