The plastic seems a bit fragile and not flexible. I used a 1/2” to 5/8” slip joint to attach the hose and the plastic whitened under stress. Attaching the air gap to a standpipe with a hose clamp also caused the air gap to whiten. Hopefully both attachments won’t crack or crumble the air gap. Only time will tell.

Works as described, would be nice if they threaded the inlet.

I used this Keeney air gap mounted on a 1 1/2" standpipe drain for a water softener with a 3/8" ID discharge hose. The top of the Keeney will not hold the hose in place during discharge. I did the following procedure I read in another review, and it works great. Thread the inside of the top with a male 3/8" pipe tap. Then screw in a nylon 3/8" male thread X 3/8" hose barb adapter and secure the softener hose to the hose barb with a screw clamp. As also suggested by the reviewer, I drilled a #6 hole through the side of the drain standpipe and ran a stainless steel screw through the hole and into the body of the Keeney air gap. This is because some reviewers stated the entire air gap would eject from the drain pipe during the high pressure discharge phase. All works fine now with no splashing. I suggest Keeney thread the top of the air gap as a courtesy and also offer the threaded X hose barb adapter as an option, because this particular adapter can be hard to find.

Noticed a small leak and used the Home Depot Picture analyzer to look up the product. It was exactly the same and leak has been solved.

I installed this unit per specifications attach the backflow tube from my Rheem water softener. During the backflow process the receiving hole in the device could not take the volume of water being sent from the water softener, causing a backflow all over the floor!

The product seems to be of good quality. It was easy to install without tools.

Like some of the other reviews a little tiny bit of water splashes out but works good otherwise

Water splashed out of opening when water softener is recharging.

This was required to pass inspection by the local water company. I had to mate it to a PEX pipe on the softener and had to use several plumbing components to get the right fit. With the volume of water that passes through the Air Gap when the softener regenerates, it splashes a little water out of the gap. Overall, it worked for what it is supposed to do.

Very universal fitting well thought out product also looks very professional .

This product is totally adequate for its purpose. My only con is that the device easily accommodates only one size of delivery hose. If the waste hose from your device (a water softener in my case) is not just the right size, you will need to arrange some means of securing the hose.

Little bulky

The opening is too small for my arsenic filter, but may have worked for water softener. The greater flow rate of the regeneration spilled out of the unit.

This works excellent. Previous system use to require me to keep a bucket under the water filtration discharge pipe. Since installing the Kearney, I no longer have water escaping from the discharge. Great product.

This item is versatile and easily fits into a standard drain pipe.

The only thing that would improve this product would be to provide a better way to connect the discharge hose to it. After looking at all types of clamps, glues, and threaded pipes, I wound up just stuffing the water softener discharge hose in the end of the air gap drain and held it in place with aluminum duct tape. Looks home made but works. It would have been better if there was a half inch tube on top that you could put a hose on with a hose clamp.

Product worked fine on water softener line. I was worried about fit but flexibility of product to use in different configurations eliminated any problems.

Worked perfectly for our Water Softener installation.
