After growing up with the GE brand for over 20 years I'm struggling to understand why such a quality product would fail after 7 years. After filing a claim with our homeowner's warranty company ,our claim was denied because their Repair company's claim that the rear bearing failed due to overloading which was never the case. If this is a common problem then why does GE not honor their workmanship and customer's investment and repair the appliance? It costs less to replace the washer than it is to repair it.

Bottom concrete counter weight broke off - renders entire unit worthless

The bearing and seal fails and mess up the interior parts, spider, bearings and front balancer and front tub, they only give a one year warranty and seals fails after a year, they do not want to give you Any discount on the parts and do not warranty the washer machine.

Replaced once for cracked drum in the first two years, no cost to us at all. Four years later this machine is gone too. It was noisy and spins were shaking so violently we were forced to pay appliance company to come out only to hear the bearings are gone! So disappointed - GE I purchased these products because they were made in the USA-

We bought all GE appliances for our new home we built in 2013. This washing machine has been repaired already once with replacing the top tub piece because one of the concrete balancers completely broke off and was down in the machine. Now it has happened again. Not to mention before this happened the machine would stop and not run the rinse and spin cycle. This was top of the line with features and very expensive. Now we have to go out and buy a new one because we are not throwing money back into this one. Very disappointed in this washing machine.

Would not recommend these to anyone. They are very nice looking but looks can be deceiving. Worked good for a short time. Front loaders may save you water but won’t save you money in repairs or maintenance.

My washer is 4 years old. It was never quite in great balance. Every time I have done a wash it got worse and worse. Today when cleaning 5 pool towels (it was not even close to being full) I heard a loud noise and my whole house shook. I ran to the laundry room and found this (see pics). A super heavy boulder on the floor with huge bolts in it, that blew the door open, and the insides came crashing inside itself...I don't even know if I am explaining it accurately so I had to take pictures. Thank god no one was in the laundry room and I had just left the room to put away clothes I had just folded. There is no way I would have left that room without a broken leg from that boulder.

This is our second front loader from GE. It has all the options. Unfortunately, even with following best practices, mold has grown on the seal and there’s an accumulation of orange residue on the outside of the drum that cannot be cleaned.

We bought our washing machine in June 2014. My wife has always complained about the moldy smell. We tried to always leave the door open when not in use. It didn’t help. And what ever you do, don’t forget and leave a load of cloths in there for a day. But, that’s not why I’m writing my first review, I’ve ever written. It’s February 2018, and it just locked up. It’s humming like it’s trying to spin. I knew something had to be jamming the tub. I took the machine apart to unjam the tub. I finally was able to get the tub loose. I don’t know what was jamming the tub, but before I could go further to remove what ever it was, I noticed my outer tub was cracked. This is the outer part of the tub that doesn’t spin. As I looked closer, I noticed the tub had multiple cracks, that went all the way through. It even had a split in the tub. I’m lucky the machine got jammed. Otherwise, it was only a very short matter of time before the tub completely came apart and completely flooded our house. I thought buying a GE, meant I was buying a better quality product.

The name "right height" is the right name. Perfect for folding clothes on and taking clothes out. Very modern looking, with easy to read display panel.

Purchased this model (scratch and dent) from an appliances repair family. It is perfect. Settings are nearly infinite, with from sub 30 minute wash times - through soak/extended washes. It uses very little water and performs perfectly.

I was excited to get a nice modern front loading washer and dryer. Right off the bat the GE guy couldn't/wouldn't level the machine. It's been noisy ever since and I've lost that lovn feeling .

The washer works well and has a good size basket. Looks like I'm going to be able to do all the clothes in one load.

I bought this washer in 2016. Last week , it was washing some clothes and suddenly stopped working. The lights on panel were off, it was impossible to start the machine again and he front door was stucked with clothes inside. Technician said it was the electric board which is inside , that could be replaced but with no garantee the door would open or close again.....I won't buy a GE washer.

Having used this washer for a year now, I love it! It smells, like all the things I've read, but I leave it open til dry.

We had this washer for under 5 years at first a great appliance and cleaned very well and it gradually started getting extremely load called my service guy and said the drum bearing went out at it was very expensive to replace. Disappointed in the longevity that it lasted :(

First the positives: Efficient use of water; you can add an item at any point during the wash; at the end of the cycle, it spins at 10,000 RPM for 15 minutes so the clothes are nearly dry already making the dryer cycle very short; The right-height feature makes buying a pedestal unnecessary; The panel features and cycle availability is plentiful. Negatives: Because this spins so fast and so long, the reviews are correct - the bearings will fail - Mine failed after 4 years of minimal use!; The regular wash cycle is more than an hour; The speed-wash cycle is 34 minutes and doesn't clean the clothes; After buying these just under 5 years ago, GE isn't making parts for this so you can't get the bearings to fix this. If you already own this unit, I'm sorry. If you're looking to buy this used or new, RUN.

The shaking got really bad over the last year until we could not stand it any more. I'm told load washers have this problems. It was great until this happen.

Piece of Crap that had to be replaced after only 5 years!! Didn't spin properly and leaked out the bottom of the machine. Will never buy GE again!!

Bearings went after 5 years, Parts unavailable. Purchased brand new and purchased the 4 year extended warranty beyond the 1 year manufacturer warranty. Started making loud noise during the spin cycles and the electronic panel started acting wonky and the washer would not end a cycle it would go into pause mode. The washer is 4 years old. Reached out to warranty and they said parts are not available

I love the versatility of this washer. You can choose water temp, spin cycles and decide how long you want the items washed for. Unfortunately, we had TERRIBLE LUCK with this machine. It is now over 6 years old and had several large "gut" parts replaced to no prevail. The motor, board, and control board have all been replaced and it still spins off balance, out of control and ends up adding time to the cycle making cycles several hours long!

I have had this washer less than 2 years. The repair man has already been out twice and this will be the third time. It has not worked right since the day I purchased it. I suspect the bearings are shot after reading so many of these similar reviews, but we’ll see. Feeling like GE should recall this washer out of good faith since so many people are having the same issue. A washer should last more than 2 years for the amount of money spent on it. Mine gets light use with only myself and a baby. It has been maintained with the filter being checked ever month and basket cleaned. I will not be buying anymore GE appliances after this. This has been the worst experience ever!

We bought this washer dryer set because made in Louisville ky 20 miles from home,what a bad 2800 dollar mistake.Within first year bearing in rear tub bad very noisy,now pump runs continually, was told by service company needs new computer board,$456.00! Will by new anything, but GE! PS service company couldn't guarantee computer board would fix problem!

It’s cheaper to buy a new one than repair it. Motor and some other parts.

Liked the machine, just thought two people household would have a washer lasting longer than 6 years when its bearing failed

Tub bearing failed after 4 years which in turn took out the front balance ring. Replaced bearings and ring and within two weeks balance ring failed again coating the inside of the washer with oil. The cost of replacement parts far exceeds the value of the machine. The quality of this product is the poorest I have ever seen and it will be the last GE I ever own.

Unfortunately, my previous review was moderated for an unknown reason. Hopefully, this review gets posted. I, like a few others, had this model go out on me shortly after the 5 year mark. The technician came out and basically told me I should buy a new washer. The cost to repair was as much as I paid for the unit brand new. What a shame.

With a family of 5, laundry is an inevitability. We are very disappointed that the bearing on this washer has failed after 4 years and costs more to repair that a new machine.
