Was not sure if it was going to be cold enough and long enough to freeze my outdoor water pipe so I used the Frost King cable. More a piece of mind item. No freezing of the pipe, the bottom line for me. No expensive plumber repair bill if the pipes had froze.

Welp, I purchased this last year and it worked great. Stored it for the summer and brought it out this past weekend ahead of the cold snap. (It's currently 17 degrees.) We live in an RV. Plugged it in and used electrical tape to secure it to the parts of the outside plumbing that our heated hose doesn't protect. The little light on the plug lit up when plugged in so assumed all good. Woke up The next morning to 20 degree temps and an ice cold heat cable and frozen pipes. So it worked 1 season

It is well made. Doesn't appear to have any cheap materials. I installed it on an outside installation of a reverse osmosis water system. Here in SC it does get below freezing at times. I ran this cable along both the incoming and outgoing PEX 3/4" tubing. I secured the cable with velcro straps then wrapped it with pipe insulation wrap. The entire system is in a custom built insulated 'shed'. It is sensor controlled to turn on/off at 38/43 degrees (F) and gets up to 88 degrees (F). The three-prong plug is lighted when plugged-in to a power source to indicate power. The lighted plug doesn't indicate that the cable is heating or not. Four stars for quality and functionality. Two stars because of cost. Average three stars.

Very easy to install.

It's great. Wished packaging plainly stated ok to use with pex. Hard to contact right cust service reps. Co. had an elaborate installation procedure that was helpful, but only after making couple of calls. Wrap pex with aluminum foil, tape on cable and wrap with insulation and vapor barrier.

Installed the heat cable and tested, everything is OK. Temps milder now, but I'm sure we will have some very cold mornings again.

Huge waste of money and extremely frustrating cause if you need this product like I did, it's probably for a not so fun or convenient location. It's worth the $30 loss more than going back in my crawl space in 10 degree weather to Disassemble and try to return this product. either this product is complete junk or I got one with a busted thermostat or something and after the time n effort it took me to wrap and tape it to my lines, nothing has felt more defeating. Do not recommend this product, find something that works

Installed just before 10 degree weather in a external pump house, it did it's job in preventing pipe freezing. Installation is primarily driven by the location. In a cramped below surface pump house there were hard to reach places.
