I purchased this wireless unit when I could not troubleshoot the wired electronic door chime connected to our ancient Nutone intercom system (will replace eventually when we renovate our mid-century home). This chime is powered by three D-cell batteries, and the wireless pushbutton by a small clock battery. The chime is a pleasant recorded eight-note Westminster chime, or two-note "ding dong". The chime is sufficiently loud without sounding awfully phony. The wood cover and resonator tubes look fine in our eclectic entryway (who stares at a doorbell anyway?) It is easy to install, and works great.

Outdoor button early failure
The indoor bell unit operated fine but the outdoor wireless button failed almost immediately even inside a 2.5 foot recessed door way which is a weather free area.

Nice unit
Nice unit for the price. Wood well finished. Tubes were a little light but had a good appearance. Sounded good, but a little tinny and needed full volume to have a nice, strong sound. Worked fine as a replacement for the original doorbell I had.

Looks good
I bought this on January 20, 2013 and I am really unhappy with it. I checked it to make sure it worked after installation and it worked until I put the button outside. Then it didn't work. Would not by a wireless door bell again.

Received cracked
When this door chime arrived there was a huge crack all the way across one side. It did not happen during shipping and must have been there when it was originally boxed. Apparently there is no quality control. Other than that the chime did look good and it did have an OK sound. The local store did accept the return without a problem.
