I was surprised to know that Home Depot carries food slicers! I use this to slice different types of meat for jerky. It works great. It does work best if the meat is slightly frozen. This slicer works wonderful for its pricing point. I would recommend it!

I bought a really cheap food slicer and was extremely disappointed. After reading that this Chef's Choice was rated as the best for the price according to Consumer Report, I decided to buy one. I'm very pleased with it. It comes with a serrated blade which has met almost all my needs. I've used it to slice stick pepperoni, cheese, and frozen sausage (roll into patties). I've tried it with lunch meats and it works fine, unless you prefer wafer thin slices. For that you'd need to buy the non-serrated blade. For home use, at least for my needs, it's a great slicer.

Used it to cut salami, tri- tip and bulk cheese and very satisfied so far. You can set it for nearly paper thin slices. However, the depth guide plate is plastic and will flex if you press food really hard against it causing it to cut inconsistently thicker, so use gentle pressure for consistency. Don't know why some reviewers complain about being difficult to clean. I found it very easy to disassemble and clean with only a toothbrush which gets into the nooks and crannies as well as cleaning the blade. Even though there are better slicers out there this does a great job at a fraction of the cost. I gave it five stars for overall value.

After using this slicer a few months I can now report that you will love this product. A very well thought-out design. There is a ten minute time limit to avoid over-heating the motor but I rarely have need to use it that long. With regular use the blade will require honing on occasion and more lubricant on the backside. I'm using a Dremel Tools stone and spray-on white lithium (use plenty) grease. With this occasional minor maintenance my slicer should last a lifetime. Thank you Chef's Choice and thanks again Home Depot! Rob

I checked for reviews online before this purchase. They listed it in the top 10 meat slicers. It was the cheapest and had 5 stars while everything else didn't. Works great and was same price from competitor so i figured easy return if not amazing. Just wish they sold blades for it online to .
