It seems to work as expected, and looks very good in my kitchen. Will work with bags from discount store. This makes it reasonable to opperate.

We replaced a GE compactor that gave out after 21 years. The Maytag is more powerful and holds more trash but is considerably louder. Overall we are happy with the replacement. Don't go the route of the special (expensive) bags as a 30 gallon Hefty works just fine

I've owned this compactor for over 10 years and it has been a warrior. We used it every day and it performed like a champ. After 10 years of faithful service, and heavy use, it's finally time to replace it. I can honestly say we got our monies worth out of this unit.

Purchased for a busy house - garbage service only provides 1 can - now everything fits.

I bought this to replace a GE compactor that was nothing but trouble from the day I got it until the day it finally failed completely. This Maytag unit is of far better design and Quality. I especially like the "Solid" compacting option, which holds the trash compactor in the down position, which increases the capacity.

Since we have bought our newest trash compactor we totally enjoy it.

The Maytag is a good looking and functional replacement for our old compactor. Styling is simple and clean, and it works as it should with no objectionable operating noise. Opening/closing it is the only negative - it is very catchy if you try to use the handle unless you pull up firmly. The foot pedal works best, but the pedal itself clicks loudly when closing. Some foam inserts quieted that.

This was a replacement compactor and it is so much quieter than our old one. I am very happy with its performance too!

The house had a trash compactor when we moved in and we figured we would replace it with one that matches the rest of the appliances we purchased. Looks great, simple to work and install. It is louder than I expected, same noise level as the 10 year old one we replaced. The latch when closing the device is loud also.

This compactor is the best! It has great features. I love the extra pack! There is no point in having a compactor if you don't have the solid pack feature and this is the only compactor I saw with that feature. It also has a nice air filter and a removable off-on handle in case you have children.

This product is exactly what I was looking for. It was very hard to find a black appliance today with all the stainless in the stores. I like the features of this compactor better because of the air filter. It eliminates and odors' that sometimes occur. One bag a week is all we take out to the curb. Couldn't get any easier than that! The shipping and service was done also by someone who cares. They didn't back down my driveway for fear of the truck being too big, and coming in contact with a low hanging tree branch. They unboxed, place the compactor where it needed to be and they were gone in less than 10 minutes. They were also very respectable and nice.

It's exactly what I expected. Looks great and works well. We had a housewarming party for the neighborhood with disposable plates, cutlery, and napkins and we didn't have to empty the trash once! It can be a little noisy, but I wouldn't expect quieter in this price range. Good value, good buy.

Bought this 2 month's ago. I can go 3 weeks' without taking out the trash! Love the feature of extended time to compact more.

We love our new Maytag compactor. Easy to install, much quieter than the old one we replaced. About the only "complaint" we can muster is the lights indicating the compactor mode could be a bit brighter. Other than that...excellent!

This compactor is just average in its functionality and got jammed after only 5 weeks. Had to call for repairs. I'm not thrilled with this.

We like the product, We had the misfortune that the it worked flawlessly for a couple of weeks and then quit running.It has been repaired (Defective start switch) and so far so good.

This compactor has been flawless since we installed it a month ago. The compactor has all the features we were looking for at the lowest cost. Like the 5 to 1 compact ratio and extra compact feature.

Door makes loud noise every time you shut it- like it does not fit right. Seems light weight compared to my last trash compactor. Definitely does not have as much compaction capability. Dread opening it because of how it feels and sounds....

We had no problem with receiving or getting this trash compactor installed and working. It is better than the one we had and hopefully will last as long as it should because it does not make grinding sounds when working and is easy to operate.

Not as good as the 7 year old Whirlpool it replaced. The old one was quieter and packed better. This one also seems kind of cheap when you close it, not a solid sound, like a poor fit but can't adjust it out.

Solid machine. Noisier than any other unit when it compresses we have had before but it is bearable. Sticks out a little further too but not too bad. We've had terrible experience with durability with a certain other store brand. Hoping the Maytag brand lives up to its reputation. Saw reviews on smudges and fingerprints and that's been an issue with every black compactor we have ever owned, just comes with the territory and we would have the same problem if it was stainless. We love having a compactor and can't imagine not having one.

I have always had bad luck with compactors and swore I'd never get another one. However, eventually I was worn down by my wife and she purchased the Maytag. It seems relatively well made, in a week we now use about 1/3rd the containers/barrels in taking our trash to the curb. I like the plastic bags, haven't had any problems with tearing as I have read in other posts. Overall I am pretty satisfied with the unit. Only time will tell if it will stand up to prolonged use and mechanical compression that caused past failures etc.

I'm very pleased with this new appliance. My old compactor was 20 years old! This one is so quiet and I love the foot actuator which opens the dispenser. Additionally, The Home Depot Brand bags work beautifully with the unit and are reasonably priced

We recently replaced an older compacter with your product. The odor filter works marvelously and we are able to get two weeks trash in a single use. We couldn't be more satisfied.

This installation is in a cottage location where I used to have to drag all garbage home after a weekend. Now I only have one bag to care of and there is no odor in the kitchen. It looks great in my new kitchen!

Very nice compactor for the price.The closing latch needs a bit work and I wished the ram would extend further into the bin.Only time will tell if the closing latch will hold up over time.After researching compactors for a week this one was without a doubt the one for me even after looking at compactors that were twice the cost.It should be noted that during my research I found that the same frame and internals is used under multiple brands. The only differance is minor features and the lipstick. You can prove this to yourself by downloading the operators manual. It is the same manual except for the brand name.

One garbage bag a week! That is all it takes. When you own a compactor, you compact your garbage so that it Is only necessary to empty it on garbage day. This compactor has a fan to eliminate odors, duel crushing ability and two ways to open the door. Couldn't go back to having a dirty trash can in my kitchen.

This Maytag compactor is okay. However, changing the rear wheel height is no picnic. The front height adjustment levelers are also a bear to reach. The front door feels loose and should be much more "solid" in it's travel.

I like the product, however, it doesn't seem as sturdy as my previous compactor. $800 is a lot for an appliance. I like the solid pack feature and fan.
