I received this as a gift a few weeks ago and am thoroughly disappointed. It brews inconsistent amounts of coffee and takes an inconsistent amount of time for each brew cycle. The result - it's impossible to fine tune your brew. Even if it was consistent, it brews too fast, despite the fact that some engineer designed it to pour, pause, pour, pause... to obtain the perfect cup. For example, it brews 3 cups in under 2 minutes. You will never get anything other than mediocre to bad coffee from this waste of money.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this coffee maker in the past 3 weeks. So far it is exactly what I hoped for in making great coffee by soaking the grounds slowly. It greatly reduced the amount of coffee I need to use and the taste is rich and strong. My only negative is it’s size. It is very tall, so I move it out from under the cabinet to make coffee so I can pour in water and not steam the cabinet while it brews. I’m sure they could make it shorter. Otherwise, a great coffee maker.

I use a Kitchenaid grinder for freshly crushed beans and the pour over method is exceptional Looks great on the counter. Easy to use, pour, clean. Only niggly negatives are: no automatic start and no reusable filter. But a strong recommendation to anyone who loves their coffee

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Got this in a silent auction about a month ago and very pleased I won it. We really noticed a difference in the taste of our coffee right away. It takes a bit longer to brew, but it is worth the wait. I do wish the carafe was bigger though. I also like the looks of it.

My wife and I purchased this coffee maker a couple of years back and were originally pleased with its performance. However, shortly after the warranty had expired, the machine began to "cut out" before the brewing completed (and made higher-pitched "completion" beep prompts) and had to be restarted multiple times to complete brewing. The condition only got worse and is now inoperable. We were told by KitchenAid multiple times that they would not replace (what we believe is a defective machine) as it was beyond the warranty. This this was an expensive product that failed well before it should have. We were loyal Kitchen Aid customers for years, and unfortunately expected better.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the way this brews my coffee. HUGE downside that Kitchen Aid no longer offers the eight cup glass carafe replacement. It was a big investment to begin. I have use another brand carafe with a trivet in order to use it at all now.

When you get this to work properly, it sure does make a great cup of coffee. Our issue is that occasionally we'll set up the machine before bed, and then wake up to find half the water has leaked out into the pot, through the grounds. It doesn't happen consistently, but it sure is inconvenient.

Purchased 3 days ago. Every time water is added to the unit whether it is 2 cups or 8 it begins to leak cold water into the basket before it is even turned on. Very disappointed in what I thought would be a quality made product considering the price point.

We live in Costa Rica, so most people use the pour over method - be it a bit archaic. I loved taste so much I tried it at home, but it's messy and not very aesthetic. So, I bought this. The flavor it produces is excellent. I suppose the heating element doesn't keep the coffee at a proper drinking temperature to preserve the flavor, but it's less convenient. We end up making a pot, then pouring it and reheating it in the microwave. Not optimal, but it does taste better than other brew machines. I'd recommend pouring the pot into a thermos container immediately after brewing. Other than that, it's a beautiful machine and in two years since it was purchased, we've never had a problem.

errible quality, wish I had never purchased this dud I have owned many KitchenAid appliances and coffee makers and this one is a dud. Coating has flaked off the warming plate, regular 4 filters don't fit into it properly so the coffee often comes out too weak, no gold filter available as the basket is a non standard size. I have had this about 6 months and it was a waste of (a lot) of money. Stay clear!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been searching for a good smaller coffee maker for a long time. This one gives great flavor if I make 2 cups or 8. Absolutely no complaints so far. I'm so happy that I researched this time!

I had this for a week ,never got a good cup of coffee from it. First thing it never got the water over 178 degrees , it is advertised to reach and sustain 195 - 200 , nope .I tried different grinds and different coffee/water ratio's and the coffee always had a bitter off taste to it . I wanted to like it , just could not get a good cup of coffee ... went back to my Aero Press , a little more hassle , but always a good cup of coffee . Maybe I just got a bad / damaged one , but for the price I was not amused with the performance .Returned it for a refund.

While this is an SCAA certified brewer that is capable of making truly excellent coffee, you will have to take a bit of time to get the right roast, grind and coffee to water ratio to get there. Running the machine for the first time, I understood this was not your standard pump-drip machine. It has a separate boiler and a spray and pause cycle, and the heating element under the carafe is separate from the water pump. I grind my own beans, and it took a while to figure out how fine (a bit finer than canned coffee), how much (17:1 water to coffee ratio by weight for 4 to 6 cups finished coffee) and ultimately the roast. But after a few pots of making adjustments, I have truly superb coffee, as good as any barista can manually pour. Now for the quirks: All of the No 4 filters i have tried are too big, so they need to be folded along the length to fit. It would be nice to have a thermal carafe. It can be difficult to see the water level in the reservoir. Some people claim it is difficult to pour in the water but this is a non issue for me. The warming plate only stays on for an hour, and does not keep the coffee hot enough. In conclusion, with a bit of effort this machine makes truly excellent coffee, but perhaps not to everyone's taste. Before buying, I would suggest going to a local coffee shop where they prepare manual pour over coffee and try a cup. If you like it, you can rest assured that this machine can do as good a job. I'm actually very impressed that KitchenAid made one of the most affordable certified pour over brewers on the market and I hope this commitment begins to carry over to their other products. I'm looking forward to the 2nd iteration of this machine and I'll probably buy one..

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This coffee pot looks great on my kitchen counter, very stylish. The coffee tastes much better than my old coffee pot, but unfortunetely does not stay hot for long at all. I would not recommend to a friend unless you drink the pot immediately after brewing. Normally love kitchenaid products, but this is disappointing for the cost. Needs a better warming feature.

We've owned this machine for two years and have gotten many compliments from guests on the great taste of this coffee. However the machine's electronics have folded and it won't stop boiling the water and never reaches the next step of starting the pour process. You would think Kitchenaid would build quality that lasts.

First and foremost, this makes great coffee. That said, there are a few negatives. The heating plate automatically shuts off and cannot be turned back on without going through the brewing process again. This model doesn't include programability either. If you're considering this model, check out the KCM0802OB instead

I love the smell of fresh brewed coffee, takes a little longer but the taste is worth it. This brewer also takes very little space on the counter. I really enjoy my new coffee maker!

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) For about a year now, we've been buying our coffee beans whole, and they're only roasted when an order is placed. We grind them only when we actually make coffee. I've wanted to take advantage of our fresh beans, and experience the so-called "coffee bloom", but I wasn't interested in a manual pour-over setup. I decided to try this machine, and wow... I can't believe I can get coffee this good at home. It's easy to fill, easy to operate, and easy to clean. My only wish would be for a larger carafe. We have too many requests for a second (or third!) cup when we have friends and family over. We'll done, KitchenAid!

The coffee maker adds a great retro look to the kitchen and is a great step up from a normal brewing machine. While it does seem to brew my coffee a few degrees cooler than usual, I'd say it's a negligible detail. Overall: Classy look and delicious coffee.

I am very impressed with this coffee maker. I was a little skeptical about the difference pour over would make but I'm sold. I'm using less coffee than I did with my old Cuisanart and getting more flavor than ever before. I wish it were 10-12 cups because at the rate my husband drinks coffee I'm most often making two pots a day with only an 8 cup, but it's worth the inconvenience. I haven't had it long enough to comment on longevity. It seems like nothing lasts more than a year anymore but I'm hoping KitchenAid will surprise me.
