Hot water seems to cause cracks. I almost bought another one as a replacement, but I am glad I checked here first. No signs of damage to the finish that you would get from impact with a hard object. Cracks slowly formed, and then a big chunk fell out. See photo.

I reason why I had to buy a replacement in the first place was a nail polish fell from my medicine cabinet and put a 5-6 inch diameter hole in the sink. I was shocked that a little nail polish bottle could do that damage but I even more shocked when I saw the sticker price. If something this "fragile" yet durable should have been a bit cheaper. The only reason why I replaced the basin instead of the whole sink is the other bathroom in the room has the same combo and it looks good matching.

Beautiful pedestal sink and easy to install. Exactly the size and shape I was looking for, for the space.

The sink was easy to install. I replaced the hot and cold flex pipe hoses as well. I Bolted the sink top to the wall using lag bolts. I’ve caulked and painted the surrounding area. It all took several hours over a weekend.

Packaged perfectly for shipping, I was concerned about breakage but it arrived intact. Replaced a broken basin, fit well.

My sink cracked after my electric toothbrush fell into the basin. It made a 3-4 inch hole and now I'm stuck with replacing a very expensive sink!!! I'm surprised and disappointed with all the bad reviews and complaints that Kohler hasn't tried to fix this problem.

Funny, my grandmother bought her house in 1932, when she passed in 1989 her house was sold..., and to this day the same ceramic sink that was in the bathroom when she bought it ,is still there today. Me, I built a second bathroom in my house 4 years ago and I installed this Kohler. One week ago my girl friend pours a pot of boiling water down the sink and it cracks the sink. Kohler used to mean quality, but if hot water is going to crack porcelain, it means it is poor quality. To ad insult to injury I originally paid under $200 for the for the sink and pedestal. Now, the sink by itself is almost twice the price. My recommendation, don't buy this sink.

Our pedestal sink lasted about 15 yes but I still find it hard to believe the whole sink could crack by simply dropping a small bottle from the medicine cabinet into the sink. Its expensive to replace! We have two sinks side by side so I hate to change them. At least you can buy just the basin.

Last one cracked, ordered replacement top to match existing sink base & toilet, was very expensive.

None of the following is in any way Home Depot's fault: The porcelain is not strong, and if you drop a heavy object into the sink, it will break. This basin was a replacement for one into which I dropped a ceramic soap dispenser. Also, Kohler changed the position of the support bracket mounting holes! They are an inch wider apart than the previous, identical basin. Why would a manufacturer do that? Luckily, my plumber was able to install without tearing a hole in the wall.

Sorry to say, but I thought Kohler was quality. This sink was in my bath and yes it was several years old. One day I came home and the soap dispenser had fallen in the sink and knocked a hole in it. The soap dispenser is plastic. Kohler would not even offer a discount replacement. If it is over 1 year old you have to buy a new one. At $381 just for the replacement sink. Reading the other reviews, I am not alone. So I will replace the entire sink, I have no choice because my guess is that this will crack again.

We originally purchased the entire set of portrait series when we remodeled our bathroom. When the sink developed a crack after something was dropped on it, I wanted to replace it, but Home Depot no longer stocked it in their stores. I was able to order it online, but the price was a lot higher than what I paid for the original bowl. I'm happy with the product and Home Depot, but I think the price was too high.

No complaints about speed of shipping. Box arrived undamaged. We've owned a Kohler Portrait pedestal sink for 17 years, have just re-done the bathroom, and want to keep the sink because it's so pretty; but the basin isn't looking so great after years of well water, so we were delighted that the sink is still being sold and that we could just replace the basin. I opened the box and discovered the basin has a big hole in it! Then I noticed a heavy steel bracket that was loose in the box with the basin and obviously was being tossed around in the box during normal handling and broke the basin. This was neither Home Depot's nor the shipper's fault. The pedestal with the loose, heavy piece was in a Kohler box, which I can only presume was packed by the Kohler Co. I am at a loss as to why they would pack it that way. That would mean that all of these sinks would arrive broken! I will return it to store and find out if it's even worth my time to order again. Don't know if this was an isolated incident, like maybe the Kohler packer was smoking dope on the job!!!

This sink was in a powder room and gets very limited use. It soon developed cracks in the bowl just a few months after installation. These cracks grew and grew untill finally a portion of the sink bowl actually fell out completely. Unfortunatly the rest of the bath is in the "portrait' series, so it looks like I will replace the bowl and hope for the best.

my bathroom sink was beautiful however the quality was poor. my sink cracked very easily. i have large crack even though i don't remember dropping anything in the basin. i have to purchase another sink. i would not buy this sink

This product has poor quality control. I have sent 3back at this point. I like the appearance of the sink expeciallin in a small bathroom. Two of them were because of defects. Both original from manufacturing and poor packaging. They have cracks in the porcelain and the metal bracket is packed loose in the box and can chip the sink. I have been trying to install this for almost a month since I got the first sink. But It is slow delivery and bad quality. The first one was because I ordered the wrong one.
