Rusting parts not my favorite brand any mor
First I wanna say from the moment we got the dishwasher brand new we had to call service right away because it makes this knocking noise they were never able to repair that the dishwasher has always knock knock knock knock with every twist of the arm within a year the dishwasher racks started rusting the brackets are already falling off. GE used to be a very dependable product I would never imagined that I would find myself as disappointed In GE as I am now. Installed 6/30/15 racks are rusting apart

Hello RachelleKiDes - Thanks for the review! We are sorry to hear of your disappointment. We want to offer quality products to all of our consumers. We will work to improve the product. Rhythmic Knocking or Thumping: Most likely caused by the spray arm hitting something inside the dishwasher as the spray arm rotates. To solve the problem, rearrange dishware inside the dishwasher to provide clearance for the spray arms. The spray arms must be free to rotate for good wash performance. Contact us anytime!
    Worst Product Ever!!!
This was the worst purchase we have ever made!! I didn't even want to choose one star but in order to leave a feedback I had to. Purchase dishwasher middle of February 2014. Right from the start dishes were not being cleaned. Water would refill in the bottom of dishwasher for no reason in between washing For 3 weeks we tried different soaps and additives. Tried all the suggestions from the owners manual. Finally we called GE. Had to wait a week for appt. Repair man said maybe the computer in the control panel. It would be another few weeks until that part would come in. Had another appt for repair man to replace the part. When he got here he said it may be a number of different things that could be wrong. So instead of replacing part by part GE had a glass door that they had ordered so when cycle was washing it could be watched to see what the problem was. Mmmmmm. Got a call and was told we will be their the next day because door had arrived. Repair man got here and asked what he was here for??? The door had never come in. So here it is almost the middle of June got a phone call this past Monday to schedule appt glass door was in. Made appt for next day waited waited waited.... husband called around 3:00..... We we told the glass door had not come in and we should have never been called to schedule appt. Waited very patiently these past few months. But after yesterday called Home Depot and took dishwasher back. I must say however, Home Depot was wonderful!!!!! I have attached some pictures of what the dished would look like after cleaned. Spatula in picture has peanut butter on it going into dishwasher and still had the peanut butter on it coming out . The dish had gone through 3 wash cycles and this is as good as it got. The glass shows food that gets redeposited on all the dishes. I have had to throw away about 1/2 of my silverware because the food that gets redeposited onto everything had gotten into the small crevices that I could not get them clean. Ultimately it is your decision to buy or not buy this product. If you do, I hope you get better service then we did. Because with this dishwasher you will be having to call them to repair it from the get go. Your dishes come out dirtier then they were going in!!!

      Money well spent
Great machine for the money, very easy to install because installation instructions were very clear. It is a big machine and will fill the whole space for it so make sure there is enough room for it. We are still in the process of remodeling the complete kitchen and this a great upgrade from our old machine. It is very easy to use and does exactly what it is supposed to do...clean dishes and big pots and pans. I like the way the lower rack comes all the way out because I have some big pots and huge cutting boards that are easy to put in and take out without having to angle them in or out. The steam function is awesome and the sanitize feature is incredible. For a big machine it is very quiet, you knew when our old machine was running not this one, and it plays a little jingle when the cycle is done. Would recommend this unit to anyone, great value.

      Really performs!
This dishwasher is fantastic for the price! It truly takes away any food residue on the dishes. We put this to the test every time since we always have bowls with stuck-on oatmeal and it's always gone! Because of this, we use the Heavy cycle with the steam and heat dry options. Our small plastic lids stay on the fold-down racks located on the upper sides. Yes, the inner door is still wet when the cycle is complete but the dishes aren't, which is what we care about. One word of advice when you get your dishwasher (or anything else!), check and double-check your item to make sure it looks okay and the door functions without any problems. Ours had a defective (warped) tub and the door was rubbing the upper left corner when you try to close it. No problem, we called GE within 48 hours of receiving it and a repairman came out and inspected..................since it was not cost effective to replace the tub, they recommended a replacement. Called HD and a replacement was scheduled to arrive in a week. Ten stars for HD!! Our only worry is the door latch..........it's made of hard plastic. Why plastic on a mechanism that's heavily used????? Overall, the dishwasher performs great! Soooooo quiet!

        Junk
If I could give this a 0 star I would. We bought this and from the get go we have had problems. We have spent hundreds of dollars trying to fix the heating problem, the terrible filter problems, the inability for this thing to CLEAN any dishes to no avail. Had I known we were going to spend this kind of money, we would NEVER have purchased this to begin with! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ONE!

We love our dishwasher! Have had it since June and no issues. We gave up one of our large cupboard spaces to install it and couldn't be happier.

The absolute worst dishwasher I have ever owned!
I purchased this dishwasher a few months ago and knew immediately that it was the absolutely worst appliance I have ever purchased. Although I rinse all dishes, they are not clean after washing. The silverware trays hang on the front of the racks so that when you load the dishwasher, you either cut yourself or get dirty. The space that these silverware trays take up takes away from the length of the racks for the dishes. You cannot get anything large into the machine as a consequence and it is completely untrue that you can get 12 place settings in there. The machine takes forever, which I do not mind, it is very quiet, which I really like, but pots and pans are never clean, even after multiple cycles. If I could I would give this dishwasher a minus 10 rating. I'll never buy another GE appliance in my life and I have owned quite a few! The store where I purchased this dishwasher did not have the model on the floor so that it was a rude awakening after it was installed.

                            Not what I expected
Doesn't have all the options I wanted. But you made it sound like it did you made it look like it had a stainless steel interior which it doesn't it's painted grey

                              Some Buyer's Remorse
This dishwasher was bought to replace a 20 year-old Maytag, based on reviews and ratings. Pluses: (1) Does a very good job washing dishes (2) is extremely quiet Minuses: (1) The interior layout and lack of movable tines makes it difficult to place cooking items (bowls, casseroles, etc.) in the washer. It was obviously designed for just plates and saucers. (2) the "normal" wash cycle is very long (about 3 hours) (3) it can be difficult to remove items from the utensil baskets if they fall down into the basket section (4) it holds less than its predecessor despite having the same dimensions and (5) the flip-down shelves are too short and don't hold much. They also don't do a good job of supporting stemmed items like wine glasses.

                                    Quiet!!
I bought his appliance approx. 4 months ago and have been satisfied with it overall but have had 3-4 instances where the soap ray had not opened during the wash cycle and had to was everything over again by hand as the dishes and silverware had suffered baked on food and stains. Is there a problem with the soap trays not opening on this model????

Wish I had researched this purchase more
I made a rush decision in purchasing this dishwasher because mine was broken. I wish I spent more time looking. This dishwasher does an ok job of washing dishes but it takes so long. Up to 2 1/2 hours with the dry cycle. The silverware rack on the bottom rack blocks the dishwasher tabs from coming out if you position it by the door. We moved it to the side and had better results. There is no rinse cycle which I miss. It does not wash as well as my 13 year old ken more did. The spacing of the tines to hold the dishes is not good for bowls. My glasses tip over easily on the top rack due to these little bumps on the upper rack.

Great Dishwasher, but with a few engineering flaws
My parents have been living with this dishwasher I picked for them, about 2 weeks now. Honestly, it's too bad to see it's discontinued, because it's a great feature package. Nice machine with premium features like dual silverware baskets, and a stainless steel door liner, with plastic tub. First impressions, the design is well thought out with a simple, clean look, and tactile buttons that give feedback when pressed. They're durable plastic. None of that junky membrane stuff that other brands have. Membrane buttons wear and crack after only a few years of use. the racks are nicely laid out, and the spread wide tines in the lower back, though not perfect for 100% of the dishes out there, are nice for larger stoneware, which seems to be the fad these days. One caveat is that the silverware baskets are 'outside' the racks, and not inside. So if you move or remove one/both of them, you don't gain any rack space. It's empty space. INSTALLATION: As an engineer, this was time consuming even for me. There was some assembly required with the cabinet brackets. The machine is so low to the ground, make sure you hook everything up before you push it back. The machine seemed very well built EXCEPT for the rear leveling legs. It seems like the screw holes for those were drilled and tapped at sloppy, incorrect angles. It is important to make sure the machine is absolutely level, or maybe even -1 degree back, so that soap tabs properly eject from the soap cup. This machine is very quiet. And it washes the top and bottom separately. It's barely noticeable unless you're in the kitchen. Something odd; the drain pump pulses when it drains. This seems to be normal, so don't be alarmed. Due to the fact that is uses such little water, it runs the spray arms separately, like I said. But the spray still seems powerful. With that said, it is necessary to use the silverware cell covers so items don't touch. If plates and silverware touch, they might not get clean. If everything is loaded properly and in their tines/cells, everything does come out very clean. The cycles are longer than your old 10-15 year old dishwasher. It uses half the water, so it takes double the time. It's not just GE, but all modern brands now. So schedule around the long cycles; like before bed time. One glaring issue with this whole series of GE dishwashers is the soap cup dispenser. It is awkwardly placed very close to the silverware baskets. So it IS possible if tall forks, knives or utensils are placed near it, it might not open, releasing the soap. Even then, there doesn't seem to be any water spray directed at the soap cup, so the soap is not flushed out all the time. It's even worse if you use powder. In summary, my parents are liking the machine, and we'll see how reliable it stays over time. I would recommend this model. And the issues it has, don't seem to be too critical, as all modern dishwashers are different and less powerful than their predecessors used to be.

                                              Get To Know This Dishwasher
I like the features of this dishwasher, especially the upper silverware container. It allows you to put in spoons and forks without opening the door wide open. It is much quieter than my old dishwasher and the dishes come out clean! Something you should know..., if you are like me and don't like to use a heated dry cycle, you need to open the door after the machine concludes the cycle and leave it open for 3-5 minutes. You will find the dishes will be nice and dry. Don't do this and they will be wet. So be patient and you'll save time and electricity!!!

                                                Works fine
After reading most of the reviews on this site as well as on the GE appliance site I bought this for replacement of another dishwasher that was close to 15 years old. Although everyone has an unique application I find this appliance to be rather nice it definitely is an improvement over what I previously had. Some of the comments about the machine not cleaning the dishes and leaving soap residue behind, I have found not to be the case with mine. I think that one must search and use the different settings that the machine offers to find the best case scenario for their particular application . The machine is extremely quiet and I find it to do a very admirable job cleaning my pots and pans dishes glasses and yes wineglasses as well. Read the comments and the instructions would be my advice and ensure that one uses a really good rinse agent to help remove the film that some people claim that the machine leaves on their dishes

In general a very nice product.
Purchased this about a year ago and use every day or so. Only comment is that there has to be a clear path for the water to spray between the lower spinning sprayer and the soap dish on the inside of the door, otherwise the soap will not be used after the soap flipper door opens. This means the lower silverware holder has to be on the side (not the front), and there needs to be a gap in front of the soap dish on the lower dish tray.
