Easy to install in just 10 minutes. Has several AC wiring adapters included for popular models to interconnect several alarms. Has ‘Hush’ button to turn off false alarms.

This was to go in a high, hard to access location. I use 10-year, 9v Lithium batteries for the back-up battery because of the difficulty of access. Nowhere on the outside packaging did I see the incompatibility with Lithium batteries disclosed. That key datum was revealed only after purchasing the unit and opening the package. VERY ANNOYING! This review refers to Kidde model i12060A.

I like the smoke detector. The ten year batteries don't last more than a single year. Second, who tests a smoke alarm and resets it once a month?? That's the directions. Third, if you have any dust (country living) or the little night bugs like gnats and mosquitoes....they are attracted to the power light and set it off as they get inside the unit. You'll need to use compressed air to blow them out. The alarm I bought that caused this rating is a replacement for the one I kept blowing out, and yet it continues to chirp....after a week or so, and in the middle of the night....

Very easy to install with included adapters for replacing older smoke detectors. External battery compartment is very convenient to access. Installed 3 in no time.

Easy fix for replace old Firex alarms with rewiring. Reasonable price. Look much nicer than the old yellowed Firex on our white ceiling.

I love the battery door right on the front of the unit. Easy to install new battery. This unit comes with adapters for replacing other brands of hardwired detectors. I had a First Alert unit that needed to be replaced, but it was so old that the adapters would not work. I had to wire in the new plug which was a bit disappointing since I paid extra for the unit with the adapters. The wall plate was not large enough to cover the old detectors footprint. This left a small area that needed some touch up paint to cover.

Easy to install. I was able to replace all smoke detectors in my house. Nice bright white looks good on ceiling. No more struggling to change batteries.

I was disappointed that the adapters that were advertised were replaced with cheaper wire converters. I could barely fit it in the space available in the electrical box behind the smoke detector whereas the advertised adapters would have used a lot less room. I need to still replace 3 more and this time I have ordered the smoke detectors (Kidde i12060 - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Kidde-Hardwire-Smoke-Detector-with-Battery-Backup-Ionization-Sensor-and-2-Button-Test-Hush-21026054/303265877) separate from the adapters (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Kidde-Smoke-Alarm-Adapters-2-Pack-900-0153-012/202563783) and it is about the same cost. To be fair, it did the job, but it was more difficult than it needed to be.

I ordered five of these from Home Depot and picked them up from the store. When I got home, I noticed that out of the five, only two had the adapters pictured on the site here. Three of them had longer wired adapters that I am guessing were replaced with the round disc shaped ones. All three of the longer wired adapters installed very easily. However, the "No More Hassle: Front Loading Battery Door" on them is quite ironic as it was an extreme hassle getting the sticker off the alarm. They were the types of stickers that just tear and fall apart as soon as you pull on them. It took me at least ten minutes each of cleaning to finally get all the sticker residue off. Installing the two alarms with the disc shaped adapters wasn't so easy. The connections are way too tight and you pretty much have to force them together. So much that I broke the locking pin on one of them and I had to take it back and return it (luckily they still had some with the longer wired adapters). The "good" news with these though is that the stickers on them came off very easily. I'm curious as to why Kidde decided to change out the adapters on these. The longer wired ones were a hundred times easier to install than the round disc shaped ones.

Replaced 6 First Alert 20 yr old smoke detectors. Easy install. Adapters included and fit the old hardwire connection. No electrician needed! Sticky paper attached to outside the battery compartment was the hardest part. Does not come off easily. Moving forward, I will replace them every 10 years!

Extremely easy to install. Hopefully I never have to find out how good it works. :-) Purchased & installed (6) of these smoke detectors over the past several months.

Who knew that these had to be replaced within 10 years? Already had them throughout but they started to chirp and fail within a short time. Since the wiring was in place, installation was a snap, took less than 1 minute.

EASY TO INSTALL and works just as well as all the high priced detectors. Love the fact that they give you all the different connections in the package. Works GREAT!

I need new one's the old ones was 20 years old you need to replace them in 10 year

I was worried that replacing my old smoke detectors would be a real chore. These units (replaced 9) turned out to be nearly exact replacements. The hard part (if you can call it that) was removing the old ceiling ring and swapping in the mounting ring that comes with the new unit. Just two screws needed to be backed out, old ring removed, and new plastic ring installed. Three pin AC plug snapped in fine and no wiring needed to be disturbed. Each unit took about 2 minutes to swap out. New detectors come with a fresh battery and the battery door is on the exposed face of the unit. When batteries need replacing, it will be a 30 second job, 20 seconds of that will be getting the ladder in place. I didn't need any of the adapters that are supplied in case you are switching from models other than Kidde. Inter-Connectable feature works fine... when one unit sounds alarm, all the others do also.

This was a replacement Smoke alarm. Just removed the old one & the adapter cover. Used new adapter cover & installed alarm easily. The battery housing pops up & easy to get to & install battery. Probably 5 minutes total to replace.

Great smoke detector for hard wired systems. Comes with three different adapter plugs that allows this product to replace many hard wired smoke detectors. Easy to install and test. Also has place to write in the installation date.

I was very impressed, lower prices, very easy installation and the extra quick adaptors makes it even easier! I did install 6 of them and the previous home owner had removed all of the older detectors due to two detectors had wires pulled out from the wiring cap, Once I found the problem the rest were fun and all tested as intended, now my new house is all secure, life and safety is priority and with the convenience of Home Depot and all their locations, it is just like a perfect dream, Love it!

This is an ideal, DIY value replacement for older hard wired fire alarms. We used it to replace our original fire alarms that were installed when our home was built about 20 years ago. With the included adapters it was a quick and easy DIY job that came out great. (see photos) These new Kid alarms include the back up 9 volt battery and make it quick and easy to change the battery when necessary. (see photos)

I bought these as replacement units for my 20 year old fixer upper. They worked fine and included the required wiring connectors to the old connectors (No actual wiring required.) Easy mounting on separate adapter. I would buy again and I recommend them to anyone.

I have had these smoke detectors for a couple of weeks now. I had to use one of the adapters to hook it up to the exiting wire system. I like that the batter is easily accessible and doesn't involve a lot of effort like my old detectors did.
