Handy tool and useful information. But a bit pricey for what it provides. I found this General Tools 4-in-1 environmental tester a nice addition to my tool bag. Upon opening the packaging I first discovered you have to provide a 9V battery (come’on guys when you spend $100, throw in a battery). Next I found the manual a bit dated. The information is correct but the format looks like it is from the 70’s. The user interface on the device is intuitive and works well. Unfortunately I have no way to tell if the information presented is accurate. Starting with the humidity function I tried it in a steamy bathroom and it did read higher. The light meter did not match the light meter app on my phone (see photo) so I’m not sure which one is correct (or how much each are off). The temperature sensor requires that you purchase an additional Thermocouple probe to get full use of the unit. I wish it was included with the device. It also displays room temp which matched an instant read thermometer. Lastly the air velocity displays meters/second. While useful for comparison purposes, such as HVAC registers in the bedroom vs. the bathroom. It would have been nice to have a Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) direct read capability. Overall a nice tool but pricey for what you get.

This meter works great to determine wind speed and temperature before spraying fields. I used 2 different types of meters and this one was consistent every time. The other 2 were all over the board. With current laws and spraying every farm should have one of these. Very simple to operate and read the results. The hold feature locks in the numbers so you can record them. Best meter ever!

This is a very compact 4 function environmental meter. I especially like the light meter function. This meter is very easy to turn on and start taking light meter readings. It measures both Lux and Foot-Candles. As far as the thermocouple function goes, it turns out that the K sensor that I have for another meter works by plugging it into the Type K contacts on the front. The thermocouple measurements agree with the internal temperature sensor as shown on the LCD display. This meter uses a 9 Volt battery which is not included.

What a handy tool! I use it to diagnose atmosphere around the house as it has temp and relative humidity. This is great for Mom's room which we humidify and filter, and helps us know if we have too much moisture/cold in the basement tool room. What I really like is the CFM (cubic feet/minute) feature. I use it on the forced air return and registers, as well as the bathroom vents. We upgraded 2 of the 4 bath fans already after seeing how low was the airflow in those units. The only downer was that no 9 volt battery was included, but I was fine as I finally got to use my 9 volt rechargables for something.

Wonderful, multiuse device that has uses for work, home or sporting. The General Tool 4 in 1 Environmental meter (DLAF8000) provides the user with readings in wind speed, humidity, light and temperature. The unit is well laid out with easy to read buttons with a “dog bone” shape that fits well in the hand. The actual button selections for each of the functions flow logically so even someone who had an 8-track player (me) can actually use the device without assistance. We (wife) uses the Humidity function for cooking as making caramels is difficult once the humidity gets over a certain amount. I use it for similar reasons with urethane and paint. The temperature function is quick, and you can attach “K” type probe leads to see (in the winter) if all your heat is at the ceiling and not down where your sitting. The light meter will error out in direct sunlight but once you are in the shadows or inside it will read in lumens. I have found this very useful in adding lamps in room so there is equal lighting and the even lighting actually does help, I was surprised. The wind speed I use at the range, mostly for an excuse of why I missed. The device takes a 9-volt battery (not included), which is almost unheard of anymore, is made in Taiwan, is CE certified and very user friendly and only a little over 7 inches long. The device is can be switched between different units of measure with ease. There is no “back light” for the display so you cannot use in the dark unless you supply the light. Great tool, easy enough for me and the wife to use, well made, recommended.
