It is possible through over tightening to snap. Please contact our Customer Service Department so that they will be able to evaluate this issue and possibly process a replacement. Rodger, thanks so much for sharing your feedback online! Due to this Rod's aluminum makeup, it is lighter weight than most rods made of steel. We assure you that it is designed to hold a shower liner accompanied by a decorative shower curtain. Should there be an issue with your rod staying up, the installation measurement may need to be adjusted. Please see that your rod is extended 2" beyond the measurement of your tub opening. This is a twist tight tension rod. Instead of spring tension, it has a cam nut that expands as the rod is twisted to lock in place. There are 2 easy installation steps: the first is to extend the rod between the wall, and the second is to twist the rod until tight or locked in place.
