We were having problems with our furnace shutting down and not starting back up for about a week. We called to get it looked at and no issues were discovered with the furnace itself . I wasn't sure what to do at first after that. I went out to the breaker and flipped the breaker to turn the furnace back on after it shut off by itself again. The breaker wasn't tripping, but thought maybe that was the issue. I have never messed with a breaker replacement so I went online and watched a few videos on breaker replacement. It was actually very easy. Just had to take the faceplate off the breaker box and the old breaker popped out easily. I replaced it with an identical 50 Amp breaker and replaced the faceplate. After flipping the breaker back on I haven't had an issue with my furnace since.

This Square D circuit breaker fits the Older style service panels, and will not fully engage contacts on the Newer Service Panel, this could lead to a fire. Had to return,(did not fit my later panel, panel installed after 1989) Newer style Breaker is shown on the right. Home Depot should add more pictures to avoid this problem.

Added protection and versatile
The added protection of GFCI in a circuit breaker brings peace of mind and easy code compliance. This breaker as multiple wiring options to fit different power feeds and devices. The panel neutral coil is long enough to reach the bar and still be dressed in neatly. A test button makes it easy to check the installation. The handle has clear ON, Trip and OFF positions like most breakers now. It fits in any Square D Homeline panel.

Works as advertised
I installed this breaker to protect outlets near a large sink in an out building. It does protrude somewhat higher than the other HOM breakers in my load center but it does not hit the door. You must attach the coiled neutral white wire to the neutral bus in the load center. Otherwise there is no protection and the self test button will not work. You should test the breaker at least once a month for proper operation but I would not test more often since all breaker like this have a finite number of trip cycles before failure. I personally worked for the division in Square D that manufactured the GFCI modules for these. The label on the breaker is now in poor condition because I was not careful in putting the cover back on the box. Mia culpa.

Added safety
This is multifunctional double pole GFCI breaker. It can be used on 3-wire 120/240V, two wire 240V or multi-wire circuits. Format is TIPO HOM so it fits on any GE/Siemens panel. The GFCI protection is lightning fast at 10,000 AIR/A nom I, which I measured at 0.05 seconds. It is not 2x single pole, it is balancing load interrupter which adds a layer of protection on double pole circuits that you can only have with the double pole breaker such as this one. At 2x25A this won't be the one for HVAC applications, but perfect for hot tub, or a dryer. In terms of pricing, it is a little expensive, but then you can't really put a price on a life that can be endangered. Those breakers are must have according to code in almost all states and offer excellent quality and protection. It comes in a clam-type packaging, well insulated and totally safe for online ordering. Nothing other than #1 electrical square screwdriver is needed for the installation and the bus clamps are pre-treated with a dab of dielectric grease for better contact and to prevent oxidation of the clamp surfaces.

needed
This 2-pole circuit breaker comes with a ground fault circuit interrupter. It is 120/240 volts at 60 Hz. 10,000 AIR/A nom.I. It has a test button. It is only for use in square D home line load centers rated 70 A and higher. Each breaker side is 25 amps. It is UL listed and comes with instructions. It is type TIPO HOM. Easy to reset . I think this circuit breaker will come in handy when I need an extra circuit breaker. Maybe for a hot water heater.

Square D quality
Our entire house only uses Square D Homeline boxes and breakers. Main panel, and two subpanels. We have all 120V circuits on Homeline AFCI, GFCI, or AFCI/GFCI breakers, but not many 240V breakers have GFCI, so this was a nice addition. We used this 25A breaker for our outside HVAC units. Nice to have GFCI protection on that circuit. We have not any HVAC issues with false tripping. I have found that Homeline GFCI breakers are, correctly, more sensitive than the average wall GFCI, which we really like for safety. None of our Homeline AFCI or GFCI breakers have ever had false trip issues; all issues have always turned out to be legitimate wiring or safety issues. We recommend Square D products.

Solid Safty
The one thing that caught my eye on this was it can be used on a 220 circuit. Basically if you have anything remotely involving water or outdoors you need one of these on the circuit, or an outlet that has ground fault. Larger things like hot tub or sauna this would be perfect because of the 220. It also works with the 110 range and being two pole it can carry more so to speak. Make things not only safer but easier to protect life and limb from a ground fault.

Breaker, Breaker
The required 25 amp breaker wire size is 10 AWG if you're using copper wires. However, some 12-gauge electrical cables are rated for 25 amp or higher. Read the printed specification on the cable insulation to ensure its capacity. If you want to completely protect your self, your equipment and your building then GFCI is the way to go. When considering price, which is better: replacing equipment and structures or installing decent breakers? This line of Square D is designed for residential rather than commercial use, though. Personally, I have been using Square D for over twenty years and never had a failure. This particular breaker was used for a minisplit airconditioner system. It has other uses such as water features and hot tubs.

Lifetime Warranty
I have been using Schneider Electric products for years. I have numerous APC (a Schneider Electric Brand) Surge Protectors and Battery Back-UPS. Never been disappointed in any of them. Homeline is their residential value brand. Less expensive, but still outstanding quality. I have never installed a GFCI Breaker before. I have always installed GFCI Outlets (Indoor and Outdoor). Installation was as simple as a normal Breaker, except the additional step of having to connect the 10AWG white pigtail to the Neutral Bar. Assembled in Mexico.

Just as an FYI before you buy or replace any breakers in your new or existing panel; it's never a...
Just as an FYI before you buy or replace any breakers in your new or existing panel; it's never a good idea to install a breaker that doesn't match the specs for your panel. In other words only use Square D breakers in a Square D panel and match the type of breaker to what the panel calls for. The same goes for any breaker and panel combo. If you have any doubt contact a qualified electrician. Some breakers will interchange and fit in other panels but they are not approved and may cause real issues down the road. This is especially true when a home is undergoing a home inspection prior to sale. Most inspectors will call out incompatible breakers in a panel and call for there replacement. I have always liked the design of Square D products and they are available at the most locations across the country at very reasonable cost. The breakers are very easy to install and are easy to troubleshoot. When there is a fault these breakers give a very positive loud click when a fault happens and flip into the off position side of the beaker. Since these are so inexpensive, I keep a few different amperage breakers on hand if they ever need replacement at odd hours. Installing these into a panel is quick and easy. Always turn off the main breaker on the panel and test that the power is truly off on each of the breakers before you start (you never know what someone has done before). These breakers slip under plastic lugs in the panel then snaps into the load buss bar(s). Since mine is a twin 15 amp breaker it picks up power from both buss bars to provide 220 volt power. The breaker has nice large terminal screws and wire hold downs. The terminal screw is torqued down to 36 In pounds, per manufacture specs (15 thru 30 amp breakers) with either a large straight screwdriver 3/8" wide blade or a #2 square bit. If you have any reservations about doing this type of work, please contact a qualified electrician to preform the work.
