Issues from beginning continue to escalate
Shortly after receiving, the rubber seal around the freezer kept coming loose, preventing the freezer door from closing. Had service come out & was told it's normal and I have to just keep fixing it every time it happens. HUGE INCONVENIENCE. Then noticed a sheet of ice accumulating on the bottom of the freezer. Was told by service that it was due to the freezer door not closing properly. Almost every time we open the freezer, we have to fix the seal. We've been determining the door is properly closed by the light turning off. Every time, it takes a few attempts to get it to close properly. Despite doing this, the sheet of ice continues to accumulate & every couple weeks we have to completely empty our freezer & remove the sheet of ice from the bottom. We've had this serviced many times, on our dime. The issue remains. There has also been a slow leak somewhere under the unit that has caused damage to my floor. It was installed by GE. Have had to the fan replaced on another service call. Now we're having an issue w it not dispensing water or ice. Message on fridge read 10 days till filter expires but when attempting to get water, a warning triangle appeared that read 'Replace Filter' & nothing comes out. Despite me replacing the filter, before it even expired, it still will not dispense water or make ice. When you try to click the link for product support, the website does nothing. It took us quite some time to be able to afford a new fridge & it's been a nightmare almost the entire time.

Hello, We're sorry to hear about the ongoing issues with your refrigerator. If there is no water coming from the dispenser on your refrigerator or if it dispenses slowly, there are a number of things that you can check. Please refer to the link below: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=34232 After you change the water filter if the red light does go off, we recommend hard reset the appliance by either unplugging it or flipping the breaker off for 2-3 minutes then turning it back on. Also, refer to the troubleshooting steps below: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17040 We hope this helps, and if you need additional assistance, please reach out. -Charlie@GEA

I like how quietly it runs and the spaciousness of the freezer and chill sections. Beautiful exterior and spacious interior. Downside: because it's oversized, it doesn't easily fit through a standard door opening (36-inch).

First off, while this is a GE model sold exclusively by Home Depot, it's just a regular GE French Door fridge but with a couple of features found on more expensive models. It might be a simple thing but my we love the Quick Space shelf that slides in so you can fit tall pitchers or bottles on the shelf below it. That solved one of our major storage problems since we have a pitcher of fruit juice and a pitcher of orange juice easily sitting side by side on the shelf. A gallon jug of milk which we used to have to squeeze beside the two pitchers in our old fridge now sits on a wide door shelf. We also got the Auto Fill water dispenser feature which overall works pretty good. We also got the fancy shmancy Showcase LED lighting which looks beautiful but the light bulbs can only be changed by a GE tech on a home visit. But that's where our extended warranty comes in so we won't have to pay out of pocket for it. Only about a week in of using it after delivery. We really like this fridge but there's a slight learning curve. Overall Auto Fill works great but its sensor can get confused by the container set under it, with our without ice. We've seen the error message a few times, and it's shown complete after filling a small cardboard drinking up about halfway, I also learned that when using the ice dispenser to have a glass directly under the dispenser otherwise ice cubes or crushed ices shoots everywhere onto the floor. But overall these features work great, and I like the light the turns on when using the dispenser. When the fridge was first delivered we were confused because only the front was stainless steel and the sides slate. I looked again at the online photos and sure enough, the sides were slate. My wife doesn't mind because, as the delivery explained it, magnets can stick to slate but not to stainless steel and she has a lot of photos and and other magnetized stuff already covering both sides. Our fridge isn't loud at all, and I rarely see an extra drop of water from the dispenser. I just hold the glass under it until the water flow shuts off. But two minor quibbles: while the touch screen on the door displays the fridge and freezer temps, I don't know if those readings are accurate. I think those are just the settings for each compartment and not what the temps actually are. We use the Turbo Cool feature just to make sure the fridge temp remains below 40 degrees. The bottom freezer is more than cold enough so we haven't used Turbo Freeze yet. The other quibble is with the Open Door Alarm. I think it's a great feature but after a grocery shopping trip where we've got the door open to load food into the fridge and freezer, the alarm becomes so annoying I shut and leave it off. Quibbles aside, this remains the best fridge we've ever owned. It's large enough to more than suit our needs. And it's quiet. From our family room next to the kitchen, the only noise we hear is ice cubes dropping into the ice basket on the door. We chose not to get the 2nd icemaker so we could take advantage of all the storage space in the freezer drawer,.

Fridge is amazing. The only bad thing is the picture online. The handles look black to me. When I got the fridge, the handles were not even close to black. Almost a darker bronze color. One handle was labeled "Black SS" so I thought that I got the wrong handles. I went to the local Home Depot store and they stated that I had the correct handles. Black slate has the different colored handles, I guess. So ended up sticking with the "wrong" handles because you cannot buy handles separately. The fridge is great other than the handles situation.

We are pleasantly pleased. Had it about 2months.We really enjoy the features this fridge comes with. It has plenty of room and the color is great. It cleans up nicely too. The lighting is nice and not blaring. 1. Autofill - so convenient and the fact that the tray come out to support larger items like a pot. 2. The filter - It filters out pharmaceuticals! And I don't get the calcium white stuff floating around when the ice melts. I do wish the shelves on the left were a bit bigger. And the only thing that is annoying is protection package (green) didn't completely get removed. Overall we love it better than our LG!

So far so good. Noise level not bothersome to us. Auto water dispenser a little finicky. Can’t do water bottles with small opening. Glasses are a little inconsistent where it stops filling. Ice and water come out faster than our old Samsung. The lower refrigerator drawer requires both doors open. Past GE service on other appliances has been very good.

Reviewer- Family of 5. DON'T RECOMMEND! GE water filter required to keep water working. Costs $50 per filter. Forces you to replace every 6 mo or 300 gal. Ice maker might be good enough for 1 person at best. Pros- good usable space, looks nice, good balance of freezer space. Cons- Ice maker is a joke. water filter will cost you $50 per 6 mo. If you don't change it with GE filter, water will not work!

HOME DEPOT TO THE RESCUE!! I purchased this fridge as a Black Friday special as Home Depot had all appliances up to 40% off regular price and this was one that was the full 40%. I did a lot of research and really though I made a good purchase decision, I was very wrong. As the fridge was delivered there was an extremely sticky residue from the plastic protective wrap that should have been easy to remove, however we completely ruined the black slate finish on the door while trying as you can't safely use any cleaner on the slate finish or it will permanently damage the finish. Our 48 hours then began as I was in contact with GE customer service within an hour after delivery. A couple days later we noticed the exterior metal outside of the fridge was popped out and rubbing on our cabinets because it was completely separated from the inside foam insulation. It could be pushed back together but that would only last a couple days at most. Also within that first few days we noticed that our food and drinks weren't nearly as cold as they were supposed to be so we purchased an old style analog and an electronic thermometer with 3 sensors and a digital display only to find out that our brand new fridge wouldn't get colder than about 42 degrees F if you opened the door for any reason. The only time it would get below 40F is after nobody has been home all day to be able to open the door. Not good, we called GE again to report the new issues before the service guy came to address the first call regarding the stickiness and damaged door and the said they would make notes and apologized about our troubles. The service guy came out, looked at the damaged finish, agreed that it couldn't be cleaned and ordered a new door and tried to convince that the metal being separated on the left side of the fridge is "Normal", IT"S NOT! A few days later we noticed an 8 inch long block of ice had formed on the top of the freezer drawer and after closer inspection I noticed that the white plastic that makes up the freezer compartment was deformed where it comes to seal with the metal frame of the unit causing an air gap and a rather major leak in the insulation. We called GE again this time to report the block of ice they assured me it would be addressed when the service guy came to look at the cooling issues. The door arrived and later so did the same service guy from the 1st time. He then ran diagnostics on the unit and claimed that the compressor was running normally and not to trust a thermometer inside the fridge, WHAT??? why do they make them? The service guy went to his truck for a while, came back in with a card that had a new case #, a different phone # for us to contact GE's Customer Relations department from now on. Without replacing the door or even addressing the ice build-up on the freezer drawer he told us that he can't do anything with the fridge because the left side separation/loose exterior metal issue is only cosmetic, I strongly disagree. We're still left with a fridge that looks like it came from a scratch and dent shop that won't cool properly. I called GE's CR dept. the same day and they advised me that if they send another service guy out that would be my 2nd and final opinion on the repairability of my fridge, I agreed to the terms while being very upset by now. A different service guy showed up this time and he was able to submit photos of the freezer issue to his senior tech support, they agreed they would submit for replacement. YAY!!!, not so fast. A week later I had an appointment set to take delivery between 3-7pm. After several calls they finally arrive after 8:30pm on a Thursday. Before they took the 1st bad unit out of the house we went outside for them to unbox it in the driveway with flashlights for inspection. OMG this "Brand new" fridge was in bad shape! There was a 2 inch long, 1/4 inch wide gouge on the front of the door to the left of the ice dispenser shroud, about a 7 inch long deep scratch on the inside of the same door, and the top plastic trim on the freezer drawer looked like it was dragged on the cement before it was installed onto the unit. TERRIBLE!! And the delivery guys want to "Take my good door off the old one to put on the new one" to make things right?? I didn't purchase a pieced-together refrigerator from a salvage yard, this thing is supposed to be NEW. Home Depot made things right after several calls to several people and showing up at the store after work the day after the 2nd botched delivery. Home Depot worked out the details with GE to have them pick up the 1st bad unit when I take delivery of my new fridge that starts with ell and rhymes with ell gee. Thankfully this new unit looks brand new and the same thermometers that shouldn't be trusted actually show that the temps are within 2 degrees of the set temps, 35 for the fridge, 33 for the cooler drawer, and 0 for the freezer. The GE absolutely could not come close.

This product comes with a very vague proposition 65 warning! After you purchase the product, you will see a label in your refrigerator stating that you just purchased a health hazard in your home! It is very nerve-wracking, especially if you have young children and the company is vague about the specifics of this hazard. The company --placed a small sticker to alert you about the issue. Buyer please be aware!!! This lawful alert is very dubious in the hands of a seller that sells the product to a unsuspecting consumer. A very dubious practice. The store clerks will not even do a good job making you aware of this issue, though the Home Depot clerks are supposedly trained to know the products they carry.

Consumer Warning: Be aware that this model does not include Stainless Steel on the sides, despite the term "Stainless Steel" in the description. And the sales associate at the store didn't tell me, as I looked at all the shiny stainless steel models on the sales floor, that most of them do not have stainless steel on the side. I haven't purchased a fridge in 20 years, so I had no idea. I do love the features such as the autofill water dispenser, and I detected "normal" noise, unlike other reviews who complain of loud noise. It has a compressor, so you should expect some noise just like in all fridges. I would give it 5 stars otherwise but this bait and switch on the appearance forces me to give only an average rating. Bonus: Also be aware that Home Depot contracts with third party delivery services, so the delivery date they give you in the store is simply a suggestion, not a firm date. My delivery was delayed twice, so we lived an extra week without a fridge. Again shame on Home Depot for something less than full disclosure.

I LOVE this fridge. I purchased it on Black Friday for $1698, I went with this model because of the Autofill feature. Autofill is so cool and convenient, I can fill a large gallon pitcher by just placing it under the spout and pressing a button. The fridge senses the size of the container and it stops automatically for you! The LED lighting is bright and looks great, theres plenty of room for everything you want to store, and the different finish choices are all gorgeous, I went with stainless steel but the slate was sooo tempting, unfortunately all my other appliance are stainless.

The Good: It is a large fridge and the slate looks great. My wife wanted the magnetic properties, and the only places that collect finger prints are the handles. The Medium: Minor ding on the paint should be resolved by touch-up paint GE customer service is sending me. The Bad: This thing is LOUD. Phone app shows 50dB almost all the time. It is louder than my ancient fridge, even when it was running, which was much less frequently. It is also an annoyingly high-pitched whine. I had a repair-man come out and, not surprisingly, his comment was 'everything is working properly' and 'on new fridges the compressor runs all the time'. Comparing to two people I know with newer fridges (different brands) mine is way more noticeable. I am not looking forward to the next 15 years listening to this thing disrupt my kitchen conversations. I walk in the house not thinking about it and the first thing I think when I open the door is 'oh yeah, there's the d*mn fridge'. I have a couple sheets of Styrofoam and have packed them around it to little effect - I am going to get some more although I need to make sure I meet minimum clearances for air flow so not sure how that's going to work out. I cannot recommend a GE fridge at this point because of it.

So far as it has only been a little over a week, I love the fridge. Deliver guys were awesome and took the time to make sure it would fit instead of just dropping it off and leaving. Love the LED light that start off dim and get brighter. Autosense water fill works great just push the button and it fills it up while you are doing other something else. Wasn't keen on the drawer freezer but it has already grown on me and I wouldn't change it. Overall the Adora has exceeded my expectations.

The refrigerator is beautiful and has lots of space. The storage is laid out well. We didn't realize that replacement water filters would cost $110 / year or more, depending on use. This puts GE Adora filters at the very top in terms of cost, but they claim to filter pharmaceuticals out of water. We didn't know anything about the hands-free autofill feature, and spent about 20 minutes just filling up different things. Would give the 5 star review a small ding, as our fridge arrived with a couple of small scratches on the inside (about 2" deep, discolored, and right in the middle of the top, so it's noticeable each time we open the fridge. However, GE offered to replace the unit since they can't fix it. That's completely unnecessary, so I declined it. All in all, the fridge is amazing. Let's hope it holds up for a long time.

love it more than I thought I would
I work in the appliances department and research the features and reviews on refrigerators daily, and this was gthe one I chose. A huge drawing point for me was the Slate finish. The flourescent lighting in most stores really doesn’t do it justice. It isnt as dull as in appears to be next to the ever popular stainless and is the only one I have found to actually be fingerprint proof (nature of being shiny means it will eventually smudge). I didn’t realize that I would enjoy the autofill on the water dispenser nearly as much as I do. It tells you how many ounces you dispenses as well as filling containers (does better filling more narrow mouthed containers due to sensor design),. I try to track how mych water I dink and this really helps. It has plenty of room for almost anything. The turbo cool/freeze was great for when we intiallly had it installed to get it to optimal temperature and will come in handy if the power goes out. We upgraded from a top freeze to this because the bending of the former was causing strain on my grandmother’s back. Being able to bend straight to the freezer rather then at an angle to the more used refrigerator is helping tremendously. Love the long pantry drawer. Oh, and its still magnetoc which is not the case with a lot of stainless steel fridges

If I could give this 10 stars I would. Our old fridge died unexpectedly and we were in a pinch to find one fast. We had bought a similar GE fridge for our old house . Loved everything about it but didn't like the maintenance on the stainless steel. With an 11 year old son it seemed like I could never keep it clean. We bought this new Adore fridge in slate and LOVE it! You still have fingerprint issues on the handles, but they are easy to clean and I haven't had to clean the doors once! It looks really classy and goes perfect with our granite countertops. We were nervous to go with something other than stainless but I'm so glad we did! There is a ton of space and we really like the half shelf to accommodate larger bottles. The auto fill feature is fantastic! The Home Depot delivery was excellent. We live in a ski town in Colorado and when we checked the competitor it was going to take 3 weeks for delivery. Home Depot got it to us 2 days after ordering! The delivery guys were meticulous about protecting the house and the fridge.

I have had this for a couple of months and it is awesome. Tons of room and while I was skeptical about the autofill function I have to tell you that it is a huge convenience. I added the 2nd ice maker option and while it doesn't hold a lot of ice, it is much more accessible and has much more capacity than the primary in-door ice maker and comes in handy if you want to make a bunch of ice to fill up a cooler now and then.

I just don't like this fridge after testing it out for 2 1/2 months. For one: it is annoyingly LOUD. Our 12 yr old Whirlpool was super quiet, so this is a huge disappointment, as you can't test out noise in the store. The handle placement on the bins is also a little hard to get used to as you have to fumble around looking for the usual top pull out handle when it is a rather hidden bottom pull-out configuration. Also, after being used to a smaller lunchmeat/cheese drawer, I have to put them in the long drawer at the bottom, in which you have to open both sides of the fridge to access. There is almost no need for a full-length drawer at the bottom. If you had to put a sheet cake in, it would have to be tilted in--if even possible! I would have rather seen slightly deeper vegetable & fruit bins and a normal sized lunchmeat/cheese drawer. Also, be careful when autofilling a clear glass container with ice. It has overflowed several times and it's hard to figure out how to make it stop when that happens. If you want a butter compartment, which is lacking, you have to order it separately from GE.

We have had our GE for less than one month and we LOVE it! YES, it is a monster of a machine, so make sure you measure correctly! We went from a side by side to the French door/bottom freezer and can't believe the amount of food it holds. I am at a quandary trying to decide what fits in the 2 thin shelves on the door side where the ice maker Is. I've found the only thing so far that works is butter. But I don't mind that cause there is plenty of room elsewhere for everything else I've ever needed. It runs much quieter than our previous fridge ( but that thing was going on 22 years old) and we love the dual ice maker. It makes ice quickly. We looked for 4 months for a new fridge but the wait was so worth it. This appliance MORE than meets our expectations!

The refrigerator fits perfectly in the desired space. It has more interior space than the previous two similar refrigerators that we have owned. The controls are easy to understand and the features are easy to use.

                                LOVE it!
Let me begin by saying I love this new fridge! We could not be happier with it. The color is awesome, and we are now looking into upgrading the rest of our appliances and getting the slate gray color to match. I've heard mixed views regarding GE appliances, but I can tell you I have no problems. I have two small children, so not only does this fridge not pick up prints all over it, but it also stands up to the beating that we give it. Doors always slam open, things always spill, etc. This thing is huge, too! I do not know how we did it with a smaller fridge in the past. It has two ice makers, which is now also a must have for me. Design, features, and quality is everything I was hoping for in a fridge.

                                Slate is the new Stainless.
This is not your parents' refrigerator! This replaced a 27CuFt unit and even though it is slightly bigger, it fit perfectly in the space with little room to spare, so be sure you get your measurements right. The new-style hinges work well to allow the doors to open with minimal clearance issues. The French-Door refrigerator has all the modern features with Lighted Ice and Water in the door. The ice-maker is in the refrigerator compartment and is smaller than older refrigerators but works well for average households. We hold parties frequently so we opted for the add-on ice-maker in the freezer compartment (an easy self-install). The Auto-Fill feature allows you to place any size container under the water fill spout, push a button, and walk away. It senses the size of the container and automatically fills it to the top. It works great, but don't add ice to the container first, as sometimes that confuses the sensor and you might get overfilled. The slate color is like a medium grey and goes well with other stainless appliances as it has stainless steel handles. And the color is easier to clean than stainless. It's the wave of future kitchen color schemes. There are plenty of configuration options inside the refrigerator and freezer to help you arrange your food products. Please notice that the Interior LED lighting goes from dim to full brightness slowly, so that in the early morning, when you open the refrigerator door, you do not get blinded by the full blast of LED lighting - Cool! There is a built-in easy-access water filter in the top, left refrigerator compartment, and the water is nice and cold. My experience with some modern refrigerators is that in order to save energy, they make more noise. This unit is quiet - no strange sounds. I checked the temperatures with a thermometer, which you can adjust from the front panel, and it holds the temperatures spot-on. Overall, a big win. If you need more ice, self-install the optional freezer-compartment ice-maker.
