This fan is very pretty and works as designed. I don't like plain fans so this one for the price is great

For me, the fan was the perfect combination of elegant and rustic that I was looking for to put in our log home. The teak blades played off beautifully against our white pine ceiling, and the ornate glass shade set the tone I was looking for.

Pro: beautiful seeing from outside during the daytime Con: cheap construction; weird light bulb position; ugly shadow when lights on My installer tells me that the fan is cheaply made (I just hope it will not fall off one day). There are 3 candelabra sized light bulbs inside, which are situated very very close to the base. They get extremely hot quickly. I changed them to LED candle lights, which have lightly fatter bulbs - could barely screwed on (not enough space). With the LED lights, the whole thing is still not bright at night. Another annoying thing is when the lights are on, you see a very clear shadow of the blades on your ceiling. When the fan is off, the shadow is eye catching and ugly. When the fan is on, the rotating shadow makes you dizzy. I spent $100 to install this $150 fan, so I cannot return. If I could install and uninstall myself, I would return it! Don't waste your money!

The fan is nice looking--but the description online and the box don't tell you the downrods are NOT standard size 3/4 inch width--they're 1/2 inch--so you'll need to buy a special adapter (separate purchase). Downrod is short (I think 4 inches), so if you want to mount longer--will also have to buy longer downrods separately. Just something to consider when you're comparing prices.
