Used these to build my porch. I still have a ton left over! I used these to fasten my deck board onto the joist. These came with drill bits which didn't wear out. I love the case it comes into for storage.
I would recommend that when installing boards that the center of the "tree" points down as it can flex up during season changes at the end of the boards. This can cause the screw the shear off.

I have driven a box of 75 so far, attaching 2x4 purlins to 2x8 rafters on a pergola. The include driver bit works well, no cam out so far. You do have to be sure to hold the drill straight or you might get some slippage, but the bit is still going strong. I have a box of 350 left to use and I'm pretty sure the two bits will hold out. If they do not then I have several square drive/Robertson bits that will work also.

These screws worked great. They didn't split our fence boards that are 25 years old. I've didn't even know about these screws. I've only thought you could use galvanized screws with a flat washer. It's a game changer.

I replaced my deck boards all 64 using 80%Of the 1750 screws and only had one fail. They worked perfectly and held firmly.

I'm happy with these screws. They are built well and come with a Torx drive which is a plus. I still wish I could find the Fastenmaster Trio as those were the best screws I ever bought! These aren't quite as good as those but still of high quality.

Why can't they just leave things alone?
These screws used to come with the Pozisqare head and were the best heads on the market for not stripping out. I've read many reviews on how much consumers likes the Pozisquare heads so why in the world would you go back to the Torx heads that strip out just as badly as a Phillips head always did? The only reason that I recommend the product is because the screw itself is top notch and I've always had great luck with them not corroding from the treated lumber. Just really disappointed that we seem to be going backwards with quality instead of forward.

nice secure screws - self taping, good torx bit. a tad too long for two 2x4 - I would use the 2.5 inch ones next time

Useful in pasture fencing applications
Have been using GuardDog screws in pasture fencing applications for some time instead of long galvanized nails because they are so much easier to drive without a nail gun or remove later if necessary. (Pilot holes are a good idea to prevent splitting.) Found that they are durable enough to be reused if a board has to be replaced, and they are a lot easier to remove from boards than nails.

Nice Screws For Securing Wood!
I purchased these to secure the ply board to floor studs. These screws worked well doing that job. I also used these to secure wooden slats for a porch step. The things I like about them is that these screws come with the needed Torx driver that comes with the box. I used every last screw and the driver was still fully intact. Here are some PROS and CONS.

Rated for pressure treated and chemical treated wood
Variety of uses
Sharp point for wood entry
CONS:
None
I would recommend these screws for your next wood project!

NOT Phillips square drive as advertised.
NOT Phillips square drive as advertised. These are torx drive screws and the standard torx bits do not fit. Only their bit does.

You are correct, the current Guard Dog screws do not use the old pozi square drive which is a combination between a #2 Philips and #2 square drive bit. The screw was redesigned a few years ago and it looks like the product description in the Home Depot site has not been updated. Our team will work with their team to get this corrected. In a case where you do not have the Torx T-Tap that each box comes with, a standard T-25 Torx drive will also work. Just O.K.
These screws were compared to 3 other kinds while I was doing deck work recently. Most screws had a wobble to them as they were driven into the wood as did another brand, indicating that they were not straight. Like 2 other brands, they had relatively shallow bit depths and required care not to strip as they were driven all the way into the wood. I will not be buying any more of these and would not recommend them to others. I will buy more of the Hillman Power Pro screws.
