Not ready to stain
I love the door - solid, easy to install. BUT - there were large, dark splotchy areas that appeared when we put on the gel stain - some appeared to be a liquid that dripped from the corners - others appeared to be splash marks. Would be fine for painting, but I wouldn't recommend stain.

We converted our dining room into an office ant these doors were the perfect fit. They stained beautifully.
