Commercial/Spec Grade TR Receptacle
The best price in bulk (10 pack) for a high quality commercial/spec grade TR receptacle that I could find. Sturdy feel due to metal backstrap with high quality electrical contacts. This should be mandatory in every home.

High quality product at a great price. Putting shore power in my cargo trailer and these are just what I needed to be sure that I had the correct outlets for specific tool I may be using. The product come with clear instructions. Leviton makes a 5 star product you can trust and rely on to do the job. Commercial grade product. Photos are of the start of the install.

Most excellent product
This is an excellent receptacle. The instruction and information sheet is top shelf. As you will see from the photos that I am putting shore power in my 24' cargo trailer. I opted for a breaker box from Home Depot to bring in the power. You can see where I have installed two outlets next to the incoming breaker box, which will be installed below the work bench. This was the perfect receptacle for the job. NOTE: all electrical work should be done by a certified electrician.

Consumer grade outlets usually feel flimsy and do a very poor job of retaining a plug, especially after years of use. These commercial grade outlets cost a little bit more but are well worth the investment in a heavy usage environment. Flexible wiring options, easy insertion, and firm retention make this product an all around winner.

Cant say much about item , but I installed on a 20amp circuit and it's not tamper resistant, An electrician told me I dont have to use these in my house because most things dont require that much amps, maybe in a shop with heavy duty tools, things like fridge, washer , dishwasher are fine with 15amp receptacles. Unless code requires somewhere specific, my county doesn't require them in my house.

Nice outlet, I like the metal strap on the back to prevent the outlet from cracking in half when installed on the old single screw plate covers. Wiring for this outlet can be secure with either a loop or a 1/4" or so strand under a plate that the screw secures. While that is convenient, I always use loops on my outlets. I went with almond because the store was out of white and its in my basement utility area so I dont care what color it is. This outlet is made in the USA.

The Leviton BR-20, 20 Amp Duplex Outlets are high-quality, well-constructed Commercial-Grade outlets. Commercial Grade is more robust / heavy-duty, and thus should be more durable than Residential Grade outlets. They carry a 10 Year Manufacturer’s Warranty. I purchase them in the 10-Packs for the economic advantage of bulk pricing. Outlets are generally classified as Residential Grade, Commercial Grade and Industrial Grade. Industrial Grade is typically “overkill” for any residential application, and the considerably higher cost is generally not justified. On the other hand, Commercial Grade outlets provide a heavy-duty alternative to the light-duty residential outlets, and the cost is still reasonable. These BR-20s are constructed of heavy polypropylene plastic, with a heavy-duty, wraparound mounting strap which is made of galvanized steel. The BR-20 outlet faces are indented (the flush face model is the CR-20). The BR20s are manufactured in the USA; they are not imported like the CR-20s. These outlets do not have “stab-in” wire connections, like less expensive, less durable Residential Grade outlets. These outlets can be side-wired or back-wired. Back-wiring is accommodated by brass clamp-plates mounted under the side terminal screws. Either method is very secure, reliable and electrically superior; more so than stab-in connections which have only minimal contact between the conductors and the outlet terminals. The BR-20s accept conductors up to 10 gauge. The power contacts are thick brass, and provide a good, tight plug fit and superior plug retention. These 20 Amp outlets are of course required for dedicated 20 Amp circuits feeding appliances / devices such as refrigerators and microwave ovens. However, you will often find that the electrician has installed multiple 15 Amp (Residential Grade) outlets along kitchen counters, which are fed by 20 Amp circuits (verify at the electrical circuit breaker panel). This practice of multiple 15 Amp outlets on a 20 Amp circuit is common, and is absolutely acceptable in code. Even intermittent use appliances, which draw less than 15 Amps, like toasters, toaster-ovens, and similar small kitchen appliances with resistive heating elements or powerful motors can accelerate wear-out on those 15 Amp, Residential Grade outlets. Hot outlets, plugs or cords are a warning sign that should not be ignored. It is very reasonable to replace those 15 Amp outlets which serve toasters, countertop broilers, etc. with these heavy-duty 20 Amp outlets when the old outlets need to be replaced. Each of the components of these Commercial Grade 20 Amp outlets is more heavy-duty and more durable than Residential Grade outlets. The BR-20s have thicker plastic, thicker brass, wraparound mounting strap, etc. The Leviton BR-20 outlets are a wise choice based on their attributes, coupled with the still reasonable cost.

The receptacle is a very well made device. It is made out of high impact resistant thermoplastic for an extended life and high performance for both commercial and home applications. The built-in protective shutter mechanism prevents foreign objects from being inserted into the receptacle contact openings, but still allows easy insertion of the proper plugs. The tamper resistant (TR) logo is clearly visible on the face of the device. The green grounding screw and self-grounding clip allows automatic grounding connection when installed in a grounded metal junction box. This outlet is designed with a shallow body design for maximum wiring room in the junction box. Featuring washer-type break-off plaster ears, this receptacle is designed to perfectly fit any installation type while preventing floating installations. The electrical connections are simply made by striping the wires using the gauge on the back of the receptacle and looping the wires clockwise ¾ turn around the screw terminals then tighten down the screws to secure the wires.

Heavy Duty Receptacle Made to Last
This commercial grade receptacle which is labeled Preferred on the packaging is designed for installation in heavily used areas where power cords are frequently inserted and removed. The side terminal design helps to make wiring easy from the side or from the rear through a compression plate under each screw terminal to secure wires up to 12 gauge. The tamper resistant feature provides additional safety for children through a plastic shutter mechanism that prevents electrical contact with the hot side of a receptacle from the front of the receptacle until a power cord is inserted into the hot and neutral prongs of a receptacle simultaneously.

        Easy to wire
These receptacles are marketed as Commercial grade; they are stamped Spec grade -- both questionble designations. The device is pretty easy to hook up as it uses a clamp style termation at the screw. I have used some that have a hole to guide the wire into the clamp that are really good, but these aren't quite that good. Still good though. This is my first experience using TR receptacles; the shutter offers a resistance to the plug that feels like a bad socket, but the plug eventally goes on in. These would be difficult to use for an elderly person with weak hands. For those who take the time, tech support recommended a torque value of 12-14 inch pounds on the screws. The brass screws look a lot like the nickel screws, so you need to watch out to be sure the black wire is on the side with the shorter slot.

Had a need for an outlet that could handle 6 -12 ga wires even though it was a 15A circuit. This was easier than making a pigtail.
