Excellent for roof removal and also other demo jobs
We had our house re-roofed recently and the contractor wanted $1,500 to remove the old roof. The house was built in the 40's and the old roof had been re-covered several times and was up to 2" thick in places. We bought one of these shingle shovels and it made removing the old roof in 4' x 4' square sections very easy. We took the roof down to the deck and you need to be careful not to damage the wood deck with the 'teeth' where there are seams between the deck planks, however this is quite easy to do with a little practice. We found it 'popped' roofing nails out with ease too. More recently, we were demoing a porch and I found the roofing shovel was very useful as a more general demo tool where the 'teeth' can be used to pry apart 2 x 4s and 2 x 6s that have been firmly nailed together and the 4' handle gives a lot of leverage.

The teeth on this are not flat as you look across the base of this so it would not catch all the nails, etc. I never used it, I put it back in the box and brought it back for a refund.

I used this very shingle shovel for an entire roof job. It's built fairly heavy and with the right force works well, but takes some muscle to get the teeth under some shingles...It works very good a removing nails fast and easy without bending, used like a wrecking bar to pry up nails easily. This is probably best for the hard to remove shingles or double layered...I would go five stars but It did take some sap to finish the job even with this usable tool.

Great Product but missing bolt
I would give it a 5 star if it wasn't missing a bolt on the main scraper. Need better quality control before shipping. Other than that it is a great product.

Works well, but still hard work!
This shingle remover works very well. The large fulcrum and sharp leading edge makes it easy to get under the old shingles and pop them up. The short-ish handle is the perfect length for the job. Construction is sturdy and should last a long time. Just one minor complaint; check the carriage bolts that fasten the blade to the handle. They have vibration proof nuts that should never come loose but one of mine did come out and I lost it.

Much better then other shingle removers
My brother in law has used regular shingle removers for years and when stripping the shingles off my roof he would not touch or use the other shovel. Only this one. He was amazed at how much easier it was to use then other shovels.

Sturdy must have tool for removing an old roof.
Very well made tool. Must have been designed by an old roofer who knew just what was needed. I have worked on roof tear offs and used spades and specialized spades just for roofing and none of them worked as well as this tool. It even works great for removing boards and sheets of plywood for replacement.

By Far The Best
This was by far the best tool I have ever used to remove shingles. It is well built and should be very durable over a period of time. It does weigh more than a regular shovel or pitchfork. it has very good leaverage and makes shingle removal easier. It is excellent for removing staples and nails also. I would highly recommend this product.

If you want to strip a roof fast, this will do it
I was easily able to strip a roof with this tool. Must faster than a hammer or crowbar. The time in labor it saves paids for itself. It easily remove whole and broken shingle, underlayment and the nails. When I was done it was clean and ready to have a new roof installed.

Well Built
This product is well built (In the USA I believe). It performed the job well I only used it a couple days on a porch demo job I did on my house but it did what I wanted it to.
