• The filter fits perfect and is easy to install. I could use some “flats” on the sides to allow it to be griped easier. Installation involves a quarter-turn and the label on the filter has arrows for the starting and stopping points. My frig keeps track of when the filter needs to be replaced, but this model comes with a date label that can be installed to indicate the month installed and the month it should be replaced. The label info states that it should be replaced every six months.
• The filter comes packaged with a protective cap over the two O-rings at the top so be sure to remove the cap before attempting to install.
• The filter is NSF tested and certified. And it is IAPMO certified under applicable sections related to the reduction of lead, cyst, VOC;s and several other contaminants.
• The filter is made in the USA.

Installed filter in place of a UKF7003 OEM filter.
Took a while for the air to purge out of the filter and only then did a fair amount of carbon-blackened water come out.
Kept purging and then noticed the filter was actually leaking. Disconnected it from the fridge and it spewed water out - it looks like there was a big build up of pressure causing water to drip/leak. Tried to reinstall, same issue. I'm guessing there is something "stuck" in the filter.
I put the old filter back in, no leaks.
I'm debating if I should try the second filter in the two-pack I purchased or not.

Half the price of the OEM
It may be half the price of the OEM but the OEM is made by PUR and reduces cysts, asbestos, particulates, lead, mercury this filter does not state that it does this but if all you want is a filter that filters down to 0.5 micron than this is all you need you will save money and improve the taste and the quality of your water better than straight from the tap. So if you like to change your filter every three months this is definitely the filter for you.

Thank you for taking the time to review. We are tested and certified to NSF Standard 42 which concerns Chlorine, taste, and odor. Standard 53 deals with specific contaminants that are removed from the water. The filtration technology used inside the filter is the same technology as has been used in most refrigerator filters made and sold over the last ten plus years. We have over 50 years combined experience in manufacturing drinking water filters here in the USA. Because we are not the manufacturer of the refrigerator we are not able to make specific health claims for the product. Therefore, at this time, we cannot make specific claims related to the contaminants that are removed. We are however, currently in the process of getting certified for other NSF 53 certification- it is a long and extensive process. Once we receive the certifications, we will be able to make those claims. We do recommend replacing the filter every 6 months or 300 gallons depending on your water quality and usage.
At the time of purchase it looked to be a great deal, getting two filters for just a little more than the price of the OEM filter. However, neither filter in the package fit very well and each one leaked water all over my refrigerator. They both spit water on me during removal for return as if there was a pressure buildup for some reason. When I returned these to the store, I got an original filter and it went on with no problem (as usual) and hasn't leaked for days. Stick with the original filters, despite the price.

There are a few troubleshooting ideas you could try to possibly stop the leaking and to release the built up air pressure.The first thing to do would be to make sure the filters have the black o-ring on the top of the filter, if the o-rings are there, the next thing to do would be to re-install it multiple times to 1. Let out any built up air, and 2. To reset the housing head unit in the refrigerator. If the filter still leaks after that, then you can submerse the filter in a sink full of water for an hour to thoroughly wet the filter. After the hour, take the filter out, dry it off, and re install. We hope you will consider purchasing the HDX Brand water filters again, as a chance for a better experience.
