The lock worked for the first couple of months but due to outdoor elements, it only opens from inside now which is a pain as it is located on an exterior gate. I thought brass wouldn't rust but made of cheaper metals on interior

Once the deadbolt was installed the key would only work on one side. Disassembled 3 additional times and still same problem. Item has been returned.

The lock in the package did not match what I ordered and was pictured with a knob on inside ,instead it was a double lock. It needs to be opened with a key on both sides.

The product is garbage. Poor fit and finish. The screws holding it together were loose. There were casting burs on it that cut me. I have used these in the past for work, I buy 4-5 of them per year for the last 8 years . The quality WAS acceptable when my local store stocked them, not now.

I have been using an earlier version of this lock (from a different manufacturer) since 1983. The old one finally wore out to where the interior cylinder would not lock. This new new one is identical except for the key shape so if it last as long it will outlast me.

Forget using using this as a lock that can be opened from the outside.Throw away the key and tumbler mechanism and mount this on the inside of your door. So that it can only be locked from inside than it functions beautifully as a back-up door lock when you are home.

Summary-the product is junk. Echo previous review about inability to turn key from outside. I'm a bit more of a expert, and I examined the lock. The problem is that the bolt throw slide plate does not fully engage, due to the actuating tab being too short to fully move it into engaged position. This is a fatal design defect, not an isolated one-off defective item. They're all bad, but the defect is only revealed upon installation so, sorry folks, you might not get a refund for this mal-designed product, but you won't be able to make it work properly either, so kiss your $27 goodbye.

Based on a review I did not want to buy it but it would have been a perfect fit for the door. It broke during installation. Very cheap product.

This is the worst lock I've ever purchased. The key has gotten stuck in the chamber. It's difficult to turn the key , especially from the exterior. My wife can't turn the key at all. I need to buy another lock, what a waste of money and time
