Great Shower Faucet. Great Price
The only reason for 4 stars is the water flow. Many faucets allow your to remove the flow restriction devices. The flow is not as strong as I would like but assume that is normal with most of the newer "low flow" designs. Otherwise this is a really nice looking, well built faucet. It gives the look and feel of faucets that cost much more. Nice metal (brass) parts with very little plastic.

Bad flow rate. It was installed by a plumber as the entire house from the well pump was re plumbed. The only place in the house that didn't have proper flow was in this downstairs full bathroom. Many people complain of pressure, it's flow that is the issue due to some restriction or orifice. We, me and plumber tried everything and even calculation the flow it was less that .6 gallons per minute with the shower head off. The cartridge was removed and still less that .6 gallons per minute through valve body. Had to cut drywall, remove valve, re-plumb, new faucet fixture, drywall-er, painter, total cost with the new fixture was about $1000. Problem the valve casting had flashing from the casting and there was only a small opening on the inlet from the house water pressure @ 40 to 60psi. It was a defective valve and cost and extra $1000 to repair. If you use American Standard don't put it in the wall. Maybe for a sink, not a shower, quality is not good. If you feel your flow is not to 2 gal per minute test it with a bucket and stopwatch. My inlet plumbing had over 5 gal per min flow before this valve. If you can get at the valve check the ports, if they are full of casting flashing it's the valve. PS. American Standard sent me cartridges, the cartridges were good, valve body was the issue.

both the shower head and the the control valve both broke (leak in shower head, and control valve doesn,t work) within a few months.

Installation specs are wrong, or the shower arm is too short.
If you install the shower arm connector inside the wall using the stated installation guide dimension from the finished (tile) surface, and this distance is greater than 2", the supplied trim Ring will not fit correctly against the wall. It is stuck on the bend of the supplied 6" shower arm. American Standard Customer Service would not or could not supply me with a longer shower arm that would have fixed the problem. Now I have to find an 8" arm at HD and purchase at my cost. Not a bad product, but the Customer Service is terrible.

It didn't work, and American Standard didn't care.
We bought this at Home Depot because we liked the looks of it. When my plumber found out that the valve cartridge and pressure balancing unit didn't work (internal components), American Standard told me that "the best that they could do was take 5-7 working days to get that component set to me". Basically, I can be without a shower for 1.5-2 weeks waiting for them to take care of me and hope that my plumber can come anytime I call to fix it!. Gonna be honest, with the cost of this unit vs. the cost of overnight shipping, they have proven that they just don't care.

        helpfull customer service
I installed this unit during a bathroom remodel. Experienced a small leak after assembly. I inspected the cartridge assembly and found that it had a screw that wasn't fully tightened and a rubber o ring that had not seated correctly. I spoke with American Standard customer service and the explained how the o ring wasn't seated properly. Without hesitation they told me they would send out a new cartridge assembly which arrived in a few days. In the mean time I was able to seat the o ring properly and tighten the screw which stopped the leak. I re-contacted A S customer service in order to return the new cartridge and they told me to just keep the part as a spare. It's been in now for 8 months and has been just fine. It is a low flow device controlled at the manifold so the flow is not as strong as I would like. But in my state of residence that is all you are going to get due to state water saving regulations.

        Total Piece of Junk
First of all the part of the product that you do not see (the parts behind the cover plate) was basically assembled upside down and backwards so we had to switch out parts and the next one was assembled correctly. I do not know the details other than the first one couldn't be installed because things would not fit together correctly. Once we got one that was assembled correctly and had it installed, it worked fine for about 18 months and then started spewing water out of the top of the shower head but below where it screws on so not sure what is going on with that other than American Standard has very LOW STANDARDS and their products are total junk! Pretty ridiculous as I have never had this problem ever before in my 50 years of experience.

had problems with leaking from the shower head
This shower kept leaking from the shower head. American Standard was very helpful in providing me with parts, numerous times. First, the anti-scald limit did not work. Second, the hot water did not work. I was sent the parts a third time because there was always a leak from the shower head. So, I replaced the cartridge and valve three times, but the leak never stopped from the shower head. This has wasted a lot of my time and I was disappointed in the product because it is wasting water. I would not recommend this product because of this issue. I cannot afford to re-do the entire shower faucet with another brand because new tile was put in and it would be a major hassle. As stated, the American Standard customer service was impressive, but it wasn't enough when the product does not work properly.

          Read The Instructions
When you consider buying a product, be sure to read the instructions. This product is pressure balanced and low flow. The spout will only produce about 5 gallons per minute at average household pressure and the shower has a maximum flow rate of about 2 to 3 gallons per minute. If you want fire hose pressure, make sure the device does not limit flow rate. In this water saving world, you will need to get used to lower flow rate on the shower and faucet fixtures. This product does what it is supposed to do - make sure what the product does is what you want before you buy.

          Pretty but weak water flow
If you like a hotel shower this is for you. But if you have great water pressure and want a good strong stream this is not the fixture to buy.
