As has been noted in several other reviews, this bookcase is very heavy and I had it delivered via Home Depot's "white glove" service. The guys did a very good job of carefully unpacking before bringing it in the house, and (as several other reviews have noted) the bookcase had a few dings. It was obvious by where the scratches were that these occurred before leaving the manufacturer, since the packaging (and paper around the bookcase) was pristine. Fortunately, one of the larger scratches was on the side that I was going to be on the floor, so it worked out ok. The other small one I am going to doctor with a furniture repair pen. I could have sent it back, I suppose, but I may get a replacement that has more dings, so I am keeping it. Overall I am VERY happy with the bookcase because this is the ONLY cube bookcase that I have been able to find that will hold fully loaded 12 x 12 scrapbooks without collapsing and falling into one another. They slide nicely into the cubes with a little over an inch clearance at the top, and I have arranged the bookcase to sit with the long cubes horizontally. This is the first time in 20 years I've been able to have all my scrapbooks together in one location.

These bookshelves are beautiful. They are very heavy, but we undid the box then slid them onto a blanket and pushed them into place.

Great bookcase at a great price! We bought it when it was 30% off just after Christmas. This bookcase is heavy and solid. If this is your style, this bookcase is a great price even at regular price. Looks great with the rest of our furniture. We were a little concerned at first since there was damage to the box from a forklift but the damage was to the box alone, not to the bookshelf. We had the bookshelf delivered to the store and they loaded it into the back of our pickup.

Good quality! I love it. Exactly as pictured.

Purchased this item last month. It is VERY solid furniture, and nicely heavy at 200 pounds. It comes assembled and the box is big. It is a square, so the pictured shelf format is changed without reassembly just by rotating it. Note, it does not have surface etching as do the other items in the Maldives collection-- the surface is smooth-- but the stain matches nicely. I would buy two if I had room.

This is a solid piece. It can be flipped in any direction, no top or bottom, no back or front. No assembly required. The delivery crew set it near the spot I wanted it, then I opened the box and slid it in to place. Beware, delivery took over a month, but it was worth the wait.

The first bookcase was cracked but customer service arranged for pick up and re-delivery no major issues doing that. The 2nd bookcase was a true beauty ...super heavy and looks amazing!!!!

I have been looking at this piece for ages it seemed, finally purchased this beautiful, beautiful bookcase. It is beyond my expectations, classy, yet rustic, perfect for my room! Thank you for having quality pieces of furniture. I Love Home Decorators!

I love the simplicity of this bookcase and find it a perfect display case for my husband's pottery. Everyone who has visited our home has appreciated it as well. Please note that it is very substantial!

Love this bookcase- needed something for books and for displaying items. I was able to put in a basket at the bottom shelf that hides all my computer cords. Nice heavy peice.

This product was priced very attractively, and has an impressive finish. It is certainly very heavy and sturdy and compares well to other bookcases I have purchased. I gave it one less star because it had small cracks in various points when it arrived.

This was an excellent purchase. Quality is very good. Product weighs 167 lbs and is VERY difficult to maneuver so best pay to let the guys bring it all the way in and remove the toughest industrial cardboard and staples I have ever seen. This piece will be with us a very long time for sure!

I was reluctant to purchase because I thought the price was a bit high. But I couldn't find anything else that could compare. After a month or two of coming back to this bookcase I finally decided to make the purchase. It arrived sooner than expected. The delivery guys were wonderful and were nice enough to take it to the lower level for me. It looks as beautiful as I had hoped. Fits in well with an eclectic mixed decor. It was VERY dusty after removing the packaging (which took an effort and 2 people!). As I was cleaning it up I noticed some inconsistancies with the finish. However; you only notice them close up and I think they actually add to the character of the piece. I think it's the perfect mix of Modern and Rustic.

This is an excellent value. It is quite heavy but that is a plus. The delivery team was nice enough to bring it inside. Took a bit of work to get it out of the thick cardboard box. Once out, it shone!

Great value, not only are they beautiful, they are practical too. I bought 2 of them. Nothing currently compares on price/quality and look ratio and I have been looking for a while.

We love the piece and it nicely matches a dining table with benches that we also purchased from Home Decorators. There's not set-up but the piece is VERY heavy.

Love the contemporary clean lines of the design, the deep brown stain matches perfectly with existing furniture. Disappointed that it's not Solid wood, not sure what's inbetween? There are many surface imperfections, some indigenous to the wood others due to craftsmanship. The cost fit our budget well so we're overlooking the flaws :-)

We are so pleased with these two bookcases on each side of our fireplace providing abundant display and storage space. The built-ins we intended during home construction never happened, and our corner walls in this living area have been bare almost six years. What a difference it makes to complete this room…the dark shelves pop against the white-washed bead board walls because the backs are open. Customer service was also very helpful before purchase concerning our question whether the back of each case was also finished in order to flip the second case for a mirrored effect to balance the room. The size (54"x54") was a rare but perfect fit for our space since we have windows above each bookcase. Expect this item to be bit heavy and to have a slightly rustic finish. A great value and no regrets...We love it!

The Maldives Bookcase is stunning. The shelves are substantial thick shelves and crafted from beautiful substainable wood. The arrangement of the "cubbies" make this piece unique from all the other cube cases out there. The only con I had was the woods a little rough in some areas. But I could work around that. I love it!

I love my new bookcase. It looks like I expected...maybe slightly better. It was positively FILTHY when I got it, though. I've never seen that. It also took the movers a long time to get the bookcase upstairs (about an hour). It's a very heavy piece, but I couldn't understand why the movers didn't know that beforehand. They said they needed an extra man. We certainly knew it. That's why we decided to just pay for the 'white glove' service. Definitely advisable, if you need the piece to travel up or down stairs with a fairly tight turn. Other than that...we are pleased!

We love this bookcase. It's heavy, have friends available to help you get it in the house. But is pretty wood, easy to dust and really makes a statement. The friend that helped us get it up the stairs was overheard telling his wife they need to go look at it for themselves!

The wood grain is beautiful! There are some little flaws that I think give it more character. Seems very solid and looks wonderful in our family room.

The Maldives wide bookcase is a great addition to our living room. The only negative is there were some nails that are popping through on the inside of a couple of the shelves. The items I placed on the shelves cover them so I didn't think it was a big deal as it fits the rustic look. The overall construction is quite sturdy and aesthetically pleasing.

I have nothing but the best things to say about this open book case. I have been looking for years now to find a rock-solid and good looking book case for my LP collection, and this one is just perfect. It looks great, complements my hardwood floors (which are walnut color also) holds the many LPs beautifully, and you can be sure your friends will envy you when they see it. I can highly recommend this book case.

The Maldives Bookcase is a great show piece to add to your room. It definitely makes a bold statement and is a beautiful conversation piece if it fits your decor. It is very "rustic" looking - and as the other reviewers have noted has a few nicks/bumps from the journey to you. Also please note it is extremely heavy and with the normal shipping they do not bring it in your house. So, plan for that if that is what you go with!
